Light Star Chinese Restaurant

The food is great. Let’s just start there.
I had one negative experience with customer service. The next time I called a few weeks later, the owner apologized to me for my experience. That says a lot about their integrity. I really respect that.
We’ve tried other places in Bloomfield and everyone else is a waste. Light Star is where it’s at. If you’ve never ordered there before, you’ll be pleased!

Decent food and prices. People are friendly and he orders are always accurate. I’d go back to eat here.

The lady on the phone is insanely rude, but once you get past that the Chinese Food is pretty good. They are always super quick and the portions are pretty big. The General Tsao’s is spicy too, which I like a lot. The place is sort of dumpy inside though, but I imagine 90% of customer’s are going for take out anyway.

As good as any Chinese take-​out I have had in recent years, from anywhere.
I’m a fan of hot/​spicy, and Light Star will gladly adjust any dish according to your taste.
Not only is the food fresh, but the portions are way generous. One of my favorites, Singapore Mei Fun, is so packed it literally pops out of the container once you take off the lid. No way could any normal person eat it all in one seating!
Also the only place I have been that serves Fried Chicken Gizzards. Those of you who may have read my previous reviews know I am not a stickler for traditional, «safe cuisine.» These chewy morsels are satisfying and tasty… but admittedly not for everyone.
If you’re driving through Bloomfield near dinner time, call ahead, or order when you arrive and enjoy the show!

The General Tso was better than many I’ve had, with a little 5 spice in the sauce. Where I was very disappointed was the chicken fried rice, the worst ever. The rice was white, mushy with no seasoning, hardly any chicken, and only a couple of peas to provide ant color or vegetable. Also order Singapore Mei Fun which wasn’t bad, could of had more curry seasoning. The rice noodles were overcooked.

What can I say. It is your typical Chinese takeout/​delivery. My colleagues and I order from here from time to time. Food can lack in flavor and at times taste stale. Delivery time typically takes about 30 – 45 minutes. Maybe I am just being demanding but everywhere else we order from comes within 15. On the bright side, free soda with your lunch order.

I work in Bloomfield and we’ve tried an array of Chinese places for lunch. I would have to say hands down that Light Star is the best in the area. Myself along with all my coworkers have been pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. The fried rice is always excellent. It’s light and fluffy, not hard and dry like other places, almost as if it’s steamed instead of fried. Makes me feel like it’s much healthier than most places, although i’m sure it’ll still pack on those calories. The chicken in garlic sauce is really good. The service is great, everytime i go in she greets me with a big smile, gets the order together and usually throws in a free 2 liter. We’re definitely gonna stick with this place for our future chinese take-​out orders!

Nooooooooooooo. I decided to get some soup here when I wasn’t feeling well along with some «spicy food». I decided to order from them because they left menus all over my apt building. I ordered for pick up and couldn’t find the place right away. The girl who worked the counter kept calling and screaming at me asking where I was… I told you the first 2 times you called I was having trouble locating the restaurant… Anyway, I ended up finding the place and getting my food and it was pretty bland and not that great…

If you want fast Chinese food at a good price, light star is the best in town. Not exceptional but good, fast, and relliable.
