Between Gaffney and Blacksburg, in Cherokee County, SC: Although I haven’t been since my college years, this is a great place to go tubing. I can still remember having the best time during college tubing down the river with friends, the proverbial cooler tied onto one of the guy’s tubes. It was great way to spend a lazy, hot Saturday in the south. An added bonus was that it was free and it was rather fun waving at the people fishing on the shoreline or driving across the bridge. I think the area has opened up for more activies since my college years. Here are a few websites: An aside note: The river is dammed in NC(before getting to SC) to form Lake Lure.
