I especially like the BBQ chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger and the macaroni and cheese is the best in Birmingham! I buy it by the pint and sometimes just eat it as a meal. I know, that’s such a fat girl move, but it’s just that good. The wings are golden and crisp, and the side orders are plentiful. My mom loves their rib tips and cracklings muffins.. If you’ve never been here, and you’re a BBQ lover, you are missing out! Besides the food, the best thing is, you will be supporting a small, locally owned neighborhood business. Check them out. You will thank me later.

This is a great establishment! Excellent ribs and BBQ, soothing catfish, the best wings, and let’s not forget the unforgettable homemade sides. I can’t just speak of one favorite item from Rib It Up! You’ll love it! The owners and servers are so nice and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed, and you can catch a game on a large screen TV while you eat! Oh and don’t forget your cracklin cornbread!

It’s my favorite barbecue restaurant to go to. I grew up coming to Rib It Up. I have tried other barbecue places but I always comeback to them. I have always had a great experience.

I love this joint. A year ago I moved back to California and their loaded baked potato has taunted and haunted me. I’m back in the ham to visit and you best believe I’m popping in ! They’re always very friendly and courteous.

I didn’t like the place. They were friendly and professional. However, the BBQ pullled pork sandwich didn’t have that much BBQ sauce on it. If you have a well seasoned meat and a delicous sauce… then that’s ok. This was not the case with this sandwich. The fries were ok. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Yummy DELICIOUS ribs. It’s hard to find really good ribs around Birmingham. Home-cooked vegetables. Great tasting food that tastes homemade. Don’t go late, though to get vegetables. I went last night around nine and ordered field peas and they were mushy. They should have been discarded. Obviously they were on the burner too long. I was a little disappointed, because I ordered them on Friday and they were very tasty. I also recommend the catfish platter. I do agree with the previous poster about the lemon slices. A nice touch, but it kind of changed the flavor profile of fried catfish. The catfish was not the best I ever had, but VERY tasty and a good value. Overall I can’t really criticize this place. From what I can see, they are clean and have a good health rating. I don’t know why they aren’t more well-known. I’m going to continue to visit and will update my review. Suggestion: Offer more sides and expand your menu… squash casserole, maybe? Idk… I will be back. Just keep up the quality.

Wow, funny how 4 years changes things. The first time I ate here in 2008 I raved about Rib-It-Up’s food. Now, not so much. Their slogan is «The Finest Barbecue Around». Well if this is Birmingham’s finest barbecue, then BBQ lovers in B’Ham are screwed. The rib tips used to be so succulent, juicy, and fall off the bone tender. I asked my mother, who ordered a rib tip plate, what she thought of her ribs. She said, «They are tender, but I’ve had better!» I ordered the catfish plate with two sides and a cornbread muffin. I’ve never been a fan of their cornbread, so I wasn’t expecting much from that. My catfish was good & appropriately crispy, however I hate that they laid it on top of two lemon slices. Everybody does not like lemon tasting fried catfish, I know I sure do not! As far as the sides, I must say the fried okra and sweet potatoes were delicious. In fact, I couldn’t keep my hands off the okra. However, the mac n cheese. *smh* Lawd, the mac n cheese was terrible. I literally had a stanky face while eating it. Not only was it dry, but it lacked any type of flavor. I was too done. Also, the collards. *double head shake* Since when did soul food places start messing up the mac n cheese AND the collard greens?! That’s just down right damn disrespectful! Anywhoo, at some point Rib-It-Up fell off over the years. Which is truly a shame. So, if you’re in B’Ham find you another BBQ place, because this one ain’t it.
