Publix

I’ve been two five Publix locations throughout the Birmingham area and this is by far the best one there is. I have yet to have even a semblance of a dissatisfactory visit to the Valleydale Village location. Everyone at this Publix is so nice, sweet and just pleasant to be around!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Despite knowing about the regular traffic violations, a.k.a. countless near misses that happen in their parking lot every day, and even a purse theft recently, Publix has ZERO security cameras in the parking lot and no plans to install any! I narrowly avoided injury in the parking lot last night due to another Publix customer driving dangerously, and management doesn’t care. I COULD HAVE DIED and they wouldn’t even be able to provide a license plate number.
However, if you survive past the parking lot, the selection is good and the customer service is charming.

The store is clean and most of the staff is great. Unfortunately our experience is not positive othwrwise. The prices are generally high compared to the not so close-​by competition.
The bakery service is terrible! They advertise (or did at one time) that they sell fresh baked bread. They don’t, they do bake bread everyday, but you can’t purchase that bread– you can only have yesterdays. If you ask for fresh bread, they won’t give it too you, and were rude to us about it. They also are terribly inconsistent on the baking. Sometimes it is over-​baked or (more often) not close to done at all. This has been on-​going for years.
Three times we found a small plastic part in the one-​serving pies. When we talked to the bakery about it, their response was «you can’t prove it»… ?! …really, that’s was the response. We were not asking for anything (not even a refund), just letting them know.
Special requests: a number of times we have requested special order items, which they are glad to accept, but more often then not, nothing becomes of it (even after repeatedly asking). On occasion they do get the item, but we only find out because we find it on the shelf.
A few of the cashiers have little knowledge of the fruit & vegetables. We regularly find things like an avocado sold as a mango.
This store is a pefect example of what limited competition will get you. Fortunately the new WinnDixie is open now.

Once again another great Publix location! Very friendly and helpful workers. Always smiling and asking how they can help. The deli is always on point and gets my orders correct. The store is always clean, easy to get in and out! The fruit is always fresh, but expensive!

These guys are great. They always have me scripts ready with a friendly attitude.

Great people and friendly service. They take coupons from any store, and the prices are competitive.
