Though I have not been to the actual store I have had their donuts at various places around town(Seeds, donut wall at TEDx) and they are fantastic. A donut you eat slowly. With coffee. Uninterrupted. Preferably alone. And then having seconds. So good.

Go here any time they are open! Go now before they are on tv, show cased in a mag or house up in a true brick and mortar store… the fresh ingredients well made non greasy donuts are what donuts should be. If your a full blown Dunkins fan you prob won’t be converted but if you want what someone once called the Whole Foods of donuts this is your place. They also deliver if you plan ahead.

Really not that great. I got a whole box of the brown sugar and buttermilk ones and no one I’ve let try them has liked them enough to finish theirs. It could have just been a bad batch but the dough was very cake like inside(yes they are cake donuts but I don’t mean it in that sense). It’s as if they weren’t done cooking. The cake was very plain and had no real flavor leaving all of the work up to the icing. The icing for both donuts was very very sugary. Like so sugary that all you can taste is sugar. Like the kind of sugary that makes your head hurt. The flavoring in the icings didn’t really work with the sugaryness, they kind of just clashed and ended bringing the donut down even more. Despite the cruelty in my review, I do it out of love and in hopes of the donuts getting better so I can revise my review. I will be back because 1) I love donuts 2) I love Birmingham and 3) they were out of the pumpkin when I went. I encourage everyone to try this place, just maybe not the cake donuts or not after they’ve been sitting for a while!

As soon as I saw the photos on their website, my mind was made up as to where my breakfast was coming from my first day in Birmingham. We chose the brown butter and buttermilk old-fashioned donuts and the pumpkin maple raised donut. All were delish! The buttermilk was a well executed classic and the brown butter was rich but satisfying. The star of the show was the pumpkin maple — the filling was flavorful without being overpowering, and the cream cheese drizzle was subtle and perfectly complimentary. Wish I could be around for when they have their berry flavors — they look soooo good. If you’re in Birmingham, add this place to your list right now!
