Wegmans

Woohoo! As good as it gets! Because it really is.
Aside from the fact that they keep phasing out brand name products throughout the years and shifting aisles to confuse people, there are no alternatives to Wegmans, and my first Unilocal review really proves this.
Let me tell you kids, I’m 20 yet I’ve been going to this Wegmans since I could be pushed inside of the shopping carts (the thing on the cart that you pull and put a baby in).
I used to go to the day care (W Kids) every weekend — everyone knew me, it was a weekly ritual.
I was there when the deli was on the right side of the store and there was no such thing as the «Market Café,» and it was a dark, dingy store to shop in.
I’ve had times when I didn’t want to go there… applying to a job there is like applying to Harvard, it’s who you know.
Disregarding that, after being in a family that has spent probably hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years here and a closet full of Wegmans bags, I will likely miss my favorite grocery store if I leave the northeast.

My favorite Wegmans location by far but generally you can’t go wrong at any Wegmans. This is the one grocery store that I missed while I lived in Savannah, GA (who knew that it was possible to miss a grocery store?)
Wegmans has a fantastic prepared foods section and their beer selection is never lacking anything that I want. They have a great selection of local brews and reasonable prices. The sub shop is always a great go to if you are looking to grab a quick bite but I usually recommend calling in your order because the line does take some time to get through.
They also carry a wide variety of organic foods, international foods, and the meat and seafood areas are always cleaned a stocked up. Fresh deli, fresh seafood, fresh fruits and veggies and tons of local product. This store knows how to make the locals happy and we are proud to have a store if their caliber.

One of my FAVORITE Wegmans’ locations! It’s always been clean and well-​stocked. Even during peak times of the year, it’s actually very accommodating since there is a lot of space in here. I was very fortunate to work like 2 building’s down, so I walked here frequently for lunch. One place I always try to avoid is the bakery section! The cheesecakes, the tarts, the cakes, OM MY! A dieters worse enemy. Oh and of course, as I wrap up, the subs are always delish!!! Love Wegmans and love this location!

We ordered 4 suns for the game today. Wow are they lacking meat. Not what you usually expect from wegmans. It kind of put a damper on our get together.

Great food especially for being from a grocery store. The subs are some of the best in the area. They are huge and made fresh right in front of you. The sushi is good but a bit pricey. Charlie the butcher sandwiches are always amazing. Great place to get a quick bite for the road or to sit and enjoy in the dining area

This wegmans is not my home store but is probably nicer with a wider variety of selection in the premade food section. In just browsing, we saw surf and turf and a whole array of high end dinners premade to take home and pop in the oven. It would be awesome to have that at our wegmans! The crew I was with all got subs and they were on par just as they are always at every wegmans I’ve ever been to. The staff was friendly, quick, and we got in and out just in time to get to the tailgate we were going to (super close to Ralph Wilson stadium if you are looking to pick up beer and snacks before an event there).

Wegmans is the best grocery store. My parents live near the McKinley and I, sadly, no longer live near a Wegmans. Whenever i come into Buffalo, it’s one of my first stops. The prepared foods are incredible. The marketing is amazing and the store sells itself. This time when I went in there was a live band! If you haven’t been to Wegmans, do yourself a favor and GO.

Well we stopped here after shopping this morning and got lunch. My Fiancée got herslef some sushi, I had some Pizza and my son had a sub and they were all at the same place which was awesome and it was very clean. I recommend this store.

Placed an order for a sub to pick it up tomorrow at 9am. Hiking provisions!
Wegmans in Blasdell has always done well for me. Whether it was picking up a sub to go on a hiking trip as was the case on this last visit, or putting together party trays for the lunch and learn trainings I used to host, I’ve never had a complaint.
Their sushi and take-​out selections are excellent as well.

