Excellent spa I was there one week ago, and absolutely loved it! I review spas on my you tube channel click on this link or copy and paste it to you tube search if you like to see my experience!

Loved this spa! I had a massage, which was great. Best part of the experience though was being able to hang out there as much as you want that day! It is gorgeous! They had pineapple-​mint water, apples, tea, sauna, steam room, hot tub, relaxation room, showers, and more.
One negative was that in the afternoon it was a mess. I had my massage in the morning and it was in tip top shape! I went back in the afternoon/​evening to use the sauna again and there were dirty cups everywhere, shoes all over, the laundry hampers were overflowing, water was gone, tea was gone, and dirty towels were covering most of the seats so there was no place to sit.
So…take advantage of the morning there when it is clean and beautiful!

My first experience here. It’s pretty great! Another guest mentioned that they’ve raised their prices this year and reduced the snacks offered in the waiting room. If so, they were definitely close to 5 star before. Completely comparable to other luxury spas I’ve visited.

Amazing. I am vacationing in Denver and after 2 long days of hiking up mountains and strenuous activity, I decided I’d use my last day here to have a more relaxing experience. This spa is so luxurious, one of the nicest ones I’ve ever been to. There is a separate section for men and woman which is clothing optional. You can relax in the women’s spa before and after your massages. There is a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi pool. There are cool soaked cucumber towels which are amazing after 20 minutes in the steam room. I came with my boyfriend for a couples massage and we were both really happy with our massages. In fact, he didn’t want to leave! If you are looking for a day of relaxation, this is the place you want to be.

I love this place. Just came back for a much needed massage and booked with Sheila. She is one of the best! I almost can’t book a massage anywhere else because she is the best and I am afraid I will be disappointed. I love the steam, sauna, hot tub lounge chairs and rain shower with body jets. I spent over 3 hours enjoying every minute. I just can’t wait to come back.

There is very little to do in Black Hawk other than gamble, so I head to spa any chance I get. I’ll preface my remarks by saying that I’ve been to many, many spas. The Ara Spa ranks right up there with the top ones I’ve been to. Front desk was very helpful in our booking, our massages were delightful and I had some waxing done. All was professional, upscale, and price competitive. Surroundings are clean, lovely and relaxing. I highly recommend the Ameristar Hotel/​Casino and their Ara Spa!

4 months ago I would have rated 4 – 5. Since that time, my friends and I have been twice and left extremely disappointed. This is an overly priced spa, but it’s the only one in the area so they can charge what they want. With that said, I can justify the price IF it lived up to the experience. Both trips involved three moms and one military wife wanting to get away.
The first trip, we were in the women’s hottub and were asked to be quiet because one patron complained that we were too loud. We were sitting close in the hottub and talking (not partying). That request would have been ok, but the staff then walked back and forth watching us, followed 2 to the restroom and stared at us. The cheese plate we ordered took 2 hours, it is cold cheese– seriously?!! We left uncomfortable and didn’t intend on returning. When checking out the next day, we let the spa manager know our concerns and we received free spa passes to return. SOO…
We planned another trip in a few months. We were very careful to be quiet in the hottub area, there were three recliners and two chairs. The four of us took one chair/​recliner each. The snacks mentioned ran out (trail mix and a cracker mix) before we got there at 10am and they did not refill. We attempted the cheese tray again, but chose not to wait an hour for it. They provided 2 cold cloths for four of us and we’re told they weren’t sure if they could locate any more. It was a washcloth in cold water with essential oil. The final straw was when we were asked if we could share chairs since other guests were complaining that there weren’t enough chairs. Guess what Ara spa– if your guests cant have one chair apiece, then get more chairs or allow less guests. At $ 65 for a pedicure (without the tip/​tax) and over $ 100 for 50 minute massage, and $ 50 to sit in the hottub! I expect more. My am really sad for the other moms and military wives that have to save for months (literally) to do something like this. It’s so very sad and we will not be back even with the free room at Ameristar.

I have been to several day spas and this by far is the best that Colorado has to offer. I received a massage with aromatherapy from Monique and she was wonderful. With every 50+ minute service, you have access to facility which includes locker access, shower, steam, sauna, whirlpool and lounge with fireplace. They provide robe, slippers and toiletries upon request. Ara serves infused water, tea and small snacks. You can order small bites, sandwiches or wine. There are quiet zones which is expected in a grand place like this. I wish I had photos to share but who wants to bring an electronic when they want to relax?! Reception is so welcoming and I appreciate the fact they are not pushy with services and products. I’m planning a girls nightaway just to access spa ($ 30 low peak mon-​wed and $ 50 high peak thurs-​sun). FYI — facilities are separate men and women each have their own wing due to the clothing optional area. I can’t wait to visit again! Enjoy

