Recently I joined friends for a birthday lunch at Brio. We were warmly greeted by a friendly hostess, who seated us immediately and then introduced us to our server, Ryan. It was the beginning of a fun visit with friends and with outstanding food & service. We loved the new menu and all agreed we would return soon for dinner. The new manager, Christian– I asked for his name so I could applaud his work — seems to have everything running perfectly — the employees seemed happy with their jobs and that certainly makes for well cared for customers — attitude is SO important !!! This visit has made me look forward to return visits !!!

I made a reservation for 7 people on a Sunday afternoon! Arriving half an hour late but being seated right away, table was seat at a quiet Conner which I really like, cause I don’t like people passing by me while I’m eating. Hottest is very polite also! Waitress came to our table right away to take order for drinks and food! Very nice very accommodate! I’m very happy to have a relaxing lunch with my family! Food was served very quick also! About 20 minute after we ordered every thing!!! Good food! No complains here! I’m not Italian so I can speak for the authenticity! But overall it’s worth 5 star because we have a lovely time there!

Quick to seat — Austin is funny he will dance you to your table with the right song. Taylor was my waitress, nice, quick and knowledgeable. Told her what I was looking for and she gave me a few options. I ended up getting the chicken limone which was tasty and huge. I only finished half. The place is in a good location and it has a nice atmosphere. The food was not amazing or I would give it another star, but if you want to go to a nice place with friendly people and have a nice variety of food give this place a try.

Good Italian food, quite environment. I should give it four stars but the service is too slow in a non busy night, so I have to take one off.

The things I do like on the menu are the cheapest. The free bread, lobster bisque and Cesar salad. Everything on the menu Ive had looks and tastes prepackaged/frozen and just heated up. It actually amazes me people pay 18 – 20 dollars a Dish here when Birmingham has SO many good Italian dishes to offer for that price or cheaper and taste fresh and made to order.

Given the price tag, I expected a higher quality meal. I got a $ 308oz steak with Gorgonzola crust which while not terrible was subpar at best. It was overcooked, dry and pretty bland. The Gorgonzola crust was tasty, however I’ve had better juicier steaks at sizzler at a fraction of the price. Mashed potatoes were very average and the roasted veggies were the best part. Calamari appetizer was excellent. Service and ambiance were nice. Cheesecake dessert was delicious. Some of the pasta dishes and salads that I others in our party got looked pretty good, but ruining the expensive steak is unacceptable therefore the three stars. my advice is to stick to Low skill items that are hard to ruin like calamari, pasta, and cheesecake

I’m changing my review based on the fact that management handled my complaint on Unilocal very professionally. I wasn’t expecting anything from my review but the front office at brio made sure that my bad experience at brios was a one time thing only. I will be returning and will definitely recommend this location to others. Thanks Brio!

What’s the point of a reservation when you still have to wait 40 freaking minutes boooooo

Brio is a nice Italian restaurant that is extremely popular. On Friday night at 6:00, I overheard the hostess quote a two hour wait to someone. Reservations are definetly the route to go, and they can be made very easily on the Internet. The food is consistent, and the kitchen takes extra effort in preparation and presentation. On this recent visit, I had the Grilled Pork Chop and it was wonderful. I sometimes stay away from ordering pork chops because they can easily be over cooked. This chop was cooked just right. The thick cut was tender and moist, and had a terrific grilled flavor. It was served with mashed potatoes and a medley of grilled seasonal(root) vegatables. I thought the combination was perfect. Even thought Brios is a chain, the dishes have the creativity of an individual chef. For example, my wife tried the Shrimp and Lobster Ravioli. It sounds a signature dish that would take time to develop and perfect. She liked it.

Lunch, alright, dinner not very good. Bar, mediocre. So many better places in Birmingham.

Been there several times. There was a time, where I would consider it a good restaurant, but overtime the food quality has deteriorated. I have tried several things on the menu, but by far my fave has to be shrimp/crab cakes. The crab cakes were absurdly small. The mash potatoes had a fake feel to them and the veggies were nothing spectacular. I just don’t feel the menu has much to offer for me to go back. Service was fine.

Let me start by saying that Brio has been one of my favorite places in town, and I have been there at least 50 times with my family. That said, my last two visits have been subpar. Tonight I again had a pretty bad experience. I ordered a chicken dish that was received raw. My wife ordered a salad wedge that was about a third the size of what it had been in the past, and our service was inattentive to say the best. I hope they can come back to previous form. If not, I will just go to Gianmarco’s when I can actually get in. The price isn’t that different, but the service and consistently are much better.