I’ve only been to this Wegmans or for that matter any Wegmans a few times and each time I’ve been — I’m not impressed. At least that’s always been my first impression after hearing all the rant and rave about the place.
This time was no different then any other time, because I do not shop here on a regular basis — finding anything just seems like a chore. However, they do have variety and selection.
On to the review — this place has impeccable cleanliness throughout and this included the restrooms. I noticed that they cater to the mom’s and dad’s as the men’s restroom was fully stocked with even diapers in the changing area — a first I’ve seen anywhere within my travels.
The entire place was busy with folks looking and shopping and getting what they needed — though I didn’t see any carts fully filled at any point.
The selection seemed endless as we looked in high hopes for various types of bagged kale ready for steaming, but found only regular kale — disappointed for sure! We also looked for a larger variety of coffee creamer and again disappointed– though they did have a large bottle of sugar free vanilla caramel creamer — nice! Looking for their brand of decaf k-​cups also proved not to be positive and therefore we left overall disappointed in the selection and variety we had heard so much about.
Fruits and veggie selection seemed good as did the meats and seafood, but again — no Chilean Sea Bass to be found. We did pick up the typical sushi for our DIL, but that was about the only thing we were able to find that we haven’t been able to find in our local hometown grocery store.
Having said all of this — one might think I was so disappointed I’d never return or give this place a 1 or 2 star, but my first impression wasn’t necessarily correct and I really think that Wegmans does a good job with most things and if I were a regular shopper I might find things easier! Therefore — I will stick with a three star rating — mainly for the kid-​friendly services and the overall cleanliness of the store!

I would seriously consider moving back to the east coast for Wegmans alone. They are THAT good of a grocery store. Once you have experienced Wegmans, no other grocery store will ever compare. My husband won’t let me do something crazy like move across a country just for a grocery store, so I’ll stay in WA.
So you can read in other people’s reviews about how much Wegmans is awesome in customer service, selection, price, quality, ect. They really are #1! I super miss the deli, the subs, the market café, and the chili (they put cumin in it and it is delicious). I grew up with Wegmans, I love Wegmans, nothing beats Wegmans.
But let me tell you the absolute real reason I love this Wegmans: they saved my Mom’s life. A few years ago my Mother was here to go to the pharmacy and buy some cat food and a newspaper. She gets her cat food and newspaper and is in line at the pharmacy and suddenly she feels lightheaded and out of it… next thing she knows she wakes up in an ambulance with her purse, a newspaper and the cat food. Wegmans pharmacy staff rushed to her aid and not only did they get her help, they gave her the newspaper and cat food. It’s kind of funny and some people might say, «so what Wegman’s gave your Mom $ 4 in free stuff» but to me, that just shows how classy they are. They didn’t want their customer to not get what she came for. It turns out my Mom’s blood sugar was allegedly almost 1000… anyone who knows about blood sugar knows she should have been either dead or in a coma. It is a miracle she didn’t die that day. My Mom didn’t even know she was a diabetic until then! If Wegman’s pharmacy staff hadn’t reacted so quickly and got her help right away, she could have died. Again, you could tell me they just did their job but I really think they went above and beyond for her. When I think of the Blasdell Wegman’s, I always think to myself, «they helped and saved my Mom». Even if Wegman’s wasn’t the best grocery store on earth (which they are!) I would still be a fan forever for helping my Mom.
Another thing I love about Wegmans, they make it very easy to buy their gift cards online at their website. Every holiday or gift occasion, I always buy my parents Wegman’s gift cards. My parents LOVE them, I love knowing I’m getting them a useful present they can appreciate, and I love supporting a business I feel proud to shop at.
Wegman’s fan for life!

I rated one Wegmans and thought that should do it, no reason to rate others separately. Well I now realize that plan is a fail as they are all set up a little differently with some carrying products others do not.
For example the Wegmans here has Loose Leaf Bulk tea (a lot organic and at good prices), it has an Olive Oil filling station similar to what you see at D’Avolio, and also a bigger beer selection than the one I regularly go to.
Also since this one is a bit bigger than other locations I go to the produce, bakery, and prepared foods sections seem to offer more space to move around. Might have to start taking the extra drive to go to the nicer Wegmans here.

I’m not from upstate NY, so I haven’t quite drank the kool-​aid on Wegman’s, although I can appreciate a grocery store that has great produce and promotes local farms.
Aside from produce, the rest of Wegman’s looks like any old grocery chain to me. The butcher counter is tiny and only has a few select cuts of meat (everything else is shrink-​wrapped), we couldn’t find a decent sandwich roll or loaf of crusty bread at the bakery counter (although they’re tops in the donut category), and the rest is your typical big box «miles of aisles» of consumer packaged goods.
Pro tip: Apparently you’re meant to weigh and label your loose produce before going to the checkout. We didn’t realize this, and our checker, unaccustomed to knowing produce codes, spent 30 minutes looking up each and every unlabeled fruit and vegetable. Poor kid.

Good god I LOVE WEGMANS, I wish there was one of those out here in Cali.
It beats any Trader Joes, Wholefoods, Sprouts anyday!

