A delightful Italian coffee bistro with great décor and authentic food.

First time here. The reason? The crepes. Since one of the crepes restaurant closed down on Old Woodward, I have been searching a restaurant which serve crepes. I was going to try one in Northville today, but accidentally found this restaurant on Unilocal. So here I am. The price is not cheap. But it is kind of the standard in town. Crepes are moist. In fact, they are yummy and I think I can finish two orders by myself. Both of us ordered the strawberry crepes and the Tiramisu. They give me the fresh strawberry as they have the ingredient today. Love that! Surprisingly, the Tiramisu is only okay. It trends to be a little dry. Café Latte is good though. Smooth and coffee tastes good. We sit outside with the nice weather. It is so relaxing. The service may be a little slow for someone, but servers are nice. If you are in a hurry, maybe you should let the them know. Otherwise, I would just enjoy the place and the food.

It was good. I like. Little expensive espresso. Expected slightly more for price, still good.

Really really good. I have been five times or so and sampled a substantial part of the menu. Te food is fresh. Executed great. Everything tastes good and like it should. Eggs prepared perfect. Salads fresh and tasty. Pasta is great. The desserts and coffee all match what you would get(save for the atmosphere) in Italy. My only quarrels are the ice tea thing. One meal with 9 dollars in ice tea. I just won’t ever order it again Also the service tend to be on the let’s just say relaxed side. It often takes awhile to get attention and the food is not rushed. So this is not the place for a quick lunch. Also the prices I think are fair but it’s not cheap. Generally lunch for two with tip is running about 35 dollars But really really tasty

This is a terrific addition in Birmingham. In a sea of American food restaurants, this place feels like what you would hope it would, a touch of Europe. Relaxed, it does what it does very well and does not try to go beyond its boundaries. Try the Italian donut with marscapone and nutella – really, it redefines doughnutery. The sandwiches are fabulous, it is one of the only places around here with pâté, which I love, and the espresso is far and away the best in town. Add waiters in black pants, white shirts and ties, standing out front arms folded, watching the passing parade, it feels like Rome. Hope they get a wine and beer license, and it would be perfecto.

Amazing deserts. I went back 3 nights in a row to sample different things and they were all amazing! The petit cannoli, tiramisu were great!

The food was tasty, good presentation and the right amount. Also, the ambiance is great. Only complaint is that it’s a bit pricey. Nutella berry crêpe was great!

I loved this European café set in downtown Birmingham. My chicken caprese was outstanding and I loved the ambience. The service was great and the owner came over to make sure we were doing well. I can’t wait to go back:

I tried La Strada for the first time today, for lunch. It is a great location in downtown Birmingham, and the restaurant space is very nice. They certainly did a good job modeling it after Italian style coffee shops and trattorias. The menu is great, and presented very nicely. I had a panini, and it was great. The bread was fresh and delicious. The waiter was prompt and very friendly. The prices were fair and reasonable. There was one thing that drove me nuts, and will probably serve as the main reason I will not come here for lunch during the work week too often, and that is the fact that I was not given free refills on my ice tea. When I first received my iced tea, it was in a tall glass completely filled up with ice, so I got about 4 gulps from my straw and it was gone – no problem, right? He’ll just refill it, which he did(he even asked if I wanted a refill). Then, I got another refill. Because of how much ice was in the cup, each pour was very small(this often happens with ice tea at restaurants). When the bill came, I was charged for 3 iced teas! I paid almost $ 8 for three tiny iced teas! I am a HUGE iced tea guy, and need to have 2 – 4 with my lunch, so unless they start offering free refills here, I’m not going to be making this a regular lunch spot during the work week. Indeed, not offering free refills is certainly«very European,» but hey, when you make a restaurant in the U.S. to be «euro-style,» in my opinion it behooves the owner to keep the small things that Americans like, such as free refills for brewed iced tea, fountain drinks, etc. Just my two cents! Otherwise this place is fantastic!

i love this coffee shop! it’s open late, they have great coffee and desserts, good service(waiter will come to you or you can order at the counter to-go), and great ambiance. nice place to catch up with friends or even hang out on your own. it would be helpful if their treats at the counter had little labels because i never know what i am looking at and the desserts seem to rotate every now and then.

Italian café style coffee shop that is so much more. Great seating options for one to eight people. Booths, café tables inside and out, cozy booths and private nooks. Grab a seat and a waiter will find you. We chose to sit outside, ordered coffees and shared an Almond croissant. Very nice menu with breakfast and brunch options. I would love to go back and try out more — especially the cheese and meat boards. Impressive case of bakery items are available. The avocado toast, with optional smoked salmon was inciting, however, we were waiting for our reservation elsewhere, so we kept coffees and shared the pastry. Coffees were good and reasonably priced. The croissant was excellent, dusted with powdered sugar. Service was impeccable — professional yet light. If you are in a hurry, tell them, otherwise, relax and enjoy.

