What is this place? The menu is a giant tease because it all sounds delicious but it’s not! Who serves cold tacos??? Cold tortillas and cold toppings and lukewarm meat. And the flavor came from the sauce not the actual components in the taco. The guacamole was awful — bland is an understatement. And I’m not a fan of thick flour tortilla chips and especially not cold. And I came at lunch time and it wasn’t crowded. I’d opt to eat at the café/bakery next door …

The best word to describe Wicked Taco is–«eh». It’s just very mediocre food. The atmosphere itself is great– a large and inviting space with plenty of tables. The food is just«ok» and the service is pretty bad. I’ve been there 3 – 4 times and I’ve never gotten my food in a timely manner. The tacos were pretty underwhelming but I did enjoy the chips and queso. I would save yourself the visit and try somewhere else to eat, although I would be interested in going back to see if the food or service has improved.

I was excited there was an actual real life vegetarian option, even two of them too! Thing is, they weren’t so great. One was supposedly hot– I’m not a fan of spicy, so I opted for the Tiju-wanda. I don’t like bell peppers either, so I asked for it without them, but they cook the onions and peppers together so I couldn’t get onions either. I sat down(very nice atmosphere and location– which is what drew me to it), and a few minutes later the food came out. I thought it came with tortilla chips(which are NOT vegetarian? I don’t understand why the staple of a Mexican restaurant can’t be eaten by herbivores and omnivores alike?) but instead came with two tacos. The corn tortilla was very thick and gummy and the filling was really runny. It was mostly raw vegetables and I really wished there would have been some protein in there, like some kind of bean or seasoned tofu. As far as the salsa bar goes, very bland and disappointing as well. After I finished one taco, I felt very sick. I came with two other people and both said they were feeling nauseous after eating as well.

The prices are great and the food is good. I love the salsa bar, so many fun options. Take your family or friends and try all the sauces and hang out in the cool atmosphere! I also like that they serve alcoholic beverages!

Tasty tacos RIGHT here in Blacksburg! The signature tacos are fantastic and the breakfast ones are pretty great, too. Moo Eats Two still seems off to me somehow. I’ve tried it twice now and I feel like it should be warmer. Things seem too cold on it. Maybe the shell or something needs tweaking with this combo. The Wicked Deluxe was SUPERB! While the chorizo may be a smidge too salty, the overall flavor combo was delish! The queso fundido chorizo dip and chips are SO tasty. Chips seem fresh and warm with just the right amount of salt. And the combo of flavors in the fundido dip is damn near perfection. NOMNOMNOM!!! The only negative was the horchata was a bit weak this time. I’ve been there 3 times before my most recent trip. I’ve only had the horchata once before. The time before it was yummy. This time it seemed like it was the diet version of horchata. Not as creamy. Not as sweet. Like it was skim milk and sweetened with a sugar substitute. On the whole I really dig this place. The atmosphere is great. LOVE the painted skate decks on the walls and the HUGE windows to see the town. The people working there always seem nice and helpful. Definitely returning for more and more to try all the different tacos. I need a little app to keep track of what I’ve tried and liked and such.

My first Wicked Taco experience was taking advantage of their delivery. It came quick, was still hot, and the taco was DELICIOUS! The guacamole was a little bland and the queso was REALLY runny(not typical awesome runny… Unable to stick to the chips runny…) but that wouldn’t keep me from ordering again! Maybe the next fresh batch will be a little better. :)

I really liked the Tiju-Wanda, one of several vegetarian options here. It was a lot bigger than I would expect from a taco. The side of borracho beans sounded better than it tasted – it was plain, no hint of «caramelized onion» or «plum tomatoes” – and it was smaller than I would have expected for the price. The guacamole was pretty good. But the salsa bar is where this place really falls flat. I tried a lot of salsas and didn’t like any of them, not even the corn salsa, which I usually love. The pickled onions were the best thing it had to offer.