Great store, has almost everything you need! Won’t be cheaper than Aldi’s and Tops Markets does have competitive prices but the service of their employees makes Wegmans all-​around a better plaxe

High quality food, and selections that put EVERYONE else to shame! There isn’t much you can’t find at Wegmans!!! If you want baked goods, fresh seafood, various takeout, excellent beer selection, a pharmacy, florist, grade A fancy produce, top cut meats, a large bulk section, and sooooo much more make Wegmans your one stop shop!
My removal of two stars is due to the fact that they are on the pricey side compared to the other supermarkets, and the fact that it would seem the place is always packed! Expect crammed ails, and long lines on the checkout.

I love Wegmans. The care and thought that goes into each store is outstanding. Sadly, I must subtract one star for the people. Yes, the people.
If you go to Wegmans any time after 9am on the weekends its maddening. The isles are jammed with carts, rude people, and no parking spots. Its so frustrating when its full.
The kids area behind the café is what makes it for me. We got and shop and then my son can play… its a family outing… to the GROCERY STORE!

We just moved home to WNY from CA. I am amazed at what Wegman’s has to offer. I knew they were great when I left 15 years ago but since I’ve been gone they’ve REALLY stepped it up.
My wife asked me to change our daughter in the Men’s restroom because the Women’s restroom was «all out of size 4 & 5 diapers.» What the heck? As I entered the Men’s room I saw a crazy display of accessories needed for changing a little tyke! Each size neatly compartmentalized and ready for using. Wipes too. I felt like I was in a relatives’ home using their baby changing station.
On Mother’s Day my 20 month old and I sneaked out of the house early in the a.m. to get mommy some flowers from Wegman’s. The lady who worked the floral station told me she was «embarrassed» how her area looked (I saw absolutely NOTHING wrong with the appearance). She told me of the mad rush they had the night prior and how she hadn’t yet had time to get things «back in order.»
To see an employee of Wegman’s take such pride of their work and their work area is amazing to me. I left an area where the protocol was to take the customers’ money and shoo them out the door quickly so you could move onto the next dollar — I mean customer.
«Service after the sale» is a phrase I had almost entirely forgotten until returning home to WNY and shopping at this Wegman’s.
It’s no wonder they’re the «#3 fortune 500 company to work for in America.»
I will almost never award a 5^th star for reviews. I believe by doing so you are essentially saying, «It’s perfect and there is almost no possible way for this place to improve anything else further.» If you over use that 5^th star, it essentially dilutes the rest of your ratings.
Wegman’s deserves my rare 5^th star — without reservation.

I love Wegmans with all my being. Ok, so we all know the food rocks all sorts of socks, so this is a specific review: Flowers.
I’m getting married, and I’m cheap, so of course I go to a food store to get my flowers, right? Well, cheap I may be but I was pleasantly surprised at how eager to help the floral staff was and how big of a selection they had. The woman there, Amanda, was open to anything I wanted and made all sorts of very helpful suggestions. She was pleasent to work with and really made me feel special. And, mais oui, the price is right. Wedding flowers for $ 150? Oh count me in.
This is what set Wegman’s apart — the staff are some of the best people I’ve ever spoken with or worked with. Plus one million for the help.
Also, as a temporarily wheelchair bound person, I can assure that this is an accessible store, as much as it can be. Some items on the shelf are way to high, but ask any employee and they will jump to help you out. They also have the scoot scoot scooters if you are so inclined, but you may be relegated to a basket or some helping hands pushing a cart.

Wegman’s makes any other grocery chain look like Aldi.
They have every day goods, more upscale goods than any other grocery chain, more meats, more cheeses, more of just about everything. They don’t just sell you a nice cut of meat, they sell you the roaster or le creuset french cookware to go with it.
They have an outpost of Charlie the Butcher here where you can get fresh and good beef on weck…
Though they do have a lot of products to pick from, apparently they aren’t magic and do run out of things. They were out of the brand of hotdogs we wanted, and also didn’t have any Mexican chorizo left…
The best part of this store in comparison to just about any other chain grocery store I’ve been to is the vast number of employees that are always around to help. there literally isn’t an aisle to walk down where you won’t find someone restocking a shelf and available to ask questions. It seems like every person knows everything there is pretty familiar with the foods in their section, and can probably offer cooking tips, etc.
One of the workers was super snotty when we whipped out the camera… I guess the competition always comes in to try to be more like Wegman’s. yada yada… but it’s not like she explained this… she was just rude, she could’ve just asked nicely?