My ideal relaxation scenario: a deep tissue massage coupled with hydrotherapy, and just chilling stress-​free for a few hours — Ara Spa easily fulfills this request. The first visit wasn’t as nice as the sauna and steam room were set at a temperature way too low. The second visit, they must have fixed the issue as the dry sauna was HOT and the steam room cycled like it supposed to. The whirlpool was never an issue, always the perfect setting. A bowl of cool eucalyptus soaked towels, located next to the resting area provided an excellent face aromatherapy in-​between cycles. The use of these facilities are included with any spa treatment or a day pass can be obtained for $ 30 on Sun-​Wed, and $ 50 on Thurs-​Sat. This is their suggested routine:
shower rinse away the day’s stress 3 min
steam purify your mind and body 5 – 10 min
shock plunge in the cold shower 1 min
sweat feel the heat in the dry sauna 5 – 10 min
shiver refresh with a cold shower 1 min
submerge relax in the whirlpool 10 – 15 min
shower conclude with a warm shower
I opted for the Rocky Mountain Ritual (after spending a couple of hours in hydrotherapy, of course), a 50 minute treatment that included an exfoliating salt scrub with a hydrating body butter mini massage application. An in-​room shower allowed for the salt can be washed off after the scrub prior to the massage. The massage portion, though short, was one of the best deep massages I have ever had. I recommended to the front desk that this be offered as a 90 minute treatment, extending the massage portion for best results.
There are snacks, fruits and tea for your enjoyment in the waiting room/​lounge in front of a fireplace. I don’t know if any spa in Black Hawk even comes close to this one. Check it out!

Superb! A Ritz Carlton spa in this odd B level hotel/​casino. If you stay at the Ameristar, this is the diamond. We took a 3 hour hike to the snow line in Nederland area. Body needed this spa in a big way. Massage was great. Setting elegant. Or, if you are In the area, a must do.

I’ve been to this spa several times for various treatments, and I’ve always had wonderful service. This time I saw Pam for a manicure and she was great; she was very personable, sweet, and thorough! It’s so nice to have an aesthetician who actually checks in with you to make sure you’re happy with the service WHILE you’re receiving it! I would highly recommend her, as well as the spa in general. It’s gorgeous inside and I’ve always been treated very well by all of the staff.

Talk about heaven on earth! I’ve been to Ameristar on several different occasions but have never visited the spa until a few weeks ago. I’m on my third visit in less than a month! The quality of their spa was worth their high prices! Staff were highly attentive and made certain I was comfortable and familiar with the facility. I made sure to utilized the entire spa including the shower, sauna, and hot tub. They also provided some great snacks and fruit infused water. I’m a little disappointed that they have segregated each gender but it’s completely understandable. Both clean and relaxing, this is definitely a spa worth trying if you have a chance!

This is truly a mountain gem. They have beautiful amenities and amazing massages. Their hot tub, sauna and steam room are exquisite. The staff makes you feel so welcome and cared for the entire time. If you are in Blackhawk you must come here.

My two girlfriends and I decided to head «up the hill» this weekend for a quick getaway and the plan was to indulge in crab legs and be pampered at the spa and our weekend was a success!
The three of us love getting massages and this is by far the BEST MASSAGE we’ve ever had in Denver.
My masseuse was Sheila and my friends got Monique and Erin. The ladies were very attentive to our needs, the pressure was amazing and they went out of their way to make it an amazing experience for us.
The facilities are amazing as well. After our massages, we went to the steam room and then the hot tub. It’s very spacious, serene and just heavenly!
We’re already planning our next appointments!

The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we were at ease and relaxed. The facility was very nice and clean. You get spoiled by the extras included with any spa treatment. You can sit in the steam room or sauna or join the jacuzzi. You are able to use this for the whole day of your spa treatment. We will definitely be coming back when we visit again. Also the massage therapist were amazing and professional during our massage.

I really enjoyed this spa. It’s the kind of place that you can hang around all day and just relax. There’s a great locker room/​bathroom area that has plenty of amenities in case you forgot anything. The robes and sandals they provide are very comfortable.
If you have a service done, the «splash» area is included, otherwise I think it’s $ 30/​day. It has a hot tub, sauna, and steam room, plus there are lounge chairs and ice water to drink. These areas aren’t coed, there’s a men’s side and a women’s side. Once you’re ready for your appt, there’s a coed waiting area that has ice water, tea, fruit, and trail mix to snack on. You can relax here both before and after your appointment before going back to get changed (or head back to the sauna).
I had a prenatal massage done, and they had a special pillow on the table for me to lay on that accomodated my stomach. Josh, my massage therapist, was wonderful. I told him I wanted just a light touch since it was my first time getting a massage while pregnant. He listened to what I wanted, and even explained away some fears that I had about pregnancy and massages.
The entire staff was great, and checkout/​payment was very simple. When they ring you up they ask if it’s okay to include a 20% tip, so I didn’t even have to pull out the tip calculator on my phone.
Loved every minute of it, and I will definitely stop in at the spa again the next time I’m up there.

When you head to a resort, especially a gambling resort, you are not surprised when the prices for all the amenities — especially the upscale amenities — are just a tad higher than normal.
So, when we got the prices for the services at the ARA spa at Ameristar Casino Resort in Blackhawk, I was blown away. They were reasonable! Extremely reasonable.
The Spa is on the upper floor of the hotel. Away from the noise and crowds. And the spa facilities are beautiful. What a wonderful place to relax and unwind after a hard days gambling! It is so relaxing that you can just go to ARA. .. . forget the gambling!