I’m split between rating a 3 or a 4 so I’ll settle for 3.5. Tonight was my second time trying Wicked Taco– my first time was during opening week and it was just okay the first time around. Tonight I got the same tacos I did the first time which were the Psycho Billy Cadillac and Dog Named Shrimp. I got the 2 taco combo and a side of chips and creamed corn as well. The portion size of the chips was kind of small(probably because I shared them) but I was surprised to see the portion size of the creamed corn so small too, since it cost $ 2 something. Overall, the meal was good but I think that a meal for two should not end up being $ 25 dollars for just tacos, chips, and sodas.

Did not think I would like this place based on the negative reviews I heard, and I’m not a huge taco person. I also started eating here in the summer, so there was never a line — so I can’t speak to how this place is when busy. This place is incredible. Tacos are relatively cheap(~$ 4.50), and filling. 2 tacos is always more than enough to fill me up, and I’m a big athletic guy. Never had a bad experience here, and all of the tacos I’ve had are just fantastic. The habanero and pineapple taco and BBQ pork tacos are my favorites, but sadly I just moved out of Blacksburg before being able to try all of them. Cool decorations inside as well.

Man these are tasty tacos… But man are they pricey!!! Two tacos are enough for me to happily satisfied, but I still think the price is way too high. Talk to the staff If you don’t know what to order, they know the menu very well and even created some of the items. The salsa bar they have is very cool with a lot of good options and I love the décor and style of the restaurant. It’s very open and very cool to eat at. Get the number 2 or 7, those are my favorites.

I have eaten here a few times before I reviewed this place. Each time that I have ordered from there, the food was bland. I wasn’t satisfied. It didn’t satisfy my taco/Mexican craving for the day. During my first visit, the tortilla was broken. I thought i just happened to be unlucky to receive a broken taco shell. However the following times when I purchased a taco, they would break either after the 1st or 2nd bite. I believe the tortillas are homemade but I have had authentic homemade Mexican food before and this was not it. Salsa bar is ok. All the salsas were bland. I like how the restaurant looked and it was great. If only the food tasted better. Overall, I had better tasting Mexican food. There are numerous other choices if one were to have Americanized Mexican food and I’d recommend they go to the other locations.

First time and food was great. Will be back. The salsa bar has good selection especially if you like spicy. On the downside, I’m a decent eater and just one order isn’t enough. So ordering 2 tacos a little on the costly side but worth it for me. I had the spicy carnitas and loved it. And yes, it is spicy. Daughter had #3, steak with queso, she liked the steak but a little too cheesy for her.

I will give this place the benefit of the doubt for now. The food is great; however, they focus on more natural and homemade flavors, so this might not appeal to everyone. They seem to value some local efforts although, some could be all in many ways… Upside, grilled tortillas and homemade chips! Salsa bar and tons of hot sauce! Great sunset views in Blacksburg and cool ambiance. Downside, price can add up once you grab a full meal as everything is priced a la carte and the staff isn’t quite there yet. I have yet to have a cashier who knew the menu or even how to ring everything up. I have hope the kinks will work themselves out and the tacos will never grow old. I’m a fan.

I’m not gonna bitch that hard because I only spent 13 bucks here, but I regret choosing Wicked Taco on this Friday night. Walked in with gf, ordered 2 tacos and queso was given a number to take to my table. I saw people enjoying chips and salsa, so I went to get my own. Had to go to the kitchen line and ask for my own chips. Not sure why they didn’t just give them. I went to get salsa and they were out of ramekins. Had to go ask someone to restock them. Then we waited. And waited. Finally after 28 minutes(checked receipt for order time) our food came out. It wasn’t bad. Honestly, we would have been happy if it came out in a reasonable amount of time(under 10 minutes for what we got.) But it didn’t. Tons of unhappy looking people sitting around waiting as well. Maybe I’ll come back in 6 months. Hopefully they’ll either have improved it or closed by then.

