I’ve lived down the street from this place for 20years. It has always been a staple for chinese food in the area. Sure you can go to all the other new age chinese american places or even those fast food ones that make you go «wei» but this place never gets old. Yes the décor is old and a lil tacky, but it adds some character to it. We’ve ordered mostly takeout and on a handful of occassions we have dined in. The place has some staple dishes. My typical order for the family is as follows: –Egg drop soup –Egg Rolls or Spring rolls(both are superb but CAUTION, these are extremely hot everytime so let them by cutting them open) –Almond Chicken(this one order feeds my family of 4 and we usually have some to spare. Be sure to use plenty of sauce if you like, you will have leftover sauce after if u just spoon it from the carton. –Mongolian Beef(lots of vegetables paired w/the beef, sometimes you might hunt for the beef. But very flavorful and tender beef) –Shrimp fried rice(enough said) Don’t be fooled by the location either. Sure next door is a subway and the plaza next to it is a lot for rent. This is one of those places you can just depend on for a great meal.

Boring food. Old dirty run down interior. Web page and menu at restaurant show bar/liquor items, which they don’t have. Waitress was friendly. Would not go back.

Jade Tiki is a fun throwback to how Chinese places used to be. Knicky knacky stuff all over, good«American» Chinese food, etc. If you are looking for a pretty good Chinese place, skip the carry out only place and come here. It’s good.

Whoa whoa is this for real the best chinese restaurant here? I can’t believe that after what I ordered. Perhaps I should have ordered something more American chinese as opposed to trying to get something authentic which of course I really didn’t find. I can tell they do american chinese right, the crab rangoons were delish. However the entrée I had, sezchuan beef, was really sezchuan rubber. I mean the veggies were delicious and great in the sauce but the beef was unappealingly tough and chewy like it had been cooked, sitting out, and not properly tenderized(like they do at every other chinese restaurant). I wasn’t even sure if it was beef or pork of which I don’t eat because I have an aversion. Just that fact alone gave me an aversion to the beef. I think if i ordered vegetarian I’d love the entrée and whatever fried concoction they can throw at me, but I don’t judge a Chinese restaurant on their fried or vegetarian options ever. Especially after working at a Chinese restaurant in the back and noting that those fried things are often re-fried for business and sit around waiting until business comes. I’m hesitant to return.

Jade tiki has been a staple food in my life ever since I could remember. After Chinese school on Saturdays myself and our Asian clan consisting of five families all of either Malaysian-Chinese or Singaporean-Chinese decent would come and eat. The moms would talk gossip, the dads would talk auto companies and business and the kids would talk Pokemon. While many of us have grown up, the oldest of us all is now working on his PhD, we still venture back to Jade tiki when we can. Ever since the old chef retired and dim sum has stopped we have not been frequenting the good ol’ Jade Tiki as often as we used to but we still try to get there as much as we can. Story over! Anyways. If you’re looking for pretty good chinese food, here is where you get it. While Spring Rolls are pretty Americanized, I would scarf NUMEROUS of these down ANYDAY. Crispy, golden, meaty, delicious. I have never had a better spring roll and I have tasted almost every Chinese restaurant in the suburban Detroit area. Anyway, the dim sum was FABULOUS. Better than the West-Bloomfield Shangri-La but alas. No more here. You can’t go wrong with the noodle dishes hear. They taste authentic and I feel way less regretful after eating them than at other Chinese places. Final Verdict: Love the jade tiki, tacky décor but over the years has become appreciable, good food, AMAZING spring rolls.

After reading the previous reviews, my husband and I decided to give Jade Tiki a try, and we’re glad we did. We tried the Spring Rolls and were not disappointed. They were light, crispy and not greasy at all. I ordered the Shrimp and Cashews and my husband had a Szechuan chicken dish(can’t remember which one) and we both enjoyed them very much. The portions were large and delicious(Shrimp & Cashews for lunch today!) and the service was friendly and prompt. We will definitely go back!

