The quality of the food seems to really depend on who behind the counter makes it. I’ve had some 5 star sandwiches just as many as I’ve had a 1 star wrap. Fantastic brownies. Overall it’s nice to have a deli in the neighborhood but there needs to be consistency.

Been there twice since they reopened and both times I had the Super Sub. It was very good with right amount of each cold cut. Place is clean and bright. My only advice is to make the display case look a lil more attractive to customers, make it look more appetizing from the consumer side.

Love supporting local business but will not likely be back. Limited bagel selection-probably not made on site. Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches that were just average. Gloves should be worn.

Love supporting local businesses but we will not be back. We got 2 sandwiches: a sloppy Joe with turkey and ham and also a sandwich with eggplant, mozzarella and peppers. The sloppy components were all fine but nothing special. What was incredibly disappointing was the ratio of meat to bread. It was all bread and very little meat, which for $ 7 is certainly not right. The eggplant sandwich had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. We had to add some balsamic glaze at home to give it something. Otherwise, it just tasted like mushy bread. I suggest the owners head to Just Sandwiches in Glen Ridge or Lenny and John’s in Bloomfield and try some real sandwiches. With so much competition in town, they will need to try harder.

Finally decided to try this place after driving by numerous times. I should have kept driving. This place just opened and if anything you would expect the sandwiches be over the top. The sandwich had very little meat in it. No more than a few slices of each kind of meat. And what is this«Italian Bistro» suppose to be. This place had below average quality sandwiches. Noting to make you go back. Oh, and while the sandwich was being made-some meat that was already sliced and placed on the sandwich was removed. Won’t be back.

John is back! Oh how I miss the old Broad St location. When I was young-er(am I old now??), I used to order from John’s Deli probably twice a week. I’d alternate between a whole Italian sub with a side of potato salad or cheeseburger and a pint of chili. You can still pick up an excellent sub with the same soft bread, but unfortunately the burgers and chili are gone(for now). I had serious nostalgia during my first bite. Their sub packed with an ample amount of meat and is well constructed. It did not fall apart whatsoever. You’d be surprised how important this is to me. I really hate holding on to meat or tomatoes by the time I reach the end of my sandwich. Breakfast is also available. Of course I went straight for the Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll with salt, pepper and ketchup. While good, it’s not the best in the area. However, it is $ 1(25%) cheaper than the competition! The home fries were basically new potatoes that have been cut in half. While I personally love potatoes and don’t mind this, people who are expecting crispy potatoes might be disappointed. Overall, this is a solid local deli. I can see this as my go-to place for Italian subs.