No good and not worth your time. It took us 30 minutes to get our food which was stone cold and generally unpleasant. The salsa bar was uninspiring, bland and all the sauces tasted the same. The only decent thing was the chips, but even the guacamole wasn’t great. Really disappointing.

I love the idea of Wicked Taco, but I didn’t love my first visit. The atmosphere here is awesome. The decorations are cool and the location is great! The service was very nice and quick. The prices are perfect for the huge tacos(almost burritos) that you get. I tried the Freddy Likes It Hot, because I love spicy stuff. However, the habanero sauce was not very good, it tasted like wasabi to me and it weirded me out the entire time in was eating. I thought the pineapple would cut the habanero taste, but the taste jus confused me. I did love the tortilla the taco was served on though, it almost tasted like pita. I definitely want to come back and try something different here. They also have breakfast tacos that I’m excited to try! Also, apparently they are about to get some cool craft beers which will be an awesome addition.

Friday night, 7pm. I walk in and there’s no line, straight to the register. Order a single taco(The Good, Bad, and Wicked), to go. Then, the wait begins. It was exactly 30 minutes from the time I was handed my receipt to the time I received my order. I counted fourteen employees, and in my 30 minutes of wait time I watched one guy do nothing but chat, a second prepared one serving of eggs. A third changed the paper in the receipt printer. That’s all these three did the entire time. I was beginning to realize why it took so long. My one taco cost $ 5, and was on the bland side. I would have spiced it up with one of the salsas from the salsa bar, but most of the bowls were empty. Sadly I saw people who were waiting when I arrived still waiting when I left. I hope this was a case of «new business kinks,» otherwise I see Wicked Taco going the way of Chi-Cho’s.

I went here with a friend. My experience was pretty negative. Maybe they need time to work out some kinks, but so far it stinks. First, the design is terrible. There was no room for customers to stand, so people in line were spilling out the door, putting people in that awkward situation in which they have to stand around holding the door open. Two cash registers were open, but there wasn’t enough space for someone to move comfortably past the occupied register to the open one. Because there are no vegan options, I asked if I could order the veggie taco(Tiju-Wanda) and sub the creamed corn, cheese, and queso for extra veggies. The woman I checked out with was very helpful and put an order in for extra peppers, onions, and potatoes. It would have been nice to have a meat substitute option like tofu or seitan, but extra veggies is doable. I also ordered chips + salsa in addition to the taco(costs extra) and a fountain drink. The food didn’t take too long to arrive, maybe 15 minutes. No chips, but I figured they were on their way. My taco arrived smothered in cheese. Usually if restaurants do that I just pick it off, but this cheese was mixed in and melted with the food, which made it next to impossible to take off. I did my best and was left with bland, poorly cooked veggies on a flimsy, tasteless tortilla. After about another 20 minutes my friend and I asked if we could get our chips, and we were told they would be right out. Another 15 minutes passed and we opted to leave. On top of this, the food was very overpriced — and prices are unavailable on the website, so we didn’t know what we were getting into before we ate there. We didn’t get what we paid for in that we paid extra for chips that never arrived and had awful meals. For what it’s worth, my friend said that his taco was not terrible. I believe he ordered The Boss Hog. This place is extremely overrated.

I thought the food here at Wicked Taco was good but it didn’t seem like a very good value at all. I could not get full here without buy 3 tacos which would be almost $ 15. The salsa bar was a good idea but I didn’t think any of them were particularly flavorful. Plus it’s another $ 3 for a basket of chips. The service was quite slow although I’ll give a break on that as they were very busy and are relatively new. The taco I had was good, not great. Have had better at other places in blacksburg. My wife’s taco had no flavor at all and was definitely not worth the price.

This is local! Not franchise! It’s cheap, but it’s because their tacos are small, and unlike cabo, they only give you one. But they have excellent choices of salsas! Try all of them! I had #2, and it was good! I recommend ordering two!
