Carrigan’s is one of my favorite places in Birmingham for dinner or just drinks. The beer and cocktail selection is huge. The Loaded Fries are the BEST! It can get a little crowded on the weekends.

Really loved the beer selection — tremendous bartenders and wait staff. The corndog was crazy, and the brussels were out of this world. Non-traditional, high-end bar fare. Will be back soon!

Perfect for a night out. The atmosphere is pretty loud but exciting, such a mixed crowd of people that I enjoy. The punch they have is pretty awesome and strong, you only need one to get you going. I always get the Panko Crusted Chicken which is DIVINE! Probably the best I’ve ever had. I decided to try the corn dog tonight which didn’t disappoint, if your looking for a cool atmosphere with great drinks and good food this is your place!

Super cool, completely hipster spot in a very industrial-feeling part of Birmingham! We went for lunch, and it wasn’t too crowded. Kind of place where you grab a menu and order at the bar. We were all really impressed with our food! I tried the Caesar salad with blackened Ahi tuna and it was pretty great! I loved having a healthy-ish option with my beer! They have a great beer selection! And their cocktails looked great(but they don’t start serving liquor and cocktails until later in the day, so we didn’t get to try any). They had the roof patio closed when we there, but I would definitely go back to Carrigan’s for a bite to eat and drinks on that amazing patio!!!

I visited Carrigan’s a few weeks ago in the evening, and it was ok. I heard about their corn dogs, got really excited about it, but I’m sad to say, it was way too salty. Also, I understand they are trying to create ambiance, but the interior was so poorly lit, that I could barely navigate where I was going. When we received our food, we had to turn on the flashlights on our phones to get a good look at it. I will likely visit again because I do like the location and bar set up. My friend had the oxtail loaded fries, and they were really good. We tried to invite our friend and his son, but you must be 21 or older to enter. I tried to find this info on the website but could not locate it.

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Food has exceeded expectations every time we have eaten there. It can get a bit crowded though so we often head there straight from work to grab a good spot and a few drinks before calling it a night. The loaded fries are amazing and as everyone else has said, the corn dog is on point.

I ate the notorious Carrigan’s corndog & loved it! The hipster ranch is what made it. It is served piled high on crispy, delicious french fries. If you don’t like spicy, then I’d recommend you ask them to leave off the spicy ketchup. It’s got some heat, and while I like spicy I thought the dog might be better without it. They have a very nice big bar with plenty of room to eat comfortably(at least the Wednesday night I was there). The draft selection was nice. I drank two nitro Xocovezas by Stone. The service is good. The atmosphere is dark and moody. Definitely recommend should you find yourself in downtown Birmingham!

We wandered in here fresh from the Airport, our first stop in Birmingham. Carrigan’s was clean and inviting, and we pulled up a couple of chairs at the Bar to place our food and drink orders. After informing the bartenders that this was our first time here, they were more than happy to fill us in on what they have and what they recommend. There was not much that they couldn’t recommend, and they were right. We finally settled on the Fish ‘N Chips, served with KALE Chips, which were sooo good. My Philly-wise Boss teases me that we had Kale for lunch, but really, don’t be afraid! Plus we ordered their twice-fried Fries on the side and I couldn’t stop eating them. They came with 3 different dipping sauces. We also ordered a double Cheeseburger and it was also amazing. With that we had a side of Collard Greens with Pork… yes, do try it, as a highly recommended way to get your Veggies for the day. Okay maybe the fries went with the burger, and the Greens with the Fish… In any case, everything here was spot on, I have no complaints!

