I am looking a menu that says they«LOAD» their pizzas with toppings. False advertising for sure! The toppings were sparse at best. We also ordered a calzone. The eggplant in it was breaded and fried! I think they might’ve run out and used some from the eggplant parm. I wish they had told me because I would have said no thanks. We had a 10 $ off coupon and still felt like we did not get our money’s worth! We won’t be going back.

Nothing special. That’s what I like about this place. Some notes: –Not many seats. Certainly no seats for parties of 3+. –Lunch special: A slice, 2 garlic breads, and a soda for $ 3.99 I probably wouldn’t eat here often. But I’d eat here to switch it up a bit for lunch if I worked around the area.

love the no frills pepperoni and cheese you’d fine in any neighborhood in NYC. not fancy pizza by any means. definitely not Grimaldi’s.

The best«white pizza» I have been able to find in the«four B’s» area. The perfect balance of cheeses, butter, and garlic. We make the drive for that alone.

Went here while visiting my friend in Bloomfield Hills and must say the pizza is pretty good. The biggest gripe is that it is EXTREMELY oily and the slicest are very small for the pirce. Not much more to say but it is definitely a place i’d go again if I needed a slice in the area but it doesn’t rank with Denver’s Fugghedabowdit or any other places as a favorite slice.

I always have a hard time rating places with good food but that is lacking in other areas… because this pizza deserves a solid four stars… but it is seriously lacking in good places to sit. So how do you rate it? On the food? Or on the whole experience? Sigh. In the end, I go with the whole experience. So, what about the seating didn’t I like? All they have is bar stools lined up against one wall(two stools per table) and against the front window(at a long bar table). This is just NOT conducive to a party of two or more OR someone who needs a high chair or somewhere to put a booster seat… which would be us, unfortunately.(Yes, I should have looked closer at the pictures before we got there, but I was just so excited to be trying a place on our list.) We got stuff to go, and it was quickly heated and boxed. I wish the cashier had asked if I wanted a drink – I totally didn’t think about it and we definitely wanted something to drink while we were eating in the car. That said, the cheese slices were quite yummy. I could have easily eaten a few more slices(we just got one piece each). And I agree with the other reviewers that the crust was awesome – the perfect combination of crispy and chewy. I wasn’t overly thrilled with the breadstick or the spinach rollup(I think that’s what she called it). Both of those could have been much more buttery and/or cheesy. We’d certainly go back to get take-out(or if we were in the area), but we wouldn’t plan on eating in. I’d like to give them 3.5 stars, but have to stick with three.

I’ve been on a kick where I’m comparing New York to Chicago. I’m not exactly sure why. Whether it’s hot dog and pizza paradigms or culinary scenes, these two great cities beg comparison. Having grown up in New York and New Jersey and having recently visited Manhattan, I’m all about what’s New York while I’d like to visit Chicago to see what’s going on over there. Having been transplanted to Detroit, I feel the pull of Chicago’s gravity far more strongly than I ever have in my life. While it’s a great city with great food, my own history is full of something else. So, I have no nostalgia for Chicago food traditions. How good a job does My Cousin’s do at satisfying my cravings for New York pizza? While it’s not perfect, it’s probably one of the best representations of New York pizza here in town. I’ve been going there on and off for a number of years. I could be wrong, but I think it used to be better. I think that the change in ownership definitely changed the character of the pizza. I think it was also a little more consistent under the previous régime. I am, however, still a fan. The basic elements are still intact. The crust is still just right. The sauce is still pretty much spot-on. My favorite is the plain cheese slice. There is a great elemental purity to the flavor of the plain cheese slice unadulterated by other toppings. Don’t get me wrong. I love meat on my pizza, but there’s just something archetypal about a plain cheese slice. It’s like the way Guinness stands as the paradigm for a stout. Sure, you can flavor your stout however you want. You can put whatever toppings you want on a pizza, but somehow, like Guinness, the New York cheese slice just works on a sublime level when done well. I think they do a pretty good job with that at My Cousin’s. Sure, there are some limitations. I agree with Richard F. that the tip of the slice can droop here when you fold that sucker and try to point it into your mouth. So, yeah. The middle of the pie can get a bit soggy here, which is unfortunate. Still, it’s a better representation of a New York pizza than most things in Metro Detroit.

