Went there just this Saturday. The place was half empty, which can be disconcerting. The atmosphere is just OK. I’m not sure if this was an exception, but the service was incredibly slow. The waitress was attentive, but it took at least 45 mins(perhas an hour) for our appetizers to arrive, 2 of which were just salads. Given that there were only 3 – 4 other tables, we were perplexed by the wait. The entrees arrived very late as well. The food was mixed. Everyone else’s dish seemed to be pretty good. My rice and seafood was dry and could have been Rice A Roni.

By far the best steak in Bloomfield at the most reasonable price. Don’t take my word for it, try it for your self. I doubt you will disagree with me. I normally leave restaurants disatisfied whenever I order steak. Its either to rubbery, to dry, or not cooked the way I requested it. NOT at Amalias! Ive ordered the steak on multiple visits to the restaurant, and each time its been a really pleasant experience. I haven’t had to ask for steak sauce even once, and thats crazy to me because I even ask for steak sauce at places like Peter Lugars. If your in the mood for a great piece of steak, give them a try. You won’t regret it.

Went Labor Day weekend on a Saturday, wasn’t busy at all. Byob. Some dishes on the menu had Spanish influence. My wife had salmon which she liked a lot and I had a cowboy steak which was very good. Overall very good tasty food.

We(two couples) just happened into this cute little restaurant on Broad Street last night, were actually on our way to another restaurant but changed our minds when we saw the menu posted outside. To say that we were not disappointed is an understatement. Food was great, the owner gracious, and the prices couldn’t be beat. And BYOB. We had appetizers, entrees and dessert, all tasted fresh, well seasoned and clearly made to order. We had chorizos, camarones al ajillo, llapingachos, saffron mariscada, arroz marineo, tiramisu, chocolate cake and Kahlua flan. Definitely recommend.

Had a nice meal with my wife and daughter last night. We especially enjoyed the salmon dish and sausage appetizer. Ambience was nice and the staff recommended a nearby liquor store for the byob wine. Very friendly. Comforting to have this restaurant in our home town. C

Had such a wonderful meal! My boyfriend and I completely cleaned our plates. The bread was so delicious and came out fresh from the oven. My favorite was the camarones al ajillo! The décor and ambiance was warm and inviting. Quite the hidden gem!

Amalias has consistently impressed. We have had dinner there twice. The paella was flavorful, the seafood was fresh and delicious. The short ribs my partner ordered were also great. Of course I had to taste them. I ordered them on our next visit and was not disappointed. Today we stopped by for their brunch which they offer on Saturday and Sunday. Nice selection set up buffet style. Potatoes, bacon and omelets made to order. They also has chicken, fish, rice, fresh fruit, bread, cake and a few other items. The owner and his wife, as well as the staff, are friendly and make the time to speak with everyone. I have to say Amalias is a welcome addition to the Bloomfield North Center dining scene. I’m looking forward to our next visit.

The place was almost totally empty on a Sat night which was concerning at first but the excellent service and delicious food told another story. First two apps on the menu were delicious and the Cowboy Steak was perfect! We will be back!

The menu has variety of type of foods, the food was good, but they serve small amount of food for the price. The service was really good, but the bench close to the wall is uncomfortable after a while of being sitting.

Amalia’s! Newer place in Bloomfield, it’s been there 5 months or so and I just tried it out. We had a great overall experience. On the Saturday night that I went, they had live music. A guy sitting in the back playing guitar, singing in Spanish. It’s a very intimate setting, the slow music made it even more so. It wasn’t too busy, but I’m sure the snow and mess was keeping people home. Started with the garlic shrimp, they came with potato pancakes, good stuff. For my entrée I had a chicken dish, came with sundried tomato, spinach, artichoke hearts, and garlic mashed potato in some type of white wine garlic sauce. If I could add a few of my favorite sides to a meal, this would be it. Perfect. The chicken was grilled to perfection, it really was amazing. We me the chef and the owner, very nice people. Definitely going to make more frequent visits. BYOB.

A cozy restaurant tucked in on broad street. Our waitress was so friendly she recommended the stuffed flounder and the strip steak. Both were prepared so nicely and tasted like a little bit of heaven. We really did leave feeling like family!

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Bloomfield. The atmosphere is perfect for a quiet night out with friends. The service was smooth and very professional. I had the potato encrusted tilapia which I enjoyed a lot. Great appetizers as well. The food is simply satisfying! It’s BYOB and there’s a lots of parking spaces in the back. A must try if you are around the area!

OK so I cant believe someone said the food is bland. That’s a BSREVIEW. the food is loaded with flavors. Its a great atmosphere and If you bring a nice bottle of wine it will be a nice evening out. I’ve tried a few things on the menu and I can honestly say I have not had one bad meal. Maybe if you don’t enjoy what u order try something else. Give it a chance before you write a negative response.

Without a doubt, this a great dinner spot. It has great ambiance; making you feel all warm and cozy. The staff is pleasant and pretty knowledgable. Its a great addition to Bloomfield Ave. The menu was pretty good, nothing really eye catching but still enough options to choose from. They did service this amazing hot bread that tasted like it was fresh out of the oven; bread was served with olives and an oil and balsamic mix dip. For an app, my friend and I shared a seafood dish. It included shrimp, clams, and mussels. The shrimp was tiny! More like the shrimp you add to a salad. Claims were good and so were the mussels. However, we did have a mussel that completely shut, a little dissappointed that they did not replace it since its not edible. The wait time to get our food was extremely long. We waited about 40 minutes before the app came out and another 40 minutes before the entrees came out. We were there for well over an hour before we were eating dinner. The food was decent. Seafood Paella was okay… lacked flavor and is pretty small in portion. My boyfriend raved about his pork chop and our friend bragged about his stuffed flounder. Overall, good place if you’re in the area. Don’t think I would go out of the way to go back.

They’ve only been open for a week, and their food is delicious! Staff is friendly, management came out to thank everyone for coming, and the chef came out to talk, too. French onion soup made from scratch impressed even my mom who says it was as good as the best she had in Paris. My stuffed flounder with spinach and boursin was fantastic, as were the whipped saffron potatoes. Cappuccinos were good as was the tiramisu dessert. It’s a small restaurant, so get your reservation on OpenTable & go!
