This place is aces. The crew here is down to earth and for a Crossfit gym, the trainers and the facility is incredibly inviting. I ended up back in my hometown during a tough time and needed to get my WOD in to blow off some steam and behold, 856 was right down the road.
I’m always skeptical because I hate walking in and hearing coaches all stoked on crossfit jargon like «welcome to my box» and «whoa dude, great PR!» It can be such a bro-​tastic environment. But not here, not at Crossfit 856. Bill welcomed me with open arms and even got me to my own best deadlift in the short time I spent with them.
The facility is just big enough now and there’s plenty of great, well maintained and CLEAN equipment for everyone and it gets even better – they’re doubling their size in the next few months!
And Crossfit 856 is the definition of community; these guys hang out, have brews together, BBQ together and support one another in a way that’s unique to a lucky few Crossfits so Kudos to Bill and his team.
So do yourself a favor – make this your first stop if you find yourself in the greater South Jersey region. Skip the shiny new globo-​gym out front; you won’t regret it.

In 3 – 4 months, three days a week, I’ve lost about 10 lbs. More importantly, I’ve gained muscle mass, and pants that were tucked away in the back of my closet because I thought I’d never fit in them again, are finally back in rotation.
I enjoy this gym so much more than any gym I’ve belonged to (and there have been several) because of the camaraderie amongst members and the steady progress I see in myself week to week. Art & Bill do such an awesome job of coaching and encouraging their members. I can’t imagine ever going back to the ‘normal’ gym routine! Crossfit has had such a positive impact on my body, my confidence, my energy level, and my outlook on exercise. If you go for just one class you’ll be hooked too! It’s hard work, but I have such an amazing feeling of accomplishment after every single class.
