Nick’s Italian Cafe

We came up from Omaha to take our grandma out for Mother’s Day. We had never been before, but Nick’s was the only sit-​down restaurant we could find that was actually open on a Sunday. Bonus points for that.
Nick came by and introduced himself and seems like a genuinely nice guy. Our server Jenny was outstanding. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, super sweet to my children, kept our glasses full — just everything you could ask for. So far, so good. I like this place, it’s cute! Now for the food…
We ordered fried ravioli, and they were delicious. The marinara dipping sauce was on point! We asked if they were made on site, but alas, they are not. So, credit goes to Aramark, maybe?
The pesto sauce on the Chicken Pesto pizza was sooo good, but the crust was just too hard. I know thin pizza isn’t supposed to be soft or chewy. But you should be able to bite into it without hurting your gums…
We also ordered fettuccini alfredo with chicken. Before I knew how to make alfredo, I would buy premade sauce in a jar and I’m sad to say, that’s exactly what this stuff tasted like. It wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t shake that feeling I was eating from a $ 3.00 jar of Bertolli.
All 8 of us (2 kids) made it out of there with a $ 150 bill — and that included 2 bottles of wine!
I’m sure we’ll give this place another shot and I’ll definitely be trying the penne pesto next time. Even if the food wasn’t out of this world, you can’t beat those prices with that level of service.

Probably the best restaurant in Blair. The Lasagna is very good. Service is fast and friendly (hey, it’s in Blair, so that’s kinda standard). The prices are fair. I will eat here again.

Nick’s Place is a fantastic bistro on the main strip in Blair. Our waitress Jenny could open a school for training wait staff she was so good! Excellent food, reasonable prices, 5 stars!

I’ve taken the hour-​long drive from Omaha to eat at Nick’s a few times since the original review, and it’s been just as good, if not better, every time.

Just had lunch here with my daughter. Lasagna was very good, but the pizza was overpriced for what you get. Staff was pretty slow but friendly. Pretty good for Blair.

Passing through Blair and I saw this little Italian restaurant with a 4.5 rating and decided to give it a try. On Hwy 75 through Blair it’s easy to find. I got the bruchetta appetizer. Very fresh but the tomatoes were cold, which distracted from the flavor. The side salad was decent with a few sliced black olives for flavor. Good 1000 island dressing — that’s important to me. The roll is served warm with butter. It has a soft chewy interior. The lasagna was excellent with enough extra sauce to dip the bread in. Nice flavor with plenty of cheese.
I’ll come by again next time I’m in Blair.

How does this place have 4.5 stars? Location, location, location. This is the BEST Italian place in Blair. It’s also the ONLY Italian place in Blair. You read between the lines.

Very good Italian Food.

Nicks was great! The food was amazing! The waiters/​waitresses were awesome! We got to chat with the owner and it sounds like working there is a blast! I had chicken piccata which was great and really good bruschetta. My pasta was great too! I ate it all after my basketball game! I left my phone there and he chased me down before I got to the car! Even though it’s like –5°! It’s overall fantastic and the atmosphere is really calm and pleasant. The tables are spaced out really well and it was not to dim. I am always cold and I was perfectly warm. It wasn’t too hot though. Also I’m a germiphobe and it was extremely clean and neat. Go there! You won’t regret it!

The very best white chicken pizza ever! The flavors are so well balanced. I should have taken a picture to make you hungry! Oh well, next time Will return soon, because the cravings will be over powering.

Drove from Papillion and it’s well worth the drive! Excellent service and the owner actually came out to confirm they understood my ‘special’ requests! Will be back again!!!

Terrific food, very good service in a small town location. Very reasonable prices for top notch Italian. Something unexpected in Blair, Nebraska.

Agree with Audrey! Excellent Food! Great service — very friendly environment. Can’t beat their $ 4.99 — $ 5.99 lunch special — Pasta, Soup or Salad, and an amazing dinner roll! Only been there a bit over a month and my family and I have ate there a ½ dozen times and I’ve been there with my employees another ½ dozen times.

Excellent food! It was rather loud, but that is the only negative I have to say about this place. The food is very ‘fresh’ and reasonable. $ 4.99 for a lunch special?! Yes please!
Looking forward to trying more things on the menu. The spicy marinara and homemade meatballs were great. Others in my group had good things to say about their meals too.
I hope this place makes it in this small community, because I think it would do well in Omaha compared to other Italian I’ve had.
