If you love mead and ciders you will love it here! Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of mead as honey is way to sweet for me, although, they did have a delicious plum mead. They’re continually changing what is available as they are very much into small batches so each time you go there will be something different. Interesting place just around the corner of the buildings that also contains Pisgah Brewing Co.

Whoa! Good golly! Dude. I like Cider! Great family run business. With as much time as I spend at Pisgah Brewing, I’m shocked I haven’t been here sooner. It’s just next door! My recommendation is to get a flight. Most of the Ciders have some notes of herbs, fruits or honey. I prefer more simple cider recipes, like the POMONA! If you are a cider fan or have never tried Mead, this is a great starting point!

This was my least favorite of the three cideries I visited on a recent trip to Asheville.(The other two were Urban Orchard and Noble.) It’s still a cool place to stop though! My boyfriend and I split a flight of four ciders — the Pomona, Churchill, Golden Hind, and Zephyrus.(There might have been another one too, but I don’t remember the name.) I liked the Zephyrus a lot, and my boyfriend liked the Churchill. We both though the Golden Hind was really weird. Overall, I thought their cider was pretty good, but not as good as at the other two places. We didn’t try any meads. The tasting room small. When you drive up, you’ll see signs for Pisgah Brewing and wonder if you’re in the right place. Don’t worry; it’s on the other side of the building!

This is the best cider that you will ever taste. It is truly handcrafted from local apples and does not have the cheap, sugary taste that you find in most store bought ciders. If you like a good pale ale, than you should definitely try their Pomona as a lighter, gluten free alternative. Their meads made from honey offer a unique drinking experience with lots of rotating flavor combinations. This is the best tasting alcohol that you will find in all of Western North Carolina.

I came here with low expectations because I can’t stomach the cider in grocery stores. BMCW taught me how real cider is supposed to taste. The only downside to discovering this is the fact that I live 5 hours away and don’t have access to it. I recommend getting a flight, so you can experience the variety of meads they use. You’re definitely going to want to get a growler filled up to take home too. My favorite is the Pomona.

Where to start… OMG. This is cider that blows away what we buy in restaurants and breweries anyplace else. It was crisp and the sample flight ran the gamut of sweet to dry for all pallets. Being a dry pallet person I quickly gravitated to the non lavender or apple juice flavors, but noticed the locals who apparently liked the others. There was something for everyone without question. Small and homey place, almost feel like you are lost pulling in, but well worth the winding around the back of the building; it’s just past the brewery and right next to the tabernacle singing hymns just wishing you into cider-bliss. The owners work the store and share the logic behind their shop complete from knowing where the apples come from to how they make the flavors. Costs are amazing compared to cider in restaurants and the quality/taste is ten-fold better… and all gluten-free. Hands down, the best place I stopped in Black Mountain.

Another cider taproom! Seriously, living in this area and not liking beer is a terrible experience, but the increasing presence of cider is really helping out with that. I stopped by for a flight today after noticing the place after I ran a race at Pisgah(next door). Several of the ciders are about the dry kind you’d expect, not a lot of difference between them. But they have a couple, a scrumpy, and one with orange and ginger, that really stand out. The scrumpy tastes so strongly of apple you could almost forget it’s cider. Making it with the peels like that really does the trick. Really great prices, cozy little room, and friendly staff. Highly recommended :)

If you like hard cider, you’ll love BMT Ciderworks! And if you’ve only bought it from the grocery store, you have GOT to taste what the real thing is like! Local apples are used and all of the cutting, pressing, etc., is done on the premises. Besides their standard — Pomona(our favorite), they rotate special blends throughout the year and we long for Queen Anne’s! Jess and Dave have a wonderful beverage and Ian makes it all happen up front! Current hours and offerings usually appear on Facebook. The tasting room is very comfortable and welcoming. We LOVE this place!