Let me start by saying I rairly give 1 star reviews. I am so mad at the experience that I don’t want to think about it. But this is supposed to be a good restaurant and I have disliked it every time I’ve gone. I will focus on the most recent visit. Went to lunch with a girlfriend on a Tuesday. The place was maybe half full, but we were told there would be a 10 min wait. I’ve worked in restaurants. When customers can see empty tables you do one of 2 things, tell them they can be seated or get a drink from the bar, but that their waiter will be with them in _____min, or seat them and have a different waiter cover. This was not a huge deal to me, but the hostess was a bitch. Absolutely didn’t want to do anything and gave us foul looks as if we just cut her off in line. We asked if we could sit outside and that was even a inconvenience to her. Eventually we were seated and promptly forgotten about. When the waiter did show up he said he was sorry. We asked a few questions about the specials and he couldn’t answer them… sigh… Then a random person sat at the dirty table next to us and started smoking. When our food came I asked about it(wasn’t sure if we were in a smoking area). The waiter looked at me, looked at her and disappeared. A manager did come out and told her she needed to leave. That it was smoke free and only customers could sit at the tables. But he didn’t stay or follow up on her leaving. She got up, walked to the rail and finished her cigarette. Okay, food. Best I can say is that I have liked nothing I’ve ever gotten. Can’t say what’s wrong with it exactly, probably not great ingredients, strange fancy taste profiles that don’t go together and a general soggyness. I will not go back. I will skip out on lunch out. I am not giving this place any more of my time or money. They don’t seem to want anyone there, don’t want to serve them and certainly don’t seem to care what is going on unless forced to. And their food isn’t good. Yuck!

Went here for a late Sunday lunch, and it was so good! My boyfriend was used to a wait when coming here for lunch, but by 1:30 it had cleared up, and we only waited for about 10 minutes to get a table cleaned up. The communal bread on the table is fantastic, and probably one of my favorite things about an Italian restaurant. Boyfriend got one of the flatbreads, while I decided to be a little adventurous and got the balsamic chicken and quinoa light plate. It was under 600 calories, and it was absolutely amazing! The quinoa was mixed in with roasted red peppers and succulent cherry tomatoes. The chicken was cooked well, and the balsamic reduction was fabulous. It’s making my mouth water thinking about it. Try it if you’re in the mood for something new age, but with traditional Italian flavors. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Brio, I’ll be back!

I’m a little late to the party on this one. I experienced Brio a few months ago but if it says anything that I kept reminding myself to post a review for so long, it should say something… Fabulous! I had my first encounter with lamb chops at Brio, and to say the least, I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, I was wowed! The service was kinda crappy, hence the star deduction but the food was tremendous. I recommend checking it out.

I’ve been frequenting brio for the last 10 years and have always had pleasant experience! The servers are always friendly. I love the sourdough bread with olive oil! I think the petite filet mignon served with mashed potatoes and veggies is one of the best steaks in town, for the price. For a chain in the area, I find this a good choice.

Excellent service and great food. Our waitress was awesome. She was super courteous and genuine. I am not sure of her name but she was a African American woman with black/brown curly hair! Thank you! The lunch scene was very busy. Not crowded, just busy. The dining area was pleasant and clean. The food was actually cheaper than I had expected. I had the chicken panini and my girlfriend had the vegetable panini– both were excellent. I would definitely order them again. For a lunch spot, quite delicious. Overall, the food and service was high quality. Would recommend this place to my friends!

The food was okay. The atmosphere, not so much. I had a dirty wine glass which made me worry about what my food would be like. Like I said, the food wasn’t much to be excited about, but it did come out fast. The service was nice, but not overly concerned about coming back to our table. Overall? Eh.

I love this chain, but I would never go back to this location. The servers and staff were fantastic, and the food was acceptable. However, they were incredibly late and getting the food to our table, and the manager had to come over about 20 minutes after we ordered to let us know that they were out of the particular appetizer we had requested. Now in fairness they did do everything they could to deal with the fact that the kitchen was so miserably slow, and the manager did come but our appetizers since we didn’t get the one that we wanted. Nevertheless, this experience was not very good and I do believe that’s primarily because of the kitchen staff.
