Drury Inn & Suites

I stayed here for a business trip in Birmingham. This hotel is really top notch for the price. The general manager is fantastic. He greets everyone, and truly makes you feel as if you are not just a number.
There is a full dinner in hotel, which you could not ask for anything better. Full breakfast as well, which was by far better then any of the other mid range hotels that come with breakfast.
There was a guest birthday, and the bartender sang happy birthday in the dining room. Staff really goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. I will be returning for my next stay, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great location, mall is right down the street with many food and shopping options as well.

For our first stay at a Drury Inn, we chose this hotel because of the high rating and the pet-​friendly aspect. At check in, the manager Louis asked what we were in town for, and when he discovered it was to visit an attraction that they partner with, he found us a discount that saved us $ 40! We got a suite, and it was worth every penny. In addition to a queen bedroom with a door, there was a large living area that included an armoire holding a fridge and microwave, a full size sleeper sofa, a recliner, an arm chair, coffee table, 2 end tables, and enough room between the sitting area and the wall on both ends to fit a roll away if needed. Very large clean bathroom with granite and 2 sinks.
The very reasonable rate ($ 119) included breakfast and happy hour. Breakfast included a waffle station, coffee, juice, breads, muffins, scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, salsa, biscuits, gravy, and sausage, along with cereal, yogurt, and fruit. The evening Kickback menu included tortilla chips, cheese sauce, jalapeños and salsa; a salad bar with lettuce mix, carrots, tomatoes, croutons, Ranch, and Balsamic vinegarette; hot dogs with condiments (ketchup, mustard, tabasco, pickle relish) buns, chopped fresh onions, and cheese; chili with meat and beans; and baked potatoes with butter, sour cream, and cheese. It was a well thought out menu as people made all kinds of variations like chili cheese dogs, nachos with chili, cheese, jalapeños, and sour cream, hot dogs with chili and cheese sauce, and chili-​cheese baked potatoes. It was more than enough for a complete dinner and they do this 7 nights a week. Most places we stay that offer a happy hour are Mon-​Thurs and have a very small variety compared to this. The second evening we stayed had a similar menu, with 2 varieties of soup replacing the chili.
They also offer a small but well-​stocked bar with several beers, 5 – 6 wine varieties, and all the basic liquors. Although no one mentioned it, I believe it is a 2 drink max, but they were strong so that should do! The guy made me a martini like I was Bond. He poked holes in one plastic cup, mixed the drink in another (including a splash of olive juice) put it in another cup with ice, shook it up, then drained it through the slit cup into the drinking glass. Yep, at a hotel happy hour. They also had Tequila Sunrise mixed up and many other offerings.
The manager Louis Verde appears to work 24/​7, and is «on» at all times. He seemed to know personal details about almost everyone that walked in (such as asking one girl how long it took her to complete her marathon that morning). He clearly takes an interest in every guest, and it shows in the way everyone treats guests. I noticed him cleaning up the floor after a guest missed the trash can with his drink. There were plenty of other employees nearby, including 2 trainees, but he just handled it himself. That really impressed me.
There’s an indoor/​outdoor pool, jacuzzi, exercise room, and 2 public computers. All in all, this was as nice as most of the much more expensive hotel chain we usually frequent. If you are traveling with a pet, or appreciate a free breakfast and basically dinner, this is a great option. Oh, and even though pets are allowed we never saw on in public areas or heard barking. BTW — the 2 queen room we almost booked was about $ 89. There’s a Pappadeuxs (good cajun) basically in the parking lot, and their takeout is great if you need a meal and don’t want to fight traffic.

We are forever spoiled! Great service and good rates. Staff was exceedingly friendly — from the front desk to the margarita maker ;-) — they make you feel like you just came home. Recommendations for food and even a movie were wonderful!

From check in to check out, the staff here are amazing. Front desk staff were busy but took time to joke around with me for a second, met cleaning crew member on top floor who was as nice as anyone I’ve ever met. This morning I found out why they are so customer centric. The manager, dressed in an exquisite suite, spent time cleaning tables, sitting down every few minutes to converse with guests, got up and helped guests load luggage into their cars. He is the example of a true servant leader. What a refreshing experience.
The room? Spacious, climate controlled, clean, comfortable, well lit. Just as nice as any 5 star I’ve ever stayed in. The breakfast? Many options, eggs, biscuits, sausage, gravy, cereals, coffee, juices and coffee. Can’t beat it.
Yes, I do recommend this hotel and am making plans to stay here again the next time I’m staying overnight in Birmingham.

