Ordered the chicken parmisian. Asked waiter if it was any good. He said it looks better, they used to use chicken fingers. Should have gotten up right then, but went ahead and ordered it. When it came out I knew it was a Sysico chicken fried chicken with some kind of tomato sauce and white and orange colored cheese on top of linguine. Ate half and left rest on the plate, could have taken it back to the hotel and put it in the fridge, but it wasn’t worth keeping. Went by Sat to eat and they had a private party, a private party on a Sat., you have to be kidding. Waiter was nice so I didn’t rant, should have but hey, nice for a change.

We went for brunch recently with a group of five. Four of us ordered eggs benedict, and all of them were overcooked so that the egg yolks were completely solid. Everything else was tasty, though.

Silvertron Café is one of our local favorites. It’s nestled in the artsy Forest Park district, next door to the funky Naked Art Gallery and across from the eclectic Zoe consignment shop. My absolute favorite dish is the Pecan Crusted Tilapia Tacos. It comes with three soft shell tacos filled with pecan crusted tilapia, cabbage and topped with and amazing remoulade. It comes with one side and I always pick the sweet potato fries. I try to venue out and try new dishes but I always go back to this because it is that good. Somehow I just discovered their Sunday brunch menu. I go the French toast with sausage and fruit. The portion was huge with six pieces of toast. My husband got the Florentine Benedict(Toasted English muffin, spinach, poached egg, chopped tomatoes, crumbled bacon and topped with hollandaise). Don’t forget the pitchers of Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. They also have lunch specials and a Monday pasta night(all pastas are $ 7.95). They are great about partnering with local groups and events for specials(bike groups, art events, movie nights, etc).

Came here on a Monday night to change things up. We were looking through B’ham restaurants that had deals that we could take advantage of and saw that they had a special on ALL of their pastas on Monday night. So… I made sure we came here. I had the fettuccine alferdo, one of my favorite Italian dishes. And I was not disappointed. Only thing I would have changed was to add mushrooms to it! Good service. Good prices(esp the specials on Mon night). We’ll be back.

Did you know that Monday night at Silvertron all pasta dishes are $ 7.95!!! I love to save money and get these deals, so once I learned about this, I grabbed the BF and headed over one Monday after work. We got in around 6PM and the place was pretty empty. We were seated immediately at a booth and began to look over the menu. We knew we were going to get pasta — it was only a matter of which one! I got the Penne All’Aldo — «Slightly» spicy tomato cream sauce with sautéed mushrooms and chicken. I put«slightly» in quotes because that’s what the menu says… it’s more than slightly. I’d say«moderately» spicy. Don’t order for the kids or for those who don’t like the heat! BF got the Fettuccine All’Alfredo — Creamy and peppery, topped with parmesan cheese with chicken. He seemed to enjoy his as well. Service was fast and we were in and out quickly. I’m sure we’ll be back for this special again.

I am a repeat customer here, it’s our favorite date night spot whenever we are both in Birmingham. The service is always excellent, quick, and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming and retro, we love admiring the artwork on the walls featuring local artists. I’ve ordered the pasta duo, the fish and chips, chicken fingers, and pecan crusted tilapia tacos in our many visits and I’ve never been disappointed! The portions are huge and delicious but if you can stop yourself from eating save room for the Baileys Brownie! It’s amazing and the perfect treat to end the night!

Tucked away near highland golf course, best part about this place is it seems hidden from other venues that get packed for Sunday brunch. We had no problem getting a table for breakfast, huge dining area with plenty of seats, great menu selection. Steak & Eggs are my go to, but the Breakfast fajita look the part and delivers. Great local spot that embraces the surrounding neighborhood with local artists on the wall, cool vibe, highly recommend.

Completely love Silvertron Café. From start to finish. The music feels like vintage cocktail hour. I had a Mary Pickford Cocktail and the blue burger. Divine!! cant wait to go back! The at area is super quaint with white lights strung.

Breakfast was stellar this morning! You can’t go wrong with the Brunch Fajita. It was plenty of food(two meals for me). The service was great and we didn’t wait long for our food. They also have really cool artwork on the walls and the ambience was nice. Due to all the plates you receive, the tables(not the booths) could be a bit bigger, especially with my fajita plates. Will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner!

