Usually enjoy but really disappointed tonight. Had to send steak back… twice…and since when does bread cost extra… I mean, really? Manager wanted to argue about the steak!

I am not sure what this place is trying to be or what they think they are now but a great place to get food and drinks is not one of them. It’s possible that my expectations are high having traveled to New Orleans recently but this place is way off the mark. The bar scene is somewhat present but the food leaves a lot to be desired. You’re better off microwaving some frozen food at home.

We enjoyed this spot enough to eat here two nights in a row. It was conveniently located in a shopping center near our hotel. Since it’s in a shopping center there is plenty of parking close to the building. Both nights we arrived during dinner rush and were able to get a table without waiting. They were pretty busy both nights since the place also has a bar and TV’s. The menu is huge and almost overwhelming with good Cajun options. We tried several different appetizers and entrée options between our two visits. Everything we had was really good. The flavors were bold and exactly what you’d expect from Cajun food.

Had a double date here the other night. It was Sat night and we were sat quickly. It was in the middle of football season, and not many people were here. It did fill up later and was quite packed by the time we left. Each of us ordered something different, including the vegan in the group. Everyone was quite happy with their meals, and those who got drinks enjoyed them too, though they were a bit quick with bringing the check, and since we had not decided to get desert or not, the choice was made for us. My food order was the bourbon street fettuccine(chicken & sausage in a creole sauce) and it was great. One of our party said that though he liked his order, he would have gotten mine if he had seen it. The grilled bread topped it off well, dipping it in the creole sauce. Sadly, I got some on my shirt, but it was worth it. Great meal for all of us and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Came here on a Saturday evening around 6:30 pm. Restaurant wasn’t crowded, and we were seated promptly while we waited for others in our party to arrive. The menu had diverse options — fish, seafood, chicken, etc. I had the blackened tilapia tacos(obviously). Tacos were large in size and fish was spicy, but not too spicy. I think everyone else at table enjoyed their food. The minus star was for service: a little too pushy. Waitress had just brought out our dinners, and she immediately asked us if we wanted dessert! We were less than halfway through our meal! We said«give is few minutes», and I guess she took that as no, because five minutes later our checks were placed on the table! Weird. Service was way too rushed. By the time we left, the restaurant was full and loud. Guess we arrived at just the right time.

Everything my wife and I had was very good. We sat on the patio and they had live entertainment and he was good. I had the red snapper with crawfish étouffée on it with a side of jambalaya. Very tasty! My wife had the voodoo chicken and she was raving about it. I tried it and it was very good. Chocolate cake for dessert. A little pricey but no more so than red lobster but the food tasted so much better than red lobster.

Womp womp. I wanted to like this place but it was so generic and boring that I just left disappointed. I think I could have had a more enjoyable meal at Red Lobster. I thought my husband’s red beans and rice(with sausage) tasted straight up like campho phenique. My fish was bland, etc. The only thing I was into here was the two different versions of boudin(regular, and fried). If we ever go back I’ll probably just order those and forget an entrée.

Excellent service, food came quickly and was great! Blackens tilapia was lightly spicy, portions were very large. Everything cooked and plated very nice for the Cajun atmosphere.

Had a hankering for some cajun, so hit up this spot. The food here is ok, but the service is def with a smile. Somehow food tastes better when you have pretty waitresses. Good job ladies, keep doing what you do.

Horrible. The seafood is overpriced for the quality provided, at 18.95 a dozen raw. The fries were still frozen in the middle, and the alcoholic beverages are 8.00 each with only 1.25 oz alcohol. I would never return to this money pit.

One of my go to restaurants when asked where I want to go eat. Seated immediately on arrival with choice of outside or indoor table. We like to order the fried seafood platter to split and is plenty for both of us even without appetizer or dessert. This is what we chose this trip and arrived promptly, hot and prepared just right. Cajun/Creole dishes are quite good as well from other visits. We will continue to go back.

The BEST cajun food! These guys know how to do it right! I’ve been to the one here in Birmingham and Nashville and even while driving out of my way for two hours they were both worth the trip! Plz open one in Atlanta! Gumbo — Red Beans and Sausage — Boudin — Fairly priced, Go hungry!

We’ve been here 2x in the last week … We’re from out of town on business … Excellent food and good service .!! But can not get over the fact that smoking is allowed in a public restaurant !! Hurts the experience !

Went here and was super excited to try their food. It was just okay. The food was not worth the price for sure. The place was really loud and crowded which is fine for me if the food and service are good. We also had a terrible waitress who was more interested in texting or talking to her coworkers than checking on us/refilling our glasses. I definitely won’t be going back to this location.

I went for dinner lat night and I go strictly for two menu items. The voodoo chicken and the fried dill pickles. Well i use to go for pickles until i tasted Saw´s Soul Kitchen… now i just go for voodoo chicken. The service is really lackluster and borderline rude at times. If you like the voodoo chicken which is topped with bacon, caramelized onions, crawfish meat(mounds of it), and dressed with creole sauce and a dash of balsamic glaze you will go back but if you don’t there is really no reason to return. So my check in is a day off but i wanted to still post my review.

I am a huge fan of Cajun food, so I had high expectations for Cajun steamer. Is it as good as what you’ll find in the French quarter? Of course not! But it is a great substitute until you can get back to the big easy. I like their crawfish enchiladas. My husband usually gets their po’boys. We are never disappointed until we get a bad server, which has happened on more than one occasion.

LOVE this place! Trussville’s staff have been awesome every time I’ve been there over the years. Hoover wasn’t as friendly but I was only there once. Boudin Balls, fried pickles & Melvin’s Blackened Chicken, chicken & sausage jambalaya are all excellent — go hungry!

In All Fairness, It’s Hit or Miss (They usually strike out) The food and service is generally mediocre. If you are under the influence of intoxicating liquors, this may enhance your perception of said dining experience. If you are looking for authentic tasting Cajun cuisine: 1. buy some Tony Chachere’s dinner mixes 2. add onion, bell pepper, and celery 3. throw in your seafood or snausage 4. invite your family and friends over 5. skip the disappointment of the Cajun«Cleveland» Steamer, where the only thing steamed is your temper.

This place is delicioso! I’ve been here numerous times and the food is great! We’ve never received bad service here! They also give a military discount! The fried dill pickles are a great appetizer! Fish tacos are great also! Worth a try!
