They used to be located in an airplane hanger, but have since moved across the street. A small, very industrial-looking winery. The guy and gal who run the place are super, super friendly and welcoming. As soon as we arrive, the owner pulls out four glasses and starts pouring… no mention of tasting fees, just ‘hey, how’s it going!” Now that’s my kind of winery! The pours were generous too, if that’s your thing ;) The space was dimly lit, they could benefit froma couple overhead lights, but the large garage style doors let in a fair amount of light near the bar… which I guess is all that matters. The bar has some bread sticks, crackers, and a really nice hunk of cheese which I failed to get the name of. The 09 Deluge was decent, but nothing too amazing. The 05 Deluge and the MARS wines were spectacular. The 05 especially was very smooth and velvety. I’m not a wine snob, but that’s about the only way I could describe it. The MARS blend had something to do with white skins, and it actually being a white wine, although it was red in color, and I got lost after a few more pours… However, it was really great wine. It’s fun looking around the place and seeing all of the large printed panoramas of the glaciers from 35,000 years ago. One of the owners works at a print shop part time and the place definitely benefits from that. some really fun things to look at! Like I said, they explained the wine process to us, made fun small chat, and were just very, very friendly. I was very much surprised how great the wine was… some of the better reds I have tried in WA State, and shhh. the grapes next year are coming from Oregon according to the owner ;) I’ll be back and I’ll bring new friends.
