The atmosphere is this place is great. Kinda reminds of Cheers. Everyone knows everyone and they welcome you in just like they have known you for years. The food is good. Especially the oysters which I get every time I’m there. I’ve also had the breakfast but I don’t recommend the pancakes I haven’t got them not burnt. But the platter is a good price on the weekend for the money. The waitress or bartender could be trained a little better also. I’ve sit before waiting to have my drink refilled or I had to flagged them. The last time I was in there I seen more of the bartender then I wanted to see. The food is good and I hope they can find good help to make this place work. I only get in there maybe a couple times a month but it seems like there is always someone knew working.

Although the exterior of restaurant isn’t that impressive, I was thoroughly surprised when I walked inside by the eye-appealing atmosphere and the table settings with flowers and the lighting. It looked classy — almost elegant, especially for a small town with few restaurant choices. There is a bar too. I hope people will try Bourbon Trail and see for themselves how nice it is… and how Good the food is… and how friendly the waitresses are. They really make everyone feel welcomed and like they are old friends even though they had never seen me and my friend before! There are lunch specials, and you get a LOT of food for a reasonable price. All desserts look so temptingly delicious. Hope my comments will encourage people who read this to go give this restaurant a try. These mom-&-pop restaurants like this need local support. I’m not«local» but sometimes drive there from Bardstown area to enjoy a good homemade type meal. I’m betting people who go once will be impressed and will go back again and again. You won’t be disappointed, in my opinion.

We ate there twice when it first opened. The first time, I got a burger & fries and it was fairly good. The second time we went for lunch on a Sunday and it was not good. The grilled cheese was burnt and cold. The fried shrimp tasted like it was microwaved from a box of freezer burnt shrimp from the local Dollar General. The steak sandwich was terrible. It looks like this is more of a bar now. No thanks.

Clean restaurant, friendly service, and daily specials(like them on FB to get specials) make BTD a welcome addition to Bloomfield, Kentucky. Some of the food is prepackaged, but the chef prepares it very well and serves it alongside his homemade specialties. The stuffed porkchop is delicious; the fried haddock is a generous portion. My favorite is the chicken noodle soup, although the rest of the soups(and chili) is way too salty. Ask about the daily desserts, made by the chef’s mother. Bourbon Trail Diner serves breakfast on weekends where I had a perfectly cooked over medium egg and heavenly rich white gravy. The menu selection does need more veggie options besides salad, green beans, and cole slaw. BTD should add a vegetable of the day that has local flair but can be prepared inexpensively. I suggest a daily rotation of cooked cabbage, stewed tomatoes, succotash(or just corn or lima beans), peas and carrots, and broccoli casserole.

The place is immaculately clean, but the ambience is depressingly austere. It just looks like someone drywalled a garage and painted it white. No charm at all. The prices are good, but most of the food that we had seemed to have been deep-fried from frozen, from a bag. The service was excellent though. It’s a place to eat, but not much more. It’s not a dining experience to write home about.
