I went to the Stardome to see Piff the Magic Dragon and I was blown away by the venue. The employees are super nice and helpful, especially the nice ladies at the box office. The food was also fantastic. I had the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and for my entrée I ordered the 10oz Ribeye with fries and rice pilaf. I’m usually not a fan of steaks that sent cooked on a grill, but their chefs made me absolutely fall in love with the steak that I had. The cheese sticks and sides were also amazing. The only bad thing I can say is that the tables were a bit dirty at the start of the show. Other than that, 4 stars!

I received free tickets and decided to give it a try. Since the tickets were free I had to order a minimum of five dollars worth of found. Pros: The place was setup better than I thought. I thought it would be some hole in the wall but it was setup pretty nice. The entertainers were pretty funny. I got good laugh from them. Cons: The food! I order burger and was really disappointed. You are really packed inside. I was seated at the bottom and I could barely move my chair around. Overall: If I get another free ticket I would go again but I would never just upright pay for a ticket.

Heike and I went to see DL Hughley last week. Being relatively new to Birmingham, AL, we weren’t sure how parking would be. However, we were confident DL would be more than just funny. GOTDAMN, if this Man is not the Truth, then it’s all a LIE!!! We caught the late show, and DL tore the roof off the place! Heike is German so you really have to come with it to get her to even half-ass chuckle; He had her ass rolling on the floor laughing her ass off. I wasn’t excepting it for the late show to be honest, but he really is one of the funniest people living. He is just fucking funny. He was calling people out on the fly with a natural gift to have you laugh at your damn self. Heike wasn’t sure she would enjoy the show, but is now this man’s fan. If you need a really good night out to laugh your ass off, you need to find out where this Man is performing. He’s one of the only guy’s I’ll pay good money to go see. I really didn’t pay enough to see this Man perform; he’s the Truth!

I have been to the comedy club plenty of times over the years and I will say that they do bring in some of the best acts around the country but heck… they they only comedy club in the city. My 1st issue are that the facilities need upgrading like one person said. The stage looks raggidy and the screens are dull. 2nd issue is the food is horrible. I suggest grab something before you go and that leads to the 3rd thing to where the service is slow. We waited over an hour for 2 beers and a speciality drink. The acts are the only reason I go. I suggest you eat and drink before you go.

Went to stardom after a long time… this place is deteriorating beyond comparison. They’ve somehow got it in their mind that service, food, and shows can be completely disengaged from todays’s reality. So here is the breakdown 1. They don’t serve water In a glass. You have to buy a water bottle. Bad for environment and they think people are dumb enough to pay for it. Their waitresses are rude because they think they are doing us a favor by serving. Basically, with this they are promoting that paying for beer or alcohol drink is going to give you bigger bang for your buck and oh yeah, and if you don’t want to drive home drunk. Pay for water that is abundantly available out of tap. Well, rest, I will leave it up to your imagination. 2. Food is so greasy no wonder comedians who come to birmingham make fun of people being fat, unhealthy and uneducated. Trying to eat healthy in this place is gonna to cost you more than two tubs of cheese fries. I paid $ 10 for a ‘Dome Salad’ that had lettuce, few strings of onions and crispy fried strings. Topped with god knows how much ranch. WTF? Once again, do they think people are too dumb to come back again and order this. Their hummus dip was tasteless and so called pita bread was hard and not cooked thoroughly. 3. They are still promoting themselves as place to be. This place probably hasn’t been re-imagined since 80’s. Videos are stale and screens are cracked. The stage is worn out, with bits are flying off when a performer walks on it. My idea of this review is to promote better environment. Fix stuff, treat people better and have healthy options for food. AND stopping selling water bottles, the environment you are part of and people who come both will benefit from it. Who the hell came up with that idea? Are you all suffering that much that you are now ‘selling’ water. Shame in you Stardome!!! The little choices like these reflect your character as business!

Last night I made a return to the Stardome Comedy Club after an extended absence… I have always had good experiences through the years and really don’t know why I have not been in years. But, this venue is well known for attracting the best comics in the industry. The theater is rather small, which gives an intimate, close up view of the performer on stage. As others have noted they do pack people in tightly so, be prepared to be close to your neighbors. But, the view of the stage is good anywhere, the lighting and sound systems are top notch. The food is uninspiring and bland. 2 steps below what you would find at any generic sports bar anywhere. But, in reality this is NOT where you go for a great(or even good) meal. We can a combo platter with chicken fingers, wings, fries and Onion Rings($ 18) which was fine… Some have complained about the servers, but to me, they were doing a pretty good job if you consider the cramped quarters and the time constraints of getting everything done during a live performance. Last night’s performer was Craig Shoemaker AKA«The LoveMaster». He performed for 2 hours of full speed comedy genius. We laughed so hard that we were exhausted when the show was over. Laughter is good medicine! I’d say to my fellow Unilocaler’s, don’t forget about this bright spot in Birmingham’s entertainment community. I know I won’t!

Preface: This review really doesn’t pertain to the comic– she was very funny! Parking: kinda tricky in between shows. As soon as we found a parking spot across the street, several spots opened up in the actual lot. Might want to circle the parking lot for a closer spot just in case. Lobby Wait time: longer than expected Minimum: Every person must purchase $ 5…which is quite easy to accomplish with one menu item Complaint(s): My beverage came out correctly in a timely manner. However, my chicken finger basket, came out incorrect the first time, the second time the manager brought it out and it was incorrect again, finally the third time was a charm. Several people at our table asked for waters and those took 30 – 45 minutes to arrive. To add injury to insult when it was time to check out, my ticket was incorrect– after that was fixed, I gave my card along with other tickets/cards, our server returned, I left a tip and went on my merry way. The next morning something told me to check my account and I noticed that I had been charged over $ 130 from the neighboring table. DISAPPOINTED. I returned to stardome with documentation of the mistake and though the manager apologized and admitted to the mistake last night… I was not informed. Apparently the mistake was noted as I was being charged; however, the server was slack and did not mention anything to me, no apology, no… hey, this is what you can expect… no common courtesy! How horrible?! I can understand the mistake; however, it was irresponsible, disrespectful and rude to not own up to a mistake made with consumers monies.
*I would strongly advise paying with cash if you anticipate enjoying a night of laughter… after all playing with OPP is not a laughing matter.

We have visited the Stardome many many times, seen: Sinbad Chris Tucker Shawn Jones and many many more. The staff is very nice, always helpful, the club is very consistent in their operations. Clean restrooms. Drinks and food delivered fast.(First round is always a little slow but that is expected) Some recent positive changes: Forced Gratuity has been eliminated off the check. Things I would change: Don’t force customers to buy tickets in pairs. I brought 3 people and had to pay for 4 seats. Not cool. The new DJ/Video DJ plays music so loud you can’t talk across the table during the pre-show. Still overall a five star experience.

Checked out Sheryl Underwood(Cheryl??) on Classic Weekend. This chic was HElarious! Money well spent — $ 28 bucks. The club itself it a bit cramped. Get there EARLY to ensure you have the best selection of seating at your ‘reserved’ table. If you’re the last ones to arrive at your table of 6… you might be in the back, or unable to sit with each other. I’d suggest 40 minutes before your show starts.
