The food was fantastic and the staff was nice. I recommend this place to anyone! Also a family friendly atmosphere

Food was okay not that impressed. It actually seemed a little pricey for what you got. I think I’ll actually stick with a more fast food China place.

I ordered a pu pu platter to go and got 2 buffalo wings, 2 full size southern BBQ style ribs, and this slimy peppered chicken. I actually laughed when I got home to see what was inside. How I’d any of that chinese? I also got 2 egg rolls which were really just bread and no filling, two shrimp which were popcorn shrimp wrapped in breading and two crab rangoons. None of it even remotely tasted like a Chinese dish. I think they may have gone in to the buffet and grabbed whatever was cooked. I’ll never go back. Gross!

Ug, just ug! I wish i could give it no stars! The chicken is slimy. The beef is slimy, the veggies aren’t cooked, like RAW carrots, the fried rice is full of uncooked onions, my boyfriend said it has NO flavor, its yellow. Why is it yellow? It looks like they took whatever was on the kitchen counter and shoveled it in there. I asked 3 times for no egg, and of course its full of egg so even if it had any flavor its inedible since there’s egg on everything! The«king crab» sushi roll is fake crab, what was i thinking to expect real crab and I’m beyond bugged I paid $ 48 for this inedible excuse for Chinese Food! Don’t bother wasting your money!

I tried this place out for delivery because of the other positive reviews of the delivery service. Both the woman that took my order and the guy that delivered were pleasant and efficient. The delivery was faster than expected. Unfortunately, the food was just kind of blah. I ordered Mongolian beef, General Tso’s chicken, and crab rangoon. My intention was to eat dinner and then save the rest for lunches for the next few days. The portion sizes were more than adequate, however, the meat in both the dishes was rubbery and strange. The mongolian beef plate was mostly undercooked onions, which, were oddly enough better tasting than the beef. The chicken was also strange. The rice that came with was decent… but it was just plain white steamed rice. I wasn’t impressed by my experience, and I probably won’t try this place again. I can’t recommend it.

I don’t really care for this place but most of the people I know love it so I visit sporadically. The price for the buffet is about $ 2-$ 3 too high considering you will get full after one plate of food if you fill it up with items you know you’ll eat. There’s only one rice option on the buffet and it’s yellow and usually too hard. And don’t you dare think about coming in within the hour before closing, they’ll make you sit in a specific area with everyone else remaining there. Close to closing, they also don’t bother refilling items either. So if you want something more but it’s empty and near closing time, you’re out of luck. Don’t even bother attempting to converse with whoever you’re with if the restaurant closes in 10 – 15 minutes, they’ll send some of their workers out to sit right beside you and stare you down until you leave.

Review of Sunday buffet(dinner buffet). First of all I don’t usually have high hopes when it comes to Chinese food buffets so my expectation was set accordingly. I just moved to Bismarck so I’ve been forcing myself to try all the restaurants. Hot food selection is good. A lot of slight variations of pork and chicken. The house chicken is very good. Everything else is as you expect it from Americanized Chinese food places. Mongolian Bbq was very good with good selection of sauces and flavoring. Sushi was dry and bland– not the highlight of my meal. Eggroll was excellent and so was the Chinese donut. Probably a good deal for lunch during the week but at 12.95 its a little steep for the quality. If you are here for the quantity and selection– this is better than the buffet in the Kirkwood mall(that place was inedible).

i ordered delivery to Mandan($ 20 minimum to come across the river). I ordered egg rolls, salt and pepper shrimp, pork with garlic sauce, won-ton soup. they threw in two canned pepsi’s for free and promised delivery within 45 minutes. The delivery service was outstanding. everything packaged so that it didn’t leak, perfectly hot, on time and nothing was forgotten except maybe chopsticks. Portions are big enough that I will have chinese food all week. Egg rolls are more what I call spring rolls but they were fried. just so-so. salt and pepper shrimp, out of this world good. rice, nice and sticky. won-ton, excellent. pork with garlic sauce, mediocre but on par with all others in Bismarck. veggies are cut too big and i take offense to button mushrooms being used in this dish all over North Dakota. Wood-ear is traditional and part of the reason i order this dish. Nonetheless, I was delighted with my delivery experience.

It’s a decent place. Not bad, not great, same old same old. They had a good variety of sushi to choose from, which I really appreciated. What I didn’t like was the fact that in the 40 minutes I was there never once did crab legs hit the buffet, just an empty streamer pan where they once were. That’s not cool. Like I said, the taste/quality of the food I tasted was the same as everywhere else of this type of restaurant: decent/good, nothing special stood out. For the price it was exactly what I expected: no more, no less.

If you like all-you-can-eat Chinese food at impossibly low prices then you probably don’t like good Chinese food, and you’ll love the China Star Buffet. Did I mention they have sushi? And a Mongolian BBQ station? That’s right! For one very low price you can gorge yourself on, not one, not two, but three nation’s cuisines, all under the same roof. I didn’t count all of the available dish options between the three buffets(because that could take days) but you would think with that many it would cost at least $ 30 per person. Highlights: Judging by the appearance of the sushi I would say the fishmonger waits weeks between visits from these people. At the Mongolian BBQ station the meat was all thawed and swimming in it’s own mess. Oh, and listen to this, the guy cooking the food dumped our bowls on the drum THEN turned it on. As food runs low on the buffet line the employees dump«fresh» replacements on top — so, eat from the top, don’t dig. Look we ate here on a dare, and I never lose a dare. But sometimes I pay a price for that and this was one of those times. So, why two stars instead of one? Well, because you should know better!
