we had just come down from Brasstown Bald and the gas gauge was on empty. We took a chance and turned right, instead of back towards Helen, and came across Booger Hollow gas station and store. What a great surprise. Filled up on unleaded 91 octance without ethanol, bought drinks and had a breat time. I recommend it heartily. Planning to stop there again in May when we go back up to HElen and Unicoi.

Store itself is an average roadside convenience store. But in the parking lot is a screened bbq pit and inside the store against the back wall is sold the best BBQ I’ve ever had. And I have tasted a lot of ‘que.
Seriously. For about $ 5 you get about a pound, pound and a half of tender, smokey, spicy pulled pork stuffed into a hoagie roll. I could not finish the sandwich. They also sell their own sauce but the meat does not need any. Ribs and brisket are also on the menu but I’m going to have to try those another day.
