Foodshare

In lieu of favors at our wedding last month, Jason M. and I made a donation to Foodshare. It was a no-​brainer to select this charity because they have served many families in-​need in the Hartford area.
Making a donation was very easy to do online. Not only did I get a thank you card, I also got a thank phone call from a representative! I felt good that my donation was very appreciated. Thus, I will continue to support Foodshare whenever I am in the financial situation to give.

Because a) one of the professional organizations I belong to is constantly holding food drives, and b) my place of employment on the Windsor/​Bloomfield line places me as the closest member within driving distance, over the years I have made many food dropoffs at Foodshare, the latest occuring this morning.
At 8:15 AM the place was bustling with activity, volunteers piling into the office, trucks backing up to the loading dock to either drop off or deliver, individual vehicles (like mine) dropping off donations– I dropped off 110 pounds of stuff today.
It’s really nice to know that a place like this exists to lend a helping hand to families in trouble. I chatted with the Foodshare rep at the Unilocal Ball at the Society Room last month, and the dedication I saw in that young lady was inspiring.
