I am a graduate of Saint Joseph College, with a medical BS degree in nutrition. Dr Comia’s ONLY advice to me after my physical, was to try and convince me to BUYSUPPLEMENTS she sells in her office. I explained that I already take each of the supplements she was recommending, and that I take high-grade supplements only. She criticized my supplements without even asking the brand. I saw that she sells some of the SAME brands I use, such as Twin Labs(which I buy at Whole Foods). But she charges much more for the same thing. Dr Comia is also very demeaning to her patients. She talks down to you. Honestly, I’ve met Drs who are rude, but none as much so as her. Here I already know about these supplements, and she is STILL disagreeing with me. Um… no. And each time I came in for an appt I had to wait between 45 minutes and 1 hour to see her. To me, that is just too long! Especially considering that both times I was the only patient in the office. Also, her staff is very rude. I called her office to double check the date of my upcoming appointment and the receptionist INSISTED I had a 7 am appt the following day. I told her I was on vacation and doubted I would have scheduled my appointment for that day. She RUDELY insisted that I was wrong. Then DEMANDED to know what I would do about my UPCOMINGSURGERY! I told her she must have the wrong patient because I’m NOT having surgery. She realized she was speaking to the wrong person but NEVER apologized for arguing with me over my appointment for over 5 minutes. This same«receptionist» was the one to check me in during my physical. She was very unprofessional while taking my vitals. Just«get on the scale» …silence …“give me your arm” …silence. Also, I called 3 times to request a copy of my blood work, but STILL have NOT received it in over a month. I’m in shock over this office’s unproffesionalism. Surprisingly, Dr Comia was my doctor 12 years ago when she worked in another office in Avon and I was a high school student. I actually liked her back then! Since she opened her own practice she has become nothing more then an overpriced GNC. I liked her much more before! Sad.

While I am sure there are people that will benefit from the services Dr. Comia offers, after my one appointment I will not be returning to her office. It felt like she had me diagnosed before she ever met me or saw my paperwork and wanted me to do several years of expensive diet, anti fungals, and supplements. Much of what she was suggesting, I had already done or am doing, but it was all dismissed because it wasn’t HER way even though she knew nothing about doses and methods that I had done previously or lengths of time in treatment. She believes every illness stems from toxins in our water and food. I’m sure there are many people that are effected by that but I do believe the mind and life stressors can also play a huge role in illness. It seemed that there was an overall belief that her methods are the ONLY way for anyone to get well and all other ideas are just plain ignorant. She was condescending towards everything I said. I would not find such negativity conducive towards my healing journey. I much prefer a warmer bedside manner and someone that considers me as an individual, not lumping us all into one category with the same problem. I was sad when I left that I had waited several weeks for my appointment hoping to get some pain relief just to have to find another doctor to wait more painful weeks to get in with. If you have lots of money, can work with her personality, and truly believe in her methods I am sure you will do just fine with her. Her ideas and views seem solid, I believe she is very knowledgeable about her particular treatment methods, and the amount of faith and power she gives to her beliefs can be powerful tools in helping people get better.
