This little house with the nice workers inside, just took some business away from Cuban Pete’s. The food was cook with a lot of love. Now I usually only go to Cuban Pete’s when it came to Cuban food. But now that I got a taste of this restaurant, I would be splitting my time between here and Cuban Pete’s. This may be my 1st choice, especially since the price is right. Hopefully they won’t raise the price and lower the amount of food they give out, like a lot of big franchise do, once the business become more popular. But as for now, I got to give them props. The area is not what I’m use to going to, but it’s not the worst I been to. The staff were very friendly. We did take out, and the food was still warm when we got home about 25 minutes later. I had the Ox Tails, rice & beans & plantains. And who ever did the cooking, put their foot in it. By the way, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, «put their foot in it», is one of the best compliment a cook can get. I also brought the Cuban sandwich since someone on Unilocal recommend it. And I’m glad I did. This food remind me of the Cuban restaurant I went to in Miami. So keep up the good work …

Finally got a chance to try this place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the girl by the counter. She was very patient with me. She showed me all the different varieties of food that they carried. I ordered the chicken with rice and beans, which was very tasty. I got a side order of plantains that were cooked to perfection. I saw on their menu that they had empanadas. They didn’t have any made so they made it for me fresh. It was a great experience and I will definitely be back.

Great food & service. Finally gave this spot a try and I must say I WILL be back. SOON! The staff was very friendly, they could tell it was our first time here and we’re very informative. They showed us around and made us aware of all the food options. The food was so so tasty. My brother got the Cuban sandwich and devoured it! I tasted a price and was satisfied as well. I got the shredded beef, very flavorful. Beans tasted so good & the plantains were nice and sweet. Only downfall of coming at night is that some items are sold out. Naturally at a great food spot.

My boyfriend is from North Bergen and whenever we visit his parents we always, ALWAYS get the best spanish food which isn’t tough in that area. he moved here a few years back with me to Bloomfield and the problem has always been finding great home cooked Cuban food in this area. Havana is the rare hidden gem in Bloomfield that I am so happy to have found. The staff is always courteous and friendly which is a huge plus. We have tried different things from the menu and have always been completely satisfied with our order. The prices are fantastic as well. Couldn’t be happier with Havana, definitely have our repeat business!

Now THAT’S the Cuban Sammich that I’ve been searching for! The Ham and pork were nice and tender, the Swiss was good, I liked the Mustard(I would have used one with just a bit more«snap» but still awesome). But what makes it is the bread! Delicious!!! Perfect crunch with just the right amount of tenderness. I am definately coming back here! The beef emionada was also great! Handmade!

We just had take out for the first time from here. I was so happy to hear we have a Cuban place in Bloomfield but sadly I was disappointed. :(The croquettas were so burnt! They are practically charred with no taste. The chicken dish was small. Maybe it would be bigger if you ate there? The papa rellena wasn’t too tasty. Overall wasn’t the best experience. Guess I will continue driving to West New York for good Cuban food that is worth the drive.

3.5 You know what led me to Havana Sandwich Café? The movie Chef with Jon Favreau and John Leguizamo. For those are unfamiliar with the movie, in short, without giving everything away, is about a guy who decides to start a Cuban Food Truck business. Cuban Sandwiches among other things, are his main sellers. So what does one do to satisfy such an food urge? Go on Unilocal and find the closest establishment that sells Cuban Sandwiches. The search results yielded obviously to HSC. My bf and I got here shortly after work last night and decided to order to-go. One CUBANSANDWICH, one MIDNIGHTSANDWICH(aka — a smaller Cuban sandwich on asweet roll), an order of YUCAFRITA, and MADUROS. Our food was ready within minutes and we were headed home immediately after. I wanted my food piping hot, so I threw the sandwiches in the toaster oven for just a few minutes. Verdict? The sandwiches weren’t too shabby. Definitely satisfied my tastebuds. My Midnight Sandwich was just the right size for me, however, I honestly thought that the regular Cuban sandwich just tasted slightly better. The Yucca fries were a huge portion although I wasn’t too big of a fan of how they were chopped which affected how they were cooked on the inside. The maduros were okay as well, although I like my plantains super ripe, super sticky, and these weren’t. Despite the«OK» experience, I will say that I am tempted to go back to try their hot food items, a lot of it looked super tasty! Guava and Cheese pastries, Empanadas, Pernil, Pasteles? I know Pasteles is Puerto Rican, but apparently they have them! VALUE5.0 FOOD3.5 SERVICE4.0

This place is DISGUSTING I found a roach on my plate. A live one, and they claimed I brought it and wanted to charge me. I hate bought the Moro rice with pork and then I see little antennas moving. The lady wanted to charge me because she thought I brought it. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. I’m mad that they wanted to charge me. And then this lady tells me they fumigated that day, that it couldn’t be the restaurants food.

Finally tried this place after passing by for months. I had the Cuban turkey sandwich which was massive for only about 5 bucks. Overall meaty and delicious and the bread was nice and toasty. But what beat the sandwich in my opinion was the side of yuca fries. Huge chunks of fried crispy yuca. YUM. Also had the ham and cheese croquettes and beef empanadas, both good as well but did not blow me away.

The food is delicious. This is my favorite spanish restaurant in my neighborhood. My problem is that they don’t seem to be open when I need them. I have been a few times where we have tried to go there and the doors where closed! I recommend giving them a call before you head to the restaurant and make sure they are open.

This little mom and pop Cuban restaurant looks very unassuming from the outside but quite cozy once you enter. And it has a nicely sized mezzanine dining room, tastefully decorated in the tradition of a latin patio. The food is DELISH and you could either order from the menu at the table or point at it from an assortment behind a glass and wait for it to be served to you. It’s very reasonably priced and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. This restaurant was suggested to us by the staff at the car dealers across the street while we were buying our new car and, though there’s quite a distance + toll roads between us, that hasn’t stopped us from coming back many, many times. I’ve known many Cuban restaurants in the NY/NJ area and this measures up to the much more expensive ones for a fraction of the price. IT was our little secret till now that we decided to share the wealth hehe. If you’re in the vicinity and are a fan of great home made Cuban food you owe yourself a visit to La Havana.
