I am certainly not one to shy away from a karaōke challenge, but unfortunately we had previous plans and disappointingly had to leave earlier than the start of the sing-fest. That did not deter from swinging by, snagging a bite of Bottletree’s totally awesome grub(the hummus rocks and sweet potato fries rule!), and hanging out with the Unilocaler Elite… not to mention the dip into the Unilocal grab bag!(This flask has me set for football season!) It’s always fun to catch up with everyone in the flesh. This is a first-class group, and Will & the gang organized another hit event. I’m looking forward to the next one!

There’s a reason Unilocal excels over other business review sites, and that’s because it greatly rewards its avid contributors! Anytime there is no limit on a select few beers from the bar, you gain some points in my book. Combine that with Star Wars V playing in the background, fun head cut-outs for group pics, and karaōke to round the night out, and you have yourself a decent Monday night. That’s right… MONDAY. Hard to top for the rest of the week, which is true for any week I check out an Elite event. All I can say is… start pitching on some useful words so you can join in on the fun and meet the other contributors in Bham!

I’m going to preface this review with the fact that I am a BIG fan of Bottletree. So, I was stoked to see we were having a Unilocal event there. It definitely did not disappoint. As usual, Will planned an excellent time filled with delicious food and tasty beer. I particularly enjoyed the bag of Unilocal goodies I got to draw from(free Unilocal mug!). As far as food, I had the veggie quesadilla and the hummus. Both were delicious and tasted very fresh. I also ordered the garden grill. It’s a veggie dish consisting of quinoa and squash/onions/tomatoes and your pick of garlic soy or a peanut sauce. You can add various meat options to it, and, being a carnivore, I add the grilled chicken to mine. it’s one of my favorite dishes in town. I would highly recommend it. We took the time to hang out on Bottletree’s ecclectic patio. It’s a very chill environment that’s great to have a conversation away from the music. The night wrapped up with karaōke which my bf and I partook in. We were pretty aweful, but it was fun, and some of the other acts were quite good. Overall, great event and time had by all!

Really enjoyed getting out to Bottletree for the Unilocal event this past week! Good People IPA hit the spot and Bottletree offered a few tastes of their appetizers. The most interesting was part of the hummus platter – there was a hummus that tasted like Christmas… I don’t know what ingredient was in it, but it had an interesting kick. My friend and I looked at the menu and saw the Jalapeño hummus, but it didn’t really seem like that was it. The pitas with the hummus platter were so warm and fluffy… yum! Quesadilla sample was good too – and since it was vegetarian, it felt more healthy ;) Thanks Unilocal(and Will!) for another fun evening out!

Overall, the Unilocal Bottletree: 5 Star Karaōke Party was another great event hosted by Will, Aimee, and the rest of the Unilocal crew! The ambiance, awesome Good People beer(IPA& Pale Ale), food(vegetarian fare), fun antics, music, and karaōke was lots of fun! I enjoyed chatting with many of the familiar and new faces of the Birmingham Unilocal community! In addition, there were lots of interesting and cool people who stopped in for the event. Heck, I think I even found a new yoga instructor(the lovely Ms. Allie of Birmingham Yoga) as a result of meeting some new local people. It was an eclectic mix of mingling with people, enjoying local brews from Good People Brewing, eating delicious food from Bottletree(hummus with warm pita bread, vegetarian Viking funeral dish with sweet potatoes, vegan chilli, and pimento cheese), the amazing backdrop of Bottletree’s understated cool vibe, Monday night $ 1 wells, and entertaining karaōke singing! Thanks for all of your hard work Will, Aimee, and the rest of the Unilocal staffers! Each of you are such gracious hosts and local business advocates. You should definitely stop by Bottletree for a local concert or event if you have not because it is always a good time :)