I stumbled upon this place while I was aiming to visit Naked Art Gallery next door but was hungry. I was a visitor from Nashville going to Auburn for a business trip, then decided to stop by Birmingham on the way back. I was here for lunch on Saturday. Cute place; artsy, low-key, my server Jacob was great. Since I’m a beer snob, I decided to try their two-beer sampler of local brews… an Avondale saison and some high gravity Good People snake-something beer… ok I don’t remember the name… anyway, it equaled a glass of beer(or more, since of the 12% abv high gravity) for $ 5.25. For lunch, I had the salmon arugula salad. Delicious, the salmon was medium-rare with a crisp. The portion wasn’t huge but it was delicious. The server Jacob spent some time pointing out the best items on the menu and chatting; I felt great. I’d come back again if I’m ever in the area.

Love this establishment. Picked up dinner to go and it was delicious. Had the patty melt on rye. It was grilled to perfection and the onions were nicely caremelized. I upgraded my side to Mac and cheese. It was nice and you could taste it was homemade with a bechamel.

A few of us decided to stop by one afternoon for dinner because it was a friend’s birthday. We did not show up with a reservation(there were 11 of us) so we expected there to be a wait. While we were waiting for our group, we decided to make a stop at the bar. Three of us awkwardly stood there but there was no bartender to serve us. Servers kept popping by to make a drink for a table but there was no bartender. Just be aware of this if you decide that you are going to stop by for a drink. The hostess came back to the bar to ask us if we wanted the two back to back booths that were available or a few tables in the middle of the room. We decided on the booths and as we were walking to them another hostess sat one of the booths so we walked back to the bar. The manager came back and told us that she could do another two sets of booths in a few minutes with a table right next to the first booth. We agreed that we was the way to go. We were shortly seated in two back to back booths but the table that was suppose to be «next» to one table was actually further than what we expected. When we asked if we could move the table to the end of the booth or pull up a chair to the end of the table we were told no. Considering we walked in without a reservation it was okay that we were split up, but it was really awkward to be in three distant groups. I heard from a friend that the cocktails here are awesome but we did not get a cocktail menu with our food menus so I had to ask for one but boy am I glad I did! The cocktail menu is AMAZING. I really do wish I could have been served at the bar so that I could have tried multiple drinks over the course of the night. I had the Avondale Alley Cat and was not disappointed. If you do not get a cocktail menu with dinner, ask for one! It was the most fantastic part of service. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for the table. Unfortunately it was very stringy, didn’t have any artichokes(it was also not very creamy) and had some soggy chips sticking out of the top of the dip. There were no spoons in our table setting so this was much more complicated to eat than I expected. I got the house made veggie burger. The patty was very flavorful, but the sandwich does not come with condiments(just know you have to order them separate). The patty was circular but It was oddly served on a long hoagie bun. So when I got to the end of the sandwich I just had a large lump of bread that I did not end up eating. I’m not sure why a circular bun was not an option here. I also got the sweet potato fries with the sandwich and that was a great choice! They were perfectly crispy, sweet, and salty! The birthday girl at the table got the brownie dessert and it was fantastic. It was a chewy, chocolaty dessert bite with ice cream and a great end to the night. Overall, service was slow so my recommendation is to go for the cocktails and dessert!

We came in this evening for a celebration. We have been here three times prior. We decided we would bring my in laws here because they had never been and we have always enjoyed the place. We had a party of six, two of whom are my daughters both under the age of three. We ordered the special margarita pitcher and complimentary nachos because it was a celebration after all. They were great! We really love the artichoke hearts stuffed with cheese, so of course we ordered them along side. They were fabulous, as usual. What was not up to standards for me was the way my final situation was handled. I ordered the silvertron salad minus bacon and celery with the dressing on the side. I received the salad and ate maybe a fourth, considering I have my little beauties to tend to. I asked for a to go box with two sides of dressing. I got just what I asked for, but I was charged for the dressing. I brought this to the servers attention and politely said, «if you’re going to charge for sides of dressing, please let me know.» He proceeded to tell me that he didn’t realize it and it just happened when he rang it in. Then he said, you ordered a salad, you shouldn’t have been charged. I agree with all of this, but really after I notify you and you bring back my check, please do not make excuses. It’s just appropriate customer service to notify the customer when they are being charged for something. I enjoy the food at silvertron and of corse we will return, it just disappointed me that this is the response. This was a celebration. We came here. Silly things like charging for dressing when we spend the amount we spent is just silly, especially when I ordered a salad and asked for dressing for that!