I have had countless pies from My Cousin’s, and each time they have delivered on some fantastic pepperoni pies. They have a Mon-Wed deal where you can get a medium pepperoni pie for $ 6.50. You can not beat that. They have recently changed owners and I was afraid we were going to lose the true Brooklyn taste, but they only took it up a notch! The sauce is fresh and spicy, not just tomato paste. My favorite place to get a pie no matter what time of the day.

Interesting that there may be new owners. This was a 5 star place. But I noticed today neither of the owners were in and there were some new people behind the counter. The breadsticks were bigger and not in a good way. The pizza was a bit overcooked. Sad if the owners are gone. It will then likely disappear soon.

Fantastic! Unlike any of the chains. Very thin crust, big/foldable pieces. YUM. Monday — Wednesday special is great! $ 6.00 cheese or pepperoni pizza.

Well I hate to throw cold water on a hot fire, and as much as I would love to have a real New York Pizza Place right near where I live, My Cousin’s just isn’t that. First of all let me tell you that I grew up in New York and lived all over that area including Bensonhurst Brooklyn. And I can probably identify which of he great Pizza places in New York a slice comes from blindfolded, just by the attributes. My Pizza fanatic friends and I have argued over the relative goodness of a John’s slice versus a Joe’s slice in Greenwich Village or whether Pepe’s, Sally’s or the Spot in New Haven have the best offerings. So after reading the great reviews of My Cousin’s, I was really pumped. Here’s what I thought about this pizza. The crust was better than most of the stuff you get in Michigan, but strangely the pie we ordered(Sausage and Green Peppers) was nice and crunchy on the outside but soggy in the middle. So any self respecting New Yorker would have tried to pick up the slices and fold it as we did, but this was just not possible. Second, the cheese(if you call it that, more about this later) floated on the top of the sauce. It wasn’t as if there was too much sauce, but somehow the chemistry wasn’t right. The cheese did not bond to the sauce nor the sauce to the crust. So it was a slimy mess to eat. The sauce itself was OK, nothing special and had that out of a can taste. The cheese was where this pie really fell apart. Pizza should be made with real Mozzarella. And if it comes from New Haven or somewhere around there, it can be Scamozza which is very similar, almost exactly the same. This stuff wasn’t natural Mozzarella at all. In fact, I really wonder if it was real cheese. There was lots of it, And it was gooey and it made nice strings between the slices, but it had that chemistry set taste that you expect to find at a Pizza Hut or a cheap fast food chain. I was just all wrong. Finally the toppings were not New York style. In NYC, they cut the sausage into thin slices and the peppers are not diced but rather thin slices, and often sauteed before they go on the pie so they don’t come out crunchy. We had those little blobs of poor tasting sausage Ala Pizza Hut and diced green pepper that was not at all cooked through when the pizza came out. And of course the pie did not have nice spices like basil or garlic. It was just a plain pie. So I think these guys are trying, but this just is not New York Pizza and sadly not even good Michigan Pizza. For a much better New Haven style pie, try one of the two Tomatoes Apizza locations and so far, for a NY pie, there’s just… New York.

The four stars are for their hot whole pies. Slices are probably two and a half stars. Something was lost when I ordered a solitary slice. Very good NY style crust. Not too greasy.

This is the Best New York Style pizza in MI that I have had. After getting a tip from another Unilocaler about this place yesterday, I had to check it out. So I went and got a slice for lunch, and man did it bring me back to when I lived in NYC. The sauce is great and the crust even had that slight crunch when you bite into it. A real NY pie right here in MI. The owner was very nice and is from Brooklyn, we talked about NY for a while. This is now my new spot for Pizza, I just wish it was a little closer to me, but it is well worth the drive. I wish I had a slice now.

If you want true NY style pizza… this is the place to go. It’s not a cheesy NY pizza knock off. The pizza is super thin, and greasy just like you get in NYC. The only thing I don’t like is the NY style pepperoni… if you like crunchy pep like I do, you won’t like the pep. they have here… but the pizza, breadstix, lasagna, wings, and salads are all great. With the pizza being thinner, it’s not quite as filling as normal… for 2 people that are quite hungry I would suggest getting a side with a small pizza… also the pizza can get pricey… a large cheese is 11.99 plus 2.15 per topping and a large specialty pizza can run you 17.99…just and FYI that this won’t be a cheaper pizza meal, especially if you add delivery. Look for coupons and try this place thou… the owners are good people and the staff is very accommodating.
