Can’t believe you discontinued your Indian Jerkey, that’s just crazy. It’s always been my absolute favorite. Now I guess I’m gonna have to try to make it myself, which I know couldn’t possibly turn out as good as your beef jerky! Please bring it back!

Probably the best sandwich I’ve had. Very good meats, nice bread and just the right proportions.

It’s the kind of place that you always want to stop but you drive-by on the way to Mammoth Mountain after the jerky store is closed. If you have the chance to go in here don’t miss it. The jerky is second to none.

Pretty good beef jerky and had a breakfast burrito that didn’t make me blow up the restroom, hahah. Also, they need a better profile picture on Unilocal

Stopped here on our way back home on 395. Picked up 3 different varieties(chipotle bourbon, western, and sweet and spicy). They are all very good! They had run out of a few flavors so I was bummed I wasn’t able to purchase some habanero jerky. Hopefully next time. Yes the jerky is a bit expensive but it is high quality jerky. It costs $ 2.44 an ounce. I got 3 oz of each flavor which runs just a little under $ 8 bucks per bag. Total of almost $ 24 for 9 oz. I would have loved to try their deli sandwiches… they looked awesome from what I saw others eating. Look forward to trying those next time!

Great jerky, great sandwiches, great service, great variety, fair prices… If you love dried and/or smoked meats, this place is a pilgrimage destination; some other reviewers have said that the jerky is over-priced, but it’s really not that much more expensive than commercially made faux-jerky like Jack Links(do the math)… And it’s so, SOOO much better! Totally worth it… Plus, they give free samples. I bought the ‘Habanero Buffalo’ and ‘Sweet and Spicy Turkey’ jerkies… So tender and flavorful… dangerously addictive!(What’s nice is that they sell the fresh jerky by the ounce, so you can try a few different kinds without spending a fortune… 3oz/about $ 9 worth lasted me all the way to Carson City) Also, the staff is very knowledgeable about their product, so if you are not sure what kind of jerky is the one for you or if you have allergies/special dietary needs, they will help you find the perfect variety. The sandwich deli is very basic and straightforward; no unnecessary frills or gimmicks. You can eat there or take it to-go(we got it to-go)… My friend and I ordered«The Stroke»(giant pastrami sandwich $ 9.50) to share and the cashier even threw in an extra side of potato salad at no extra charge. The pastrami was so tasty and lean; worth every penny!(A little messy, but there were plenty of napkins in the bag.) If you want alfalfa sprouts and giant bread, go to Schats; if you want MEAT, go to Mahogany. The only slight drawback to this place is that their restrooms are«campground style»… waaaay out in the parking lot, which could be a hassle for those with limited mobility… my girly-girl cousin didn’t want to use them, so we went to the casino down the street… It’s no big deal if you’re the outdoorsy type, but those of you with delicate constitutions will want to take your potty break elsewhere.

Bring back the Indian Jerky! I used to buy all the time from these guys, but they don’t respond to customer emails at all. Customer service used to be good but something happened in the last year. I sent 3 inquires no response at all. Indian Jerky is the best flavor and also the only company that sells anything like it. Indian Jerky is 5 stars but 1 for poor customer service.

I went to Mammoth with my family over Christmas, and on our drive over, we made the obligatory stop at Mahogany Smoked Meats. My love for the place hasn’t changed, but since it’s been seven years since my original review, I figured it was time for an update. We had a good haul this trip. We bought teriyaki and sweet and spicy beef jerky, along with Louisiana hot links, jalapeño sausage, pastrami, and bacon. All very expensive and worth every penny(of my parents’ money – but mine too, probably). The jerky was as good as ever, and the other provisions served us well when we huddled in our cabins in Mammoth. The sausages cooked up beautifully, and the pastrami was delicious – fatty, tender, and well seasoned. The thick-cut bacon made our breakfasts amazing, both in strips and chopped up for fried rice. Only complaint – for whatever reason, this was the first time I went to Mahogany with a full bladder, and it turns out the bathroom is impossible to find without direction. It’s all the way across a parking lot ten times the size of Mahogany. That was a cold walk on a freezing Christmas Eve, and when I got there, one of the bathrooms didn’t have toilet paper.(Thankfully, the other one did, or I would’ve been pretty mad about the long drive through snowstorm between Bishop and Mammoth.) Not the nicest facilities. But you don’t come to Mahogany to use the bathroom! You come to buy meat! And the meat is delicious, and the actual store is quite nice, very welcoming with a friendly staff. Apparently now they offer deli sandwiches – maybe this isn’t new at all, but I’d never noticed before and want to try all of them. If I lived in Bishop, I’m guessing I’d eat here about three times a week.

I would give 4 stars for their jerky. It is very good. While quality of meat in good beef jerky adds to the cost, it certainly doesn’t explain nor merit the $ 40 per pound price(they show signs 2.44/ounce to make it sound cheaper) The service from the girls was friendly when I walked in, but this pushy in a rush jerk took my order and was throwing my bags of jerky on the scale so fast that he was printing the price label while he was still touching the scale. Makes you wonder if you’re being scammed! Buyer beware!

If you are a jerky connoisseur, you have to stop by here. Tons of different jerky to take home but I am warning you it’s going to cost an arm, leg and kidney. But that is what you have to pay for premium jerky. They also had popcorn, different kind of pistachios, sauces, sausages, meats, chili mixes, bacon, sweaters, tshirts, drinks and a little place you can order sandwiches from. There were plenty of tables around the store. Parking is next to the building.

