Well, I got a chance to visit Surin 280 recently, on a Wednesday, around 530pm. The occasion was my sister in law’s birthday. There were five in our group, and we were seated promptly. We ordered various appetizers, a rock and roll for me, while others ordered nigiri sushi, coconut soup and rice noodle rolls. All were proclaimed very good by all that tried some. On the entrée front, I lost track of who ordered what, but all portions were generous, and everyone enjoyed theirs thoroughly, and ate their fill. Even our Picky Eater, who has a shellfish allergy, found happiness in his catfish. I got a taste of that, and found it very good. All said and done, our waiter was attentive, our food was great, and our seating was off in a quieter corner where we could talk easily to each other. My only negative comment is about some of the female patrons, who were dressed in gym clothes. Nice views, but, inappropriate attire for a nice casual place like this.

This is the more expensive sushi place in the area but you can taste the difference so it is worth it on occasion. I also like the cocktail menu and the Thai menu though I usually stick to sushi. I also like to order to go. I recommend if you order that you give it 20 – 30 minutes before you pick up. This is not a quick place for to go but as long as you know that, you can plan accordingly.

The pad Thai was almost tasteless and the noodle beef was not spicy at all. At least they were both savory and not sweet.

Excellent service and even better food! Coconut shrimp soup makes a delicious appetizer, and sushi is outstanding. Their martini selection is also notable!

Greeted by a young lady very polite. Great atmosphere. The food here was great. I ordered the spicy beef salad, I don’t think you could go wrong! Our server was great, will definitely be coming back!

Not a huge sushi menu, but the rolls they do have are pretty decent. Im not a fan of cream cheese on sushi… with that being said, the other dishes particularly the indian dishesare really good. I cant remember the name of the dish we ordered, but we asked for the server’s recommendation and were not disappointed. Ordering carry out today and I have to say, this martini is great!

My Pad Prik was about as spicy as mild salsa. Supposed to be spicier than other items on the menu. I would give it two salt shakers instead of three peppers. Sad. Place was nice and clean and service was good. I will come back and be very specific about how much heat I want next time.

Super disappointing. I had skipped lunch so I went for an early dinner and went a little nuts on the ordering department. I ordered the crab rangoon, edamame, and sushi combo(crunchy shrimp and spicy tuna roll, I think?). The crab rangoon was 98% cream cheese. The wonton was overfried and had a funky taste. I was only able to eat one of the four. This is the point when I realized I was going to need some edamame to lighten up the meal. This was over-steamed and under-salted. The sushi was okay tasting, but the quality of the ingredients seemed very low. Altogether, my meal without tip was around $ 35.00. For the money, I could have gotten much better food, in a much better environment, with much better service. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this joint to anyone else. **Also of note, when I went to the bathroom, a female server was in there straight up doing her hair. It seemed a little inappropriate and very unsanitary.

Surprisingly good! Never really had Thai before and really enjoyed it! We got the crab angels, sushi and the pad Thai noodles and all were delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

I come here every time I visit home. My family knows that there is no deviating from the plan because my visit would be incomplete. But they never try to argue because… well why would they? Good drinks. Good appetizers. Good sushi. My recommendations are the Surin baskets, the super crunch roll, and the rainbow roll. If you go, please ask if there is a way to ship to Maine. Thank you.

Service: I have yet to experience great service, as I’ve only been once w/a large(8) group, and it was okay. I plan on going again soon as I was not disappointed w/the food. All of our orders were correct and split checks were honored, but the waitress seemed a tad bit bothered. Not super obvious, but sort of just going through the motions?! Décor: Okay, lets expose the elephant in the room… I hear it used to be an O’Charleys. Otherwise, its okay. We were seated in the«sun room» area, which is okay. It provides good lighting and a view of the parking lot;) You see everyone in the parking lot arriving in the vehicles(headlights glaring in the restaurant). Not all seating options are like this, so not a huge deal. There’s a really cool statue upon entering w/a subtle waterfall clung to the wall behind. Well done! Its beautiful and thoughtfully-placed! Food: Oh yeah! Super Crunch! Get it for an app in large group or part of a share for couples. If you love sushi, this is the MVP of Surin 280! I’m going back for this alone! Crunchy, fresh, and displayed beautifully. Their Duck dish was delish! Nice texture(crunchy on outside, tender inside), temperature(hot upon delivery), dipping sauce(unique taste w/a little kick), amount(more than enough), and presentation(pretty cool). I’m not real big on the price, but I get it, its duck. Two additional stars of the show: Pad Thai and definitely try their Coconut Curry Soup! Drink: Extensive Martini menu, Bass Ale(nice), Green Tea(served in kettle, well done!), and wine selection. No complaints there. I’d like to try the other locations everyone raves about(décor, city-feel), but 280 is okay as well.

