Hmm. I could see the charm of this place. Service was decent. Atmosphere was interesting. Food. I had better elsewhere but hey, it Bham. I visit this place once a year.

Crawfish is great. The gumbo is really the best I’ve had in Alabama. Prices are not too bad. Received fairly good customer service so any time I’m in the area and have a taste for it. I know I will stop by

Crawfish etoufee was phenomenal(but spicy!) and mashed potatoes were perfect! Going back soon to try out the bread pudding!

This place is great! I had the grilled shrimp over potatoes and it was fantastic! Nice outdoor seating!

Best Cajun food in the Ham. It’s a laid back fun place with outdoor seating. Great after a long hot day!

I had lunch with an old friend today at Crazy Cajuns’. Upon our arrival it was apparent the patio was the preferred seating option for most patrons, as it was at capacity. The cramped interior dining area had several seating options available upon our arrival around noon; however, the seating options dwindled soon thereafter. At the recommendation of my friend I ordered a Po-Boy. I had an Oyster and Shrimp Po-Boy with Jambalaya. The Oysters, Shrimp and Jambalaya were good, well-seasoned and freshly prepared. Several other diners ordered crawfish and they looked great. I would have opted for the boil as well ordinarily, but not in work attire. The bill with a couple po-boys with 1 side each and water totaled roughly $ 25.00 excluding tip. The service was friendly and prompt. I would rank Crazy Cajuns’ higher than a couple far more expensive and recognizable«Cajun» restaurants in the Hoover area but not quite to the caliber of my favorite Cajun spot in the Bessemer. Crazy Cajun ‘s version of Cajun cuisine is well executed and representative of NOLA flavor.

My husband and I come here when we miss NOLA food. Such great flavor! I recommend the blacked tuna po’boy! My husband always gets the shrimp basket! The crawfish are to die for!!! The wait staff is consistently nice and friendly! I really would recommend this place as a nice place to eat with friends. On a good day I would eat out side on the little deck! So good!

This is a regular dinner spot for me and my husband. The food is always good and always spicy! Just a warning that some menu items may be too spicy for a lot of people. I usually get fried oysters along with the jambalaya and mashed potatoes – both are really fabulous, but again, they are very spicy. My husband loves the gumbo. The wait staff can be hit or miss – some are really friendly and on top of their game, others not so much. Overall, we will keep coming back for more!

The best crab cakes of all time! The mashed potatoes were silky and creamy and the crawfish etoufee was spectacular. If I had to come up with a complaint, it would be the lack of draft beer, but hey, the can/bottle selection was still very good.

Food was good. On food alone I would give 3 – 4 stars. Problem, VERY slow, poor, and disorganized service. 2+ hours for lunch. The food was the reason I rated as high as I did. Again it wasn’t great but it was good. They apologized but do a good job in the first place and no apology would be necessary. Should have paid attention to the other reviews. Seems service is a huge problem with this place.

The food is delicious and the service is fast. However, the restaurant is small. It holds a lot of people because they maximize the space. There are a lot of options on the menu. I hope to try everything on it, so I’ll definitely be back

Extremely slow service, cold food and only ok Cajun food. I thought the crawfish ettoufee was overly spicy with out real flavor. I love spicy but with taste and this was lacking. We were only one of 2 tables and it took almost an hour to get our simple grilled fish which was then cold. For the price I don’t expect a lot but I do expect more than what we got

They are great. They hosted the event at my job and the food was great. Me and co workers went there again and they are very good. The only this is I wish they ask how spicy you want your food. The crawfish étouffée is awesome but wayyyy too spicy. everything else is awesome.

The fried gator tail and crab claws are amazing. The gumbo is to die for and they also do special order deep fried Cajun Turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Chicken Alfredo is by far my favorite dish.

Bang, bang, bang… What’s that sound? Oh, that’s the wait staff shooting themselves in the foot. If there are cute young girls in the dining room, then expect to be ignored. Dining room half full, outside about the same, we waited almost 15 minutes to have our order taken while those young and blonde seemed to have no delays at all. There was more than enough staff, they simply ignored folks that didn’t seem like a potential date. The food is good but service is typically spotty.

When we went it was on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t too busy. We had about 10 people in our party and decided to sit outside. The small place is what it is and has been for years. It’s a small great Cajun place. Nothing classy about it. Everyone wears street clothes to work. but great service. Just good Cajun food and cold beer. We sampled several dishes from the crab claws to boudin. All of it was just the right amount of spice.

Really good food. Not the best service. If you can get passed the wait time I would recommend trying it out!

The service was friendly but deplorably slow. We were pretty sure our server totally forgot to put in our order. The tables near us that sat down after we did all were done eating before we got our food. The grits were delicious. Everything was spicier than we expected but had good flavors. We were just so hungry and annoyed by the time we got it more than an hour after ordering. The staff was clearly aware of the delay but offered nothing except a quick apology.

Excellent food! Recommend shrimp over potatoes but everything I’ve had has been good. As a past native of New Orleans I know what Cajun food should taste like.

I arrived on Saturday night around 7PM. The place was crowded, with all the outside seating taken(30 min wait). Inside it was busy too, but we found a table there immediately. The place is atmospheric, reminding you of places on the coast, and it had the smell of seafood. It does not have a fancy atmosphere. It’s clearly a place where people enjoy drinks. Inside was a little loud for conversation but okay. The menu has virtually nothing for vegetarians, but fortunately I can eat fish. The waiter was moderately attentive and gave his opinions generously – I liked that. I ordered a tuna-steak poboy. The steak was a little rare. It didn’t seem blackened, as ordered. The sauce was spicy and good. The portion was generous. The side of red beans and rice was tasty. I was pleased by but not blown away by the meal. My friend had the crawfish etoufee. It had a good thick sauce and a decent amount of crawfish. The taste was good, but not heavily spiced. I think most people would be pleased by it. This seems like a decent restaurant with okay prices. I don’t think I would go far to seek it out, but it is worth visiting if you’re in the area.