A must stop if you’re passing through Bishop. Their breakfast burritos are loaded with all kinds of toppings and come with a nice salsa. Their sandwiches really showcase their smoked meats and come with some of the best potato salad I have ever tasted. It’s not heavy on the mayo, and has bits of smoked bacon in it. Definitely get some jerky for the road. I’m a big fan of the Teriyaki Beef Brisket.

In September, I went to Mammoth and my cousin and I stopped here to buy some Jerky. I always used to past this place on the way to Mammoth Lakes but never went inside. I tried a couple of their meats. Some were spicy, some were salty, and some… well it was okay. Besides the jerky there you can order lunch there which they make sandwiches. So anyways on our hike to Minaret Falls via JMT/PCT(as well as our hike to Rainbow Falls), we pulled out the jerky and ate some. Any food at the time was good food. We also stopped by on our way home so my cousin can buy some jerky for his friends. Good trip.

I love beef jerky, and Mohagany Smoked Meats is the place get different types of jerky. It will now be a must stop for all Mammoth trips moving forward. This is what we tried: Western Beef Jerky(5 stars) — It’s a classic jerky with a strong, peppery kick that made it the spiciest of the five we picked. Black Peppered Buffalo Jerky(5 stars) — It was similar to the Western Beef, but not as spicy. The thin slices were packed with flavor. Peppered Wild Boar(5 stars) — I liked that it was chewier and thicker than the Western Beef and Blacked Peppered Buffalo. It was peppery with a slight sweet flavor. Teryaki Brisket Beef Jerky(4 stars) — This was the sweetest and tasted good between the bites of a spicier jerky. The texture was softer, chewier and a little thicker. Cowboy Style Beef Jerky(3 stars) — This was like smoked pieces of steak. So it’s not«rip a piece» off jerky. It’s tough to bite because of the thickness. It reminded me of smoked fish with it’s strong savory, smoky and salty flavors. The reviews are not exaggerating when they said it’s expensive. It’s more or less about $ 40 per pound depending on the jerky. With around two to three pieces of each jerky, we ended up spending $ 76 for almost two pounds. My fiancé got carried away, but it was delicious and perfect for snacking during our camping trip. I didn’t feel as bad when other people also ordered a lot of jerky. We narrowed down our favorites and will order smaller quantities next time.

If you are a beef jerky buff, Mahogany Smoked Meats is the place is for you. They have a huge selection of fresh jerky; the most I have ever seen. This jerky is for serious jerky lovers, which can be seen in the prices. This stuff is not cheap. We purchased about ten dollars worth of the teriyaki beef, and we finished it while walking back to our vehicle. It was certainly the best jerky we have ever had. We also purchased a roast beef sandwich, which I considered to be run of the mill, and there was not much meat on the sandwich. It was a little disappointing that their soda machine was broken on this particularly hot day. If you love beef jerky, you must stop at this place on your way to wherever you are headed!

There is nothing vegan about this place, so if you are, don’t even stop here b/c their delicious offerings hold nothing for you. There’s 2 parts: the jerky side and the deli side. The deli side serves, you guessed it — deli sandwiches. Fresh cold cuts, fresh soft bread, fast service. My roast beef sandwich with a pickle and side of potato salad was $ 7.50. The jerky side serves, you guessed it — 15 different kinds of jerky — beef, turkey, and brisket. So many different flavors — sweet & spicy, teriyaki, habanero, chipotle bourbon, peppered just to name a few. $ 2.44/oz so for a quarter pound, it’s about $ 10. Seems expensive(?) but it’s good stuff. I’m not a big fan of jerky but a friend told me about this spot and said it would change my mind about jerky. And she was right. The jerky here is not tough or dry, but soft and tender and still lets you gnaw and chew on it for a few minutes. The flavors are really incredible. I was impressed. Will definitely stop on my drive back!

When journeying toward Mammoth, I have a few stopovers, a few«musts»… One of them, without exception, is Mahogany’s. If not for a couple pounds of fresh(great-for-the-long-drive) beef, turkey, bison, or brisket jerky – whether sweetened, spiced, teriyakied, or peppered – Mahogany’s definitely shoulders some the best sandwiches along U.S. Route 395’s long and winding 557-mile stretch. In fact, I schedule my to-and-from Orange County/Mammoth departures based entirely upon the lunchtime hours. Classics, such as the Roast Beef with Provolone on Sourdough and the Smoked Turkey on Wheat, are superb choices, and I applaud you; however, the double-deckered«Rodeo» or «Turkey Club” – Roast Beef & Smoked Bacon, Pepperjacked, on Sourdough; or Roasted Turkey Breast & Smoked Bacon, avocadoed, on Toasted Wheat – both deserve standing ovations! (All sandwiches paired with pickle spears and potato salad.) Bishop has a winner!

I gave this joint 5 Stars because 6 wasn’t an option. I’ve been stopping at MSM for several years now and it still has the finest BLT I’ve ever had. Enough bacon to cause cardiac arrest, fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes. Incredible. I’m also a sucker for the breakfast burrito, again with bacon. When your heading out for a day of throwing flies at trout, it sticks with you. I always bring home a pork shoulder for beans and such. It fills the house with a tantalizing smell when it’s simmering. Stop in– you won’t be disappointed.

Very good jerky. Very. From a variety of animals with a variety of spices! Most importantly though, its very fresh. This stuff is super soft, which makes it SOAMAZING. It’s a little pricey, but worth it for those snacks on the road!