it’s november and I’m in a «giving» mood. overall, this place deserves 2 stars. but the food is always consistent and so I’m raising the star. we’ve been going to Surin since since we moved here almost 20 years ago — prior to that, i frequented(and i mean frequented — like 2x a week) Surin in Atlanta since 1990! when we moved«out 280», i was happy to learn Surin 280 was opening. but this place pales in comparison to the wonderful feel of the 5 points Surin and the Surin of Thailand in Virginia Heights. the bar is always empty here(and i get it — we are in the ‘burbs — people don’t hang at the bar out here), and more times than not, i feel like we’re bothering the staff. it seems like its a «task» for them to have to wait on us. and we tip handsomely. so the atmosphere at Surin 280 is, well, bleh, my friends. just bleh. and who wants to dine in … bleh? the food is, however, on point. and very consistent. i can always count on my pad se u pork being tasty and HOT. we like to start with the spicy beef salad(i get all the cucumbers!) and basil rolls then it’s pad se u pork for me and thai noodle chicken for mr ss9. we have had their sushi, and while it’s not the best in town, it will do. we like the food. the atmosphere is «bleh» ^^. so we’re glad we have the option of a delivery service … and they’re on the menu!

Went to dinner on a Friday night at 8pm. I sat at the sushi bar. The guys behind the counter were great. They kept checking on me and also suggested things to try. One plate was unagi and the other was sashimi and unagi. They were amazing and tasted just as good as they looked. I will definitely be back to get me some more soon.

Pleased to report a better experience at this Surin location! Our server was so sweet and attentive, I wish I had caught her name. We ordered the spicy eggplant and chicken noodle bowl as our little one snoozed. Can’t forget the crab angels too! I love that the give a cup of coconut soup with the meal during lunch. It is also a favorite! Food came out in timely fashion and we all enjoyed — even the 11 month old! I wasn’t sure how he’d handle the spices, but he really liked the noodles from the chicken noodle bowl. After a not so great experience at Surin West recently, I’m relieved to have another great visit at 280! Flavors were perfect and staff/environment were clean, welcoming, and fun! Thanks Surin ;)

Pretty solid place with variety for the family. We started the meal with Surin Baskets and Crab puffs. Both of which are great. I had the sashimi platter and is was solid. The only fish I don’t like is mackerel and it was on there. A waste of three pieces of sashimi :(. Otherwise good. Daughter had sweet and sour chicken-good. The youngest had fried rice and it was good as well. I don’t think I have ever been disappointed in a Surin meal. I don’t think you can go wrong here.

Surin 280 is certainly the best Surin in town because at least here the service is of good quality. Food-wise, they offer the same point-less food that you find at the other Surin restaurants. I mean, food is good, but forget about calling it Thai. You wouldn’t call a restaurant Mexican just because they serve tacos, right? The same should apply here, they have no clue of what’s a Thai restaurant! Overall a nice place, nice ambience, nice service, but with the usual banal food that comes with Surin. It’s OK

What kind of duck is best? Surin Duck of course! In the world of Thai restaurants, Surin 280 is right up there for me. The duck is delicious especially. However, Surin of Thailand downtown is still the winner. My biggest complaint recently has been that the duck is a bit on the tough side and not cooked to be as tender as it used to be before. I’d highly recommend doing lunch here instead of dinner, you get a bit more for less, especially since coconut soup is only included with the lunch portion.

I’m a fan of all the different Surin locations around town and this one is no different. With a large waterfall in the center, the room is large and inviting. My staples here are the crispy squid app, the spicy beef salad, Thai BBQ chicken, and any combination of sushi. I’ve never gone wrong with any of those, but every now and then I branch out. Tonight, it was the Sushi/Sashimi Combination. This ended up being a great choice. It was 13 pieces of sushi with about 12 slices of sashimi. All of it was delicious. I felt like the $ 28 price tag was a bit much, but it was fantastic. The service was great and everything was delivered in a timely manner.