Wow. Just, wow. We chose this restaurant based on the other review… and we were NOT disappointed! This was actually our first chinese meal since moving here almost six months ago – and needless to say we are now spoiled! From the outside, the restaurant doesn’t look like much. It’s in a tiny strip-mall type area that is missing a few businesses and has a gigantoid parking lot. Once inside, it’s not much better – the décor is your typical cheesy-looking booths with chinese artwork hanging on the wall. But the food? Wow. I told my husband I’d much rather have them spend their money on the food than the décor. We ordered the spring rolls(thanks to the other reviewer) and the crab rangoon. Both were delicious. Like, DELICIOUS. The spring rolls were filled with chicken and fried to a perfect golden brown. My husband joked that there was so much chicken in them, they should be called chinese chicken fingers! And we are big fans of crab rangoons anyway, but these were almost perfection – perfectly golden brown with an abundance of creamy filling. The accompanying sauces were great, too – not too sweet like some chinese sauces can be.(We also started with soups, and my egg drop was pretty darn good. Hubby said his wonton was just okay.) For entrees, we ordered General Tso’s Chicken and a steak and veggie dish(I was going to edit my review with the actual name once I found the menu we brought home, but it was only a Carry Out menu – it was something like Ho Su). And you know what was amazing? The chicken dish was made with – are you ready? – WHITEMEAT! Every General’s chicken dish we’ve ever had has been made with dark meat and is usually filled with some grisly/chewy bits… but not at Jade Tiki! That was majorly impressive. Almost the same could be said about my steak dish – it was a good cut of meat and not grisly at all! And then out came the fortune cookies… and almond cookies! Oh my. I swear the fortune cookies were made fresh(they didn’t come in plastic packaging) and were so tasty. And the almond cookies? I wanted to take home a whole bag! Last but not least, the service was great and the food came out quickly. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and we will surely be back. We just wish it was a bit closer to us(it’s about 15 minutes) so we could stop on our way home or run there quick for some crab rangoon…

Oh my god. Oh my god. Just the words«Jade Tiki» make me salivate. This has been a staple in my parents’ household since I can remember, though for some reason it was always IN their household. We never ate at the restaurant. We always got take-out. I don’t know why; I’ve since eaten there several times and it’s great. I have to say though, for some reason it’s better sitting at my mom’s kitchen table, or upstairs in front of the TV, eating off of actual TV tables. Awww, the ritual of my mom getting bowls, spoons, forks, soy sauce and drinks, and putting them on a tray and carrying it all upstairs in anticipation of the yummy Jade Tiki bags still chokes me up.(Even though the restaurant is huge, they do way more business from take-out. While you eat dinner, at least ten people will com in to pick up their orders.) We love the almond chicken. It is moist and juicy white meat with the crunchiest, tastiest coating on it. I don’t personally care for the orange gravy, but everyone else likes it. My mom loves the vegetable egg foo yung, my grandpa(Pop) always gets moo goo gai pan and my grandma(Nonnie) orders sweet and sour chicken — all good. Won ton, egg rolls, hot tea — all on point. But hear this: You will never eat a better roll at a Chinese restaurant than the spring roll at Jade Tiki. The wrap is crispy and the filling is a succulent blend of shrimp, chicken and some sort of oozy sauce that — when combined with a little hot mustard, some soy sauce(a lot of soy sauce, in my case) and that great sweet plum sauce — is like manna from heaven. When I was younger, I never ate the spring rolls(I didn’t eat much of anything but cheese and pizza, come to think of it), but now that I’ve had them, I’m tempted to just order six spring rolls and forget the rest. One thing about eating in at Jade Tiki, they have a sick array of drinks. Like, crazy drinks from the 60s that you never here about any more. Mai tai, Singapore Sling — and they’re like $ 3.75! I have to admit, I’ve never ordered one, but I see the full bar, so just know it’s available. A last reminder: Please order the spring rolls! You will not be disappointed. Forget the egg rolls. Egg rolls are for chumps. JADETIKISPRINGROLLS. It’s like some sort of hint from god that he actually exists.