This place has been a great stay for business. The staff has been amazing, going above and beyond printing out a document I needed. They have cocktails and apps from 5 – 7. Are they great? No, but they are free and it was nice to unwind in the lobby. Would so stay here again.

First and last time to stay at a Drury Hotel! Décor in rooms was dated. Carpet was sticky! Couldn’t hear tv over loud air conditioning unit much less get a good nights sleep. Entire bathroom floor flooded while showering because of flimsy shower curtain! Glad we only had to stay one night!

Very good price, location and breakfast /​dinner included in price. Food is nothing fancy but sure is practical particularly if you are with kids and wanting to hit the road ASAP.

If you are wanting a little private time with your spouse, this is not the hotel for you. Bustling lobby full of teenagers– small children in the hot tub. It was just not for us.
We checked out ten minutes after we checked in.
Lobby offers free popcorn. It was yummy!
Rooms were clean.
Front desk blonde female was NOT friendly, even before we decided to check out! Lighten up! :)

Clean rooms. Nightlyfree snacks and cocktails. Free Internet. Friendly staff. Good free breakfast too. Would come again.

Moving from SC to TX & needed a SAFE & comfy place to stay! This was the place. Treated like royalty by EVERYONE! Front desk staff, pc help desk, bartender & wait staff! Thanks Everyone for making the start of my next chapter in life so perfect & relaxing!

The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, the complimentary meals have been good and the staff have been very nice and extremely helpful. I would stay here again, in a heartbeat an added plus for us was it was dog friendly!

Stayed here while traveling for work. Overall it is a decent hotel. The staff are very friendly and they have a free breakfast and happy hour with food and drinks. The location isn’t great because you are on a major highway. The fitness center was also subpar. It basically consisted of a treadmill and TV.

This place only gets 2 stars because the manager I talked to was extremely nice and helpful and really made me feel better about the whole situation.
The hotel is very dark and has low ceilings… we discussed the «creepy factor» before getting to our room.
The first room they put us in had part of a used condom beside the bed and I thought it was trash and picked it up. I spent the next 5 minutes trying not to throw up while my girlfriend called the front desk and got us another room.
Unfortunately the condom was not the only problem. There was something mysterious and brown smeared on the bathroom floor and other random spots where it had obviously not been mopped. The shower ceiling had a pubic hair stuck to it… how does that even happen??? There were hairs on the toilet and floor, in the bed, and stuck to the pillows. The headboard and side table had something spilled/​sprayed on them that had not been wiped up. The bench at the end of the bed had a large white stain on it. This room had not been vacuumed, or cleaned in any way besides emptying the trash, and making the bed, I guess.
The second room was only better because it lacked a used condom. There was a pacifier behind the bed, which had been pulled out enough that I saw it without specifically looking behing the bed. There was random stuff all over the floor (hair curler pin, balled up paper, unfolded paper clip, twisty tie that my cat was playing with when I found it)
The heater was missing the bottom panel so there were all sorts of exposed wires for my pets to chew on. I blocked it off with a towel for the night because we were too tired to go elsewhere.
The mirrored closet door had something spilled on it that they didn’t bother to wipe off.
There were piles of dead bug pieces beside the heaters that are under the windows.
The luggage cart sounded like I was driving a semi through the hallway and was missing some of the bars on the side.
It’s likely that both rooms were cleaned by the same housekeeper because they were only a few doors apart so the entire hotel is probably not that dirty, but there should be an executive housekeeper checking the rooms behind the housekeepers and if they aren’t doing that… any room could be as nasty as ours were.
Like I said at the beginning of the review, the manager was VERY nice and understanding and apologized many times for the experience. She did not charge us for the night’s stay and I actually left feeling pretty good about the interaction, which is unusual because I really hate having to complain about things to people when it’s not directly their fault.
If you stay here, just make sure you thoroughly check your room before getting settled in so switching rooms will be easier and I hope no one else has the horrifying experience of touching a used condom from some random person who has who-​knows-​what. *shudder*

First time staying at The Drury Hotel. Good value, comfortable suite with lots of space. Also a great location just off 459. The staff was helpful, the food was average (but free). Also, Happy Hour from 5:30 to 7:00.
I would rate it higher if it was new. For the money, I’m a fan!

What a fantastic hotel! With a price point below a Holiday Inn, Drury Inn was a wonderful place to stay. The lobby and room décor are very nicely decorated. The indoor/​outdoor pool was adequate and hot tub was very clean.
In the evening time, there is a Happy Hour from 5:30 to 7 where you can have 3 free drinks from a full bar. In the morning, there is a free full breakfast including scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, and french toast.
Pets are allowed
Great place, highly recommend it is you need a nice mid range priced hotel near downtown Birmingham.
