This place is the perfect little spot when you’re looking for a fix for your Michigan nostalgia — I’m originally from MI but have been living out of state for over ten years now, and it had lots of cute little items (albeit many a bit too expensive for my non-​Birmingham self) that satiated my need for all things Mitten.

Sooo I visited the Suhm thing in traverse city but there is not a Unilocal page for them yet (sad panda, or at least I couldn’t find it). But the two young women working there are wonderful. They were very personable and just so friendly. The store was filled with adorable gifts to buy for mostly myself, but for friends if I feel like I can part with how cute the items are. I hope to visit this store again in the near future, it’s just unfortunate that I’m not from this area. Bring one of these down to North Carolina please! It’s like esty if you could physically shop esty.

Do you need Michigan-​shaped ice cubes? How about Michigan-​shaped cookies? You could make sugar cookies with dried cherries and cut tem out with your Michigan-​shaped cookie cutters! Suhm-​Thing has these and alot more! it’s a cute little store with great Michigan gifts! Staff is friendly and enthusiastic, but store is very tiny, so watch your swing or you might knock sumn-​thing over!

I’m in love with this store! I didn’t go in for the longest time because I automatically assumed it was filled with pricey stuff, but I was wrong. they are VERY reasonably priced :)
I think Nina’s review gave good coverage of what this store had to offer. «Green» tote bags in cute colors and patterns, some jewelry, picture frames, scarves, perfume, candles, etc. Nothing in the store is over $ 60. I was amazed. And the shop itself is so cute and well decorated.
The staff is super friendly to boot. Great place to find a gift.

Like Detroit Rocks!, this store is a refreshing change of pace from the typical Birmingham shopping scene. Even though this place is tiny, it jam-​packs quite a bit of interesting merchandise (mainly goods for the home), from fashionable, «green» bags and totes to laptop holdesr to magnets and picture frames. Most of the merchandise is geared towards women, but it’s a fun place to check out. And, another plus is most of the items in the store are under or around $ 30, which means that it won’t put a big dent in your pockets.
