Best barber shop in Birmingham. Haircuts and beard trims. Old style chairs. Friendly faces. And very reasonable prices. Cash or check only. Don’t forget to leave them a nice tip. Walk in’s welcome. And appointments taken. Quick turn around. Family friendly. I drive across town for this place.

So I have always been a striped pole barber shop kind of person. When I moved to Birmingham, I still waited for a trip to my hometown to get my hair cut. But the day finally came that my trips down there were often too far and in between so I needed to find a local place. I went to Vestavia Barber Shop and haven’t looked back. My old barber had two chairs and just him cutting hair for for the past forty years. VBS is slightly different. They have six chairs and a variety of ages and genders cutting hair. You can definitely tell the oldest barber there, Randy, is a favorite among the old school people. I consider myself old school with the barber shop, but I can be young and progressive when it comes to my barber. Even though the same old man had cut my hair for 20 years. There are a wide variety of ages that come through. If you have the time during the day, I highly suggest going before the school crowd lets out. But with six chairs going, they can get a crowd through pretty fast. A lot of people come in and have their preference of barber. So if you are willing to be a first come first serve type of person, you can skip a good amount of the picky people. I have had good and great haircuts here. Never a bad one. But certainly some better than others. There have been a few occasions that not enough was cut. But they are happy for you to say what you want changed and alter even after you are«done». Everyone is friendly and happy to have you as a customer. They did renovate recently, but it is still not fancy thank goodness. They just added some exposed wood trimming and an extra TV.

It’s a great neighborhood joint, nothing fancy, just an old school barbershop. Most of the folks who work here have been here as long as I can remember. Here is what you get: — CLASSIC haircuts are their specialty. I wouldn’t go here if you like to wear product in your hair or want anything modern or trendy. — KIND folks working here, always talking about football and what’s going on in their lives. Very homey feeling. — MOST of the staff are excellent, I’ve only been here one time and didn’t get a good haircut. Is highly recommend Phillip and Sharon.

I moved to the Hoover area a couple of months ago after spending my life in Michigan. One of the things that I sorely needed was someone to cut my hair. I’ve had the same stylist for over 20 years, so finding the right person was important to me. I found the Vestavia Barber Shop after a google search and decided to give them a try. My first visit was about a month ago, and Sharon cut my hair. She was very nice and easy to explain things to. She’s been in the business for a long time, and I imagine has cut every type of hair imaginable. I told her what I wanted, where potential problem areas where, and that was all I needed to do. She nailed it the very first time. The barber shop is small, but has a very friendly atmosphere. The staff has worked together for a very long time, and everyone is extremely friendly. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. For guys needing a barber, I highly recommend Sharon and the Vestavia Barber Shop. You won’t be disappointed! Update as of 10÷25÷12: I’ve been a regular now for almost 2 years, and I still love the Vestavia Barber Shop. As I mentioned in my original review, Sharon was my original barber, but she is no longer in the business. Since she left, Pam has been cutting my hair, and she does a great job. In need of a great haircut at a reasonable price? Head to the Vestavia Barber Shop.