I really love this place. The atmosphere has a bit of a oldies feel with lots of tables in a large room. The ceiling is beautiful and they have some cool art hanging up. I generally come to this place for some fairly prices awesome cocktails. I especially love their pimms cup. Today we came for brunch. I had the eggs Benedict with cheesy grits and we ordered a pitcher of mimosas. The picture was very tasty and priced low, but it is definitely from concentrate so don’t expect a «healthy» drink. The service was attentive and prompt, we were never waiting for anything. I only give 4 stars because I wasn’t overly impressed with the quality of the food. It had a very diner feel(which is very tasty) but wasn’t the bistro/café feel I was hoping for. Make sure you look out for their deals, they are pretty great.

I found this place a great, diverse, restaurant of Birmingham. I liked everything of it. Service was 5 stars with a plus. Food was tasty, nicely dished, and at a great price-point. They serve Big portions, btw. The place is cool, different, and in a nice area. The demographics includes a larger pool of people than the average restaurant in town, and that’s a big pro, IMO. Great place!

Silvertron is a great atmosphere, I love the building, but the food is only mediocre. I took my mom in yesterday and I could tell her mouth was watering for the pork shanks. I was so angry when they brought her out 2 dried up pieces of meat with a bunch of scattered fries on a CHIPPED plate. Are we not good enough for whole china? So tacky! It ruined the whole experience. Broken plates. Throw that garbage away! She ate the food but said it wasnt as tender as she was hoping for. I had fettuccini Alfredo. Nothing magical there. Not my first recommendation. If you aren’t expecting too much out of your meal, you’ll be ok. The sweet potato fries are good and I think the one time I had the Nonnas pasta it was good. Stay away from the lasagna.

The restaurant was empty when my group got there and the service was speedy. The portions were generous and our water glasses were never empty. Our waiter was very polite and provided awesome service. Definitely loved the butternut squash ravioli and pork shank with sweet potato fries. Vegetarian options were definitely accommodating. Desserts were smaller than I expected but definitely delicious and recommend the white chocolate bread pudding. The Bailey’s caramel brownie was delicious but a little dense. Overall fantastic meal and service!

Hey Marco, I mean this as nicely as possible… YOU’RE A LIAR. No one at our table at all of anything that was served to us. I apologize if your feelings are a little hurt, but I stand by what I said in my original review. The food is not as good, PERIOD. It’s my money that is being spent, so if I am not satisfied it’s my right to state it as such. Don’t worry, it will never happen again.

Came for a Sunday brunch. Arrived around 12 and was told there was a 20 minute wait. We were sat within ten minutes and received our food allots immediately after ordering it which was actually quite surprising. Unfortunately our pitcher of mimosas didn’t come until we were almost done our food but the waitress didn’t seem to mind us sitting there to finish the pitcher rather than chug it! We got the raspberry mimosas — I thought they were good but didn’t taste extremely raspberry like. However my friend thought the raspberry flavor can through well. Regardless I enjoyed them and you can’t really beat the price. As far as food, both of us loved what we ordered. I got florentine Benedict while my friend ordered the croissant Benedict. We both agreed that the eggs were perfectly poached — love that yummy runny yolk! The florentine had spinach with bacon and tomatoes — could have had just a little more bacon and tomatoes but was delicious either way. The hollandaise is one of the better I’ve had — not overly thick or over empowering blocking the rest of the flavors which is fairly common. My friend loved hers and enjoyed the flavors of the buttery croissant with everything. The Canadian bacon was well grilled. As far as mine, I thought the English muffin could’ve been just a LITTLE bit more toasted but I think that is just a personal preference. Eggs were only room temperature is my only complaint which I will dock a star for(would do half a star if possible). I just prefer my food super hot, especially when it comes to eggs. I have also been on a Tuesday night just for drinks — their margarita special is really unbeatable. Have tried the southern(the bourbon flavor is unique and really does add a lot to the drink), Hawaiian(mostly tasted pineapple juice but I was ok with this), pomegranate(nice and fruity), and spicy jalapeño(definitely spicy but a unique option). I bet the jalapeño margarita would be delicious with Mexican dishes! Will definitely be back. Would love to try their other food at lunch or dinner.