Winner(period) This is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. Dinner, late night snack, just a few drinks, happy hour drinks, a few beers, lunch and a beer, WHATEVER, this is a go to place. Very varied seating options including the awesome rooftop patio(sunset in the spring is gorgeous), uniquely delicious twists on typical bar food, meticulously made craft cocktails, and a great craft beer list(sometimes having some of the most limited release beers in Alabama), and servers that are on top of their game while being very friendly are the components that come together to make this one of the best in Birmingham. FOOD Well I have to say it, the corn dog is where its at. I dont know if it is the sauce or what but it is just so awesome. Do yourself a favor and get that oxtail chili on the fries and get some extra of the guajillo ketchup and hipster ranch. The last time I was in I switched it up a little and got the double burger. Wow was it awesome too! DRINKS I have always been impressed with the beer list here and I am really hard to please when it comes to beer. They almost always have something on the list that makes me think I am so glad to be here on this night to get this one off beer that is probably only being poured at a handful of restaurants in the state. So, get a beer and dont just get one you have had before, ask the bartender(especially Owen) about stuff that is here today and gone tomorrow, beers you may not have the chance to have again, at least not anytime soon. As impressed as I am with the beer list, I am most intrigued by their particular way of mixing their craft cocktails. I dont know many places in Bham that take this much time and precision when making mixed drinks. I was recently fortunate enough to be in for Old Fashioned Happy Hour. Turns out that every Tuesday Old Fashioneds are only $ 5 from 4−7pm! I will be back for another of those… thank you very much. ATMOSPHERE I love that there are so many different seating options. There is outdoor on the ground level, outdoor on the rooftop patio with an awesome view of the city, bar stools, booth, tables, and kind of hybrid open seating areas for when you are there with a group. They have just the right seating set up no matter what your party size is. I have been here with a group of 50, a group of 30, a group of 10, party of 4, just me and a friend, and just me and my wife. SERVICE Well I have gone on and on about everything else so I will keep this short. They are fast, they know their stuff, and they are friendly. That is a rare combination that you should appreciate. If you dont appreciate the rarity of it, just take notice of how many servers in town have that winning combination. So, ask them about anything and take their advice. To close with a change up of a quote from a favorite movie of mine… You asked me for a favor… the real favor, follow my advice and go to Carrigans because a winner is a winner.

I am new to Birmingham from Miami, and have been looking for my new«go to» place on Saturday. Being from Miami, there is no shortage of «go to» places on the weekend when you are wanting some good drinks, a good vibe, and good food. I tried Carrigan’s for the first time tonight based on previous reviews. I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar and had the burger with the ghost pepper cheese and brussel sprouts for my side. The burger was awesome and bursting with flavor. The sprouts were the perfect compliment instead of the fries that it comes with. I highly recommend substituting the sprouts if you enjoy them. I don’t think you will regret the decision! They had a good, but not great, selection of beer on tap that was moderately priced. They had a lot of other beers available in cans/bottles. It was a mixed crowd for a Saturday night. There were several older couples dining at side tables, with a bit of a younger crowd sitting at the bar. There is a nice outdoor patio area(with heating lamps) and a roof top terrace also. I will try those in the warmer months. The bartenders were great, bar was clean, and food was excellent. I consider myself very picky and critical when it comes to dining. I am comfortable giving this a solid 4 stars, but I can’t give it the full 5. However, I will definitely return to Carrigan’s once I try out more local spots in Birmingham. Overall, great first dining experience in my new city.

Still love Carrigan’s but don’t love the following: Counter service only for all service, including food and drinks. Not a big deal if you’re sitting at a bar but if at another table or worse, upstairs, you have to trek to the bar, wait for an opening, order, then wait longer, then take your drink back to your table. Also, sometimes you must clear your own empties if you need room. Will these issues stop me from returning? No way!

Stopped in for a quick, casual dinner with the husband. Décor was typical for a big city cocktail bar and surprisingly on trend for Birmingham. Acoustics were perfect — the place was a little over half full and the background noise was loud enough to create a buzz but I could easily hear my husband talking. Food was fine; hummus plate, pork cheek sliders for me, burger for the husband. The old-fashioned that I had was delicious — love the oversized ice cubes. It was confusing as first timers to figure out that we were supposed to order at the bar and squeeze in between people to do so. Management should set a couple designated areas for ordering. Look forward to returning!

Excellent hamburger with ghost pepper jack cheese with wickles pickles.. Yum. Service was great. Colin and Daniel were fast and efficient with lots of personality. Limited menu from 2−5 – but the burger is still available.

I really, really, really love this bar. I love the atmosphere and the décor. I love the outdoor space, especially upstairs. The drinks are great and this is definitely a great place to hangout after hours in Birmingham. I have tried the food, but I am not a fan. I ordered the trout, and did not expect skin on the fish. I was really turned off by this. However, I feel to be fair, I feel like I probably need to try something else to truly judge the food. Regardless of the food, a fun place to hangout.

