UAB Highlands

Free parking for this UAB owned hospital. My room was a little smaller than the one at UAB main. The meals are ordered the same way as UAB from a menu with room service. The staff and doctors are easy to get ahold of and the nurses check on you hourly and bring ice water.

Worst hospital I’ve ever been at! They were very unorganized and I hated every second of being there! My nurse after surgery Candace had no clue what to do and wouldn’t give me any pain medication even though I was having a panic attack after waking up with all the pain I was in. Every time she came back she had a different story as to why she couldn’t give me any. I’m very glad that my surgeon had a nurse from his care come to the hospital with me because the ones at the hospital had no single clue! They took too long to do anything! When I woke up in a panic state right after surgery I remember having a nurse look right at me and tell me that if I didn’t shut up they wouldn’t help me! I told them before surgery that it was a high possibility that I would wake up like that because it’s happened with other major surgeries I’ve had. I want to know exactly the names of who was there right when I came out of surgery! My two surgeons would have never chose this place if it wasn’t for the fact that all others were booked when we needed to do my surgery! I hope anyone who needs any major surgery done DOES NOT chose this awful place! The nurse Candace was so lazy she wouldn’t even come in to help me up to use the restroom!

I had a physical therapy apt. there. They were prompt actually started a little early. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The physical therapist was professional yet engaging and seemed truly interested and thorough. I would not hesitate to return. Efficient and thorough, what more could you ask.

Here’s a follow up to an appointment I had with David Bryan, Exercise Physiologist last week. Not only did he spend longer than my appointment was slotted for but gave me excellent advise on how to achieve my goals. These folks rock at UAB.