I really wanted to try their coffee, but I was recovering from a bad cold and opted for tea. They have an impressive collection of teas as well. Very much enjoyed my panini, and my friend enjoyed his margherita pizza(and his coffee). The ambiance is very nice, servers are attentive, and even at 9:30PM on a Friday night there were people coming in and out. If you are looking for a fast, «get in, get the hell out» type of coffee shop, this is not the place for you. The vibe is far more European than American, but I’m glad it’s here.

Great customer service, the tea was amazing, and the atmosphere was so relaxing! I will definitely be coming back here in the future. It felt like I was in Italy or some other European country. Loved it!

Very cute. Attentive service. Beautiful pastries. It is definitely pricy but not anymore than I expected. Great place to meet up with girlfriends for coffee and a chat.

Five stars for the service and friendliness! The waiter was really helpful and gave me a really detailed background about the coffee. «Crazy Fresh Coffee» from Royal Oak! Tasted great out of the French press the guy brought to the table. To think I almost went to Starbucks for my morning fix that Sunday! Not having tasted the food or the delicious looking bakery items I cannot say more then the atmosphere and friendly service deserve the five starts. But I’d be willing to try anything in my sacred intestines from this awesome place!

A Birmingham friend found out about this place recently and so he, I, and a coworker friend of his tried it out today. They don’t have a website, and my friend was like«so they basically don’t exist then» … ha.(but it’s kind of true) So everything I knew about this restaurant before I went here today I gleaned off Unilocal. I ordered the San Daniela sandwich($ 10.95) and it was huge and also very tasty. It had prosciutto(?), arugula with balsamic, and fresh mozzarella, and it was on ciabatta bread. My friend ordered a margarita pizza, which was also large, and his coworker friend ordered pasta. We were looking at the desserts after dinner too and all of those looked good, and they have crepes as well as a varied breakfast menu. I definitely want to come here again, maybe just for dessert this time! It was very European, down to the tiny water glass and carafe of water that the waiter left at the table. Service was fine too, not as intrusive as other places I’ve been to(where they come to your table every five minutes) but we weren’t neglected either. The prices are a little pricey but they’re fairly standard for Birmingham, and they’re reasonable when you consider the quality and the atmosphere too. My only complaint is that the music was a little loud … it was Italian-type music and seemed a bit out of place /too loud for the space.

Tucked away in downtown Birmingham is a little piece of European excellence. From the outside, you see a café with cozy tables and décor. However, when you step inside, you will find a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have gone here two days in a row and tomorrow may make my third. The crepes leave me speechless and the croissants melt in my mouth.

Found a quaint and authentic little Italian coffee house in Birmingham, #Michigan. Italian art and old world photography covers the walls while music overhead blends classical and traditional tunes. And the coffee — I had a cappuccino — and a Nutella Tiramisu were fantastic! Go, and bring a date to La Strada Dolci e Caffe.

It is rare that I give 5 stars but if you are as much of a coffee snob as I am you will agree. Typically I am forced to order lattes to hide the awful roast but not here! Perfectly roasted every time and with the ambiance you have your perfect café. The spreads are excellent as is the bread which I assume is made in house like it is at Tre Monti. The owner never fails to achieve quality on every level. The menu items are fresh, simple and balanced, true to the Italian food culture. You cannot go wrong with any of the desserts or pastry items, are delectable especially anything chocolate to compliment a cup of coffee. The service is something that is never overlooked and is an intricate part of the experience here. Well done La Strada Dolci e Caffe!

A pleasant surprise that I only recently heard about popping up close to home. We stopped in recently for brunch and left fairly impressed. Beautiful and meticulous, a place to swing in for a quick coffee and pastry, or relax in one of their lounging sections and stay for awhile. Service was incredibly polite and professional, but rather slow. This was no doubt due to the massive influx of people right after we seated. Coffee was fantastic, juice was fresh squeezed. They were out of quite a few things that I wanted to try(mainly due to a delay in their Italian burratta shipment), but I ended up ordering the cheese croissant, and the bianco pizza. We passed around the prosciutto and melon(terrific, melts on the tongue). A number of their offerings are pulled directly off the menu from Tre Monti. A very good thing. The Caesar was fantastic and the other salads and antipasti I had tried before when we dined at its more established Italian brother. All in all, a surprisingly good addition to the local coffee/brunch scene. I’m sure I’ll be seeing it again.

Look & Feel: classy, relaxing and inviting. A true Italia experience! Service: absolutely exceptional. Everyone is dressed up, informed and ready to take care of you. It may sound like a fancy attire place but it’s really nice to hang out with friends. Food: i had the apricot black tea with a tiramisu. The tea is incredible good, no sugar needed and flavorful. My friends had the coffee and they liked it. Looking forward to coming back for breakfast.

Real authentic Italian place for both cafè and food! So many specialties finely done, delivered with an uncharted level of professionalism and courtesy. In one word, service is OUTSTANDING! A perfect place for a getaway experience from our everyday stressful lives. Background classical music will make you feel relaxed and super-cozy! Once you try this place, you can’t way to come back. ADDICTIVE!