This pub is a hidden gem in the Magic City! Id give 6 stars!!! Nestled near the backside of the city, the owner(s) certainly chose a great spot for patrons to enjoy unique wings, craft beer, above standard liquor drinks, boardwalk style fries, and none other than the blue collar workers PBR in a 16 oz. can! This place welcomes a diverse crowd in patrons and servers. You will find a friendly staff taking care of its patrons all throughout the evening without obligation and a smile to show it. Décor(wood, iron beams… big ups to Vulcan dude, and brick) is the most unique in the city and thoughtful placement of seating and chilll areas! With a cool view of passing freight trains every 15 mins or so, there’s no doubt you’re in-the-city! My wife and I moved her from Tampa 8÷1÷15 and this is in the top 3 of places to visit… see you there! Must try: Kung fu wings, fries, and the PB&J special! Bests: widely available parking, clean bathrooms, spacious indoors & rooftop deck, diverse crowd, quality drinks, creative dishes, & friendly service

What a great place! I’ve only been once, but I know Carrigan’s will become a regular haunt for me whenever I’m in town. Offering a cavernous warehouse appeal, the interior is arranged with a unique décor that is truly appealing to the likes of me. We decided on sitting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather the other evening, but inside is extremely inviting(as is mentioned by just about every Unilocaler in their review. Believe!) I love cocktail bars that have non elusive, non pretentious bartenders(the ‘tenders here are so damn nice and attentive!) I love cocktail bars that have bubbly because lately I’ve not been drinking cocktails as much as I used to(I still appreciate! I’m just more into wine). I love cocktail bars that have food available. Carrigan’s has a good selection of food, from corn dogs to vegetarian options. It ain’t just bar food, though. Corn dogs, salads, sliders, sounds pretty basic, right? It’s on a whole other level. I had a falafel that rivals some of the best I’ve ever had in authentic Middle Eastern restaurants. Every falafel lovers know that it’s so easy to make them inedible. That you get an option for it over salad or in a sandwich is really appreciated! Although the falafel comes with tzatziki, I asked them to leave it off. The salad comes with goat cheese sprinkled on top, but it’s just as easy for them to leave it off, so if you’re vegan, there are options and they are pretty cool about that. Tahini would be awesome(and goes better with falafel anyway), but that’s a suggestion. The falafel is actually *that* good that a sauce isn’t even necessary. Aaaaand they have one of my favorite snacks, ever: boiled peanuts! Seriously, these just go so great with drinks, yes, even Champagne. Shut it.

Carrigan’s is certainly becoming an icon for downtown Birmingham. One of the best atmospheres you will find in Birmingham. It is spacious inside, awesomely decorated, and a great outdoor space. Not much more you could ask for in a downtown bar. And add in delicious, unique food and you have a staple. I cannot believe I haven’t eaten more things here. But in a moment of haste, I have now ordered the pork cheek sliders in my two food visits here. But what is not to like? Tender, moist pork on a soft bun. I may order it the next time I go too! Although I need to try some of their other icons. I have been here numerous other times for drinks. They have knowledgable efficient bartenders. And a nice long bar you can always find space to belly up to. Overall a solid Bham go-to for locals and a great place to take guests.

Stayed in Birmingham for one night. Carrigan’s was recommended by a bartender at another bar. Walked over by myself and the bartender was awesome. Great atmosphere, great drink, great food, great employees. Had the corn dog which was mind blowing. It came with some of the best French fries I’ve ever had. Also had the Chick Pea soup which was amazing even though it wasn’t what I expected. It’s a broathy chicken soup with chick pease instead of noodles. They top it with avocado and cilantro. Not sure I’ll ever be back in Birmingham, but if I am I’ll be at Carrigan’s.

This place does local flair & brews right. I always get great service the moment i walk in the door. The food is delicious! I recommend the kung fu wings and the fried chicken. Those wings doe? SOGOOD! A great sweet, stick flavor and crunch. And the inside is so juicy and flavorful! They have a great beer seliction too. Local & hard to find beers. I have been told the head bartender is an award winning drink slinger. The next time I’m there I’m ordering a cocktail! Bring your pup and sit on the roof top patio!
