I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place so I decided to pay it a visit! German food is not my thing at all, and I guess I should have taken that into consideration before eating here. I ended up ordering a basic breakfast with bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast. It tasted good, but you can’t really go wrong with any of those things. I don’t like caramel or cinnamon rolls either, so this really isn’t the place for me! But all in all the service was great, and I enjoyed my meal. The only reason I am giving it three stars is because the cashier ended up charging me $ 200 instead of $ 20 on accident. She caught it right away, but didn’t really apologize… and getting it reversed was a real pain. I felt like the owner didn’t really care if it got reversed either way, and never apologized either. I might come back for lunch sometime!

This restaurant is a landmark for Bismarck; I visit every time I come home for Christmas, but I remember coming her since I was a little girl. I ordered the special of the day, which was polish sausage and kraut, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It came with the choice of soup or salad at a very reasonable price of 7.99. The sausage was Moist and flavorful. The kraut also had a stronger flavor than other kraut I’ve tried, and held up well against the sausage. The green beans were obviously canned, but what can you expect from a diner. The mashed potatoes were so smooth, loved every bite. The rest of my dining party were also impressed with the tuna sandwich stacked high in a club, ribs, fleishkeuchle(German fries bread with meat on the inside!), and who can forget knoephla soup, served on Mondays and Wednesdays. If I weren’t gluten free, I would’ve dived into a bowl and licked it clean! This is a North Dakota tradition. The service was friendly and speedy. It’s fun just to people watch and see the patrons who come back every day. P. S. Request a caramel roll to take home for breakfast the next morning!

Right next to big boy, it’s a great hidden gem. Their cinnamon rolls are the size of a toddlers head and they have extra frosting! Excellent soups and food in general

This place is awesome, nothing fancy about it, down home cozy small town feeling to it. Small place so you need to get there early otherwise you will be waiting for a few. We walked in and were greeted right away, the women behind the counter told us to sit where we would like. Very friendly and fast waitress. I had a cup of coffee with breakfast and it was pretty good coffee, good and hot. I had the rancher special, two eggs of your choice, hash browns with ham, green pepper, onion covered with cheese and toast of your choice. Food came out fast and hot, perfectly cooked and seasoned. They come around to make sure coffee is full so you never have to ask for a refill. That’s great service in my mind. They have a great menu selection for lunch and dinner, I definitely am looking forward to coming back. As I was eating I kept seeing people come in and order Caramel rolls and talking about how amazing they were, so of course I had to get one to go. You know it’s good food when you can smell it from the parking lot and the parking lot is full. Very clean inside. Will recommend this place to others.

Your typical small town diner with delicious, cheap, fast, and greasy food. Yum! Would definitely come back here

Awesome place, really good service. Very friendly people and the owner is always here and helping the rest of the staff. The food is good and really cheap! Gets very busy on weekends, try to go after 1 pm. Caramel rolls are probably the best in Bismarck.

Classic small-town dinner with fast and friendly service. The coffee was brutal but the Carmel roll is an absolute must! The chicken fried steak, hash browns and chicken fried steak were cooked perfectly and the prices are crazy cheap.

Not overly impressed… we went for breakfast and found the food to be mediocre. Great service, small dining area and decent prices.

Came here on several coworkers recommendation. On the exterior the diner is not much to look at, but take the steps up into the diner you enter a time capsule in the shape of a diner. The layout is not unlike a dinning car on a train. The food here is local Midwest cuisine and diner food. Service is rapid and on point. My coffee cup never sat below half empty. The sour cream and chive fries are absolutely amazing… Was sad that they ran out of the scotcharoo cookies… I’ll just have to come back next time.

Awesome breakfast! Prices are very reasonable and the portions are good, not too big but plenty of food. The caramel rolls are some of the best I have ever head!

Not sure why this place has more than 3 stars. We came here for breakfast. The waitress was not friendly. She was competent but cold. The vegetable omelette was good but made with American cheese rather than real cheese so the milk content caused the cheese to disappear into the omelette. The vegetables were nicely done. The coffee was terrible. Tasted like scared water. Brown with no coffee flavor. My husband ordered salsa with his breakfast and they charged for it. I thought maybe it would be good homemade salsa for the money but it was jar salsa. The place was OK but just OK. Nothing to encourage me to return

This is just your average run of the mill diner, went here for breakfast today and got hotcakes, what looked to be home made sausage patties and eggs. Prices are very cheap and service was prompt and friendly even though it was crowded during an off peak hour. I guess I would have rated this lower had it not been here in Bismarck, the food options are somewhat limited but it is a good deal and you won’t leave hungry.

Went for breakfast based on Unilocal reviews. Everything was as promised. Great diner atmosphere, fast service, good food, low prices. What’s not to love. A simple pleasure not to be missed.

This is why I love diners! We walked in around 8:30am, figuring we’d miss the breakfast rush. It was pretty full, but we got a booth… and coffee… right away. Our waitress was pleasant, but devoted her time to getting orders out of the kitchen and onto tables… not chatty at all, but very efficient. Risking all kinds of danger on a road trip, I ordered a chili and cheese omelet(man, I wish we had sourdough toast back home!). The chili was pretty spicy… good thing. And it did NOT stay with me all day… also a good thing. Everything was tasty and fast… and very inexpensive. Maybe that’s why the crowd just kept getting bigger as the morning went on. I think we were the only out-of-towners in the restaurant. This is a great place to try, but it’s certainly not a secret.
