Let me just start with, I have tremendous OCD when it comes to my hair. I am naturally brunette and have been bleach blonde since my teen years. I have an annoying problem because I pull gold. I have been to many salons trying to find the right colorist with the right formula to get me ash blonde with bright highlights and just the right amount of contrast. Well, my search is over! This salon is up on all the latest color trends and product. Joelle is the owner and she has a great team. They are super friendly and accomodating. They really listen and go to great lengths to meet all your requests. I HIGHLY recommend this salon. I read the not– so –good review below, and all I can say is don’t let it deter you from going there. People are human and make mistakes. That has never happened to me. They are not flaky newbies that don’t know how to conduct a professional business. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Very disappointed… called yesterday ¹⁰⁄₁₇ to see if they were open on Sunday. I was told that there was one stylist on — Cindy and that I could come in at 2:30. Well I am here and they are closed.
First time I came the store was closed too (when I had an appointment scheduled as well) and I had to wait 15mins before someone showed up.
Never again… sorry studio J.

They say that once you go black you never go back!
This is a true story folks, but when your black hair meets a hair dresser like Joelle with skillz the rest is history!
So let me tell you that from the minute I walked in I felt taken care of. No pretentiousness, but a real chill vibe, and a staff that knew what they were doing. Joelle took a look at my hair, assessed my current mood, and gave me my options. Basically she said she could do whatever I wanted, but I have black hair Joelle! Joelle was super chill and confident that she could flip the script.
I got there at 12 and left at 5pm, it didn’t even seem that long because these ladies really make you feel comfortable. The color lift is a long process and I was afraid of having uneven tones, but once I had my hair washed I was extemely pleased. I asked for a V shaped hair cut with long bangs, I got what I wanted and I have washed my hair since and it still feels soft. Even with all the torture my hair was put through, I believe it was that special hair martini that was applied to. Loved the presentation of the martini, but I appreciate the softness and managibnility it provided my hair. It was a mix of hair toner and conditioner. I love my hair and the price was fair too.
The truth is I’ve lived in NJ for about a year now and can honeslty say I found my new hair dresser. I mean this is a big deal, a big piece of my life was missing, but now complete. Thanks Stuido J Salon!

I just became a new client to Studio J and I have to say I admire the professionalism this place has to offer. When you walk in they are very quick to attend to you. They ask if you’d like something to drink and just give off a true feel of being comfortable and having it all be about the client. I get my hair done by Rose and she is truly amazing. Her love for what she does so greatly reflects in the work she does. I went from a very dark brown/​almost black to a nice golden honey and I love the work. She come highly recommended to me. If you want the work done right, I would suggest seeing Rose. Her professionalism is also unmatched. I enjoy my experience each time I go. Personally, the way a business treats their clients reflects highly of the quality of people employed and the business owners themselves; I would have to say Salon J and their staff go above and beyond to make that statement true. I found this salon on IG and I decided to give it a chance. I called on a Friday to make an appointment and they were able to fit me in for Saturday morning. They recommended Rose because I mentioned that I have verrryyyyy curly hair. Rose greeted me as soon as I walked in and we discussed exactly what I wanted to do. She took her time and gave me tips on how to wear my hair natural (which was my goal). In the end, I wound up cutting off over a foot of hair and I LOVE it. It is exactly what I wanted and for the first time in my life I didn’t have to go home and fix a blowout. Finding a good stylist is like a needle in a haystack and I’m so happy with my results.

Rose is the best stylist I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried many. I’ve been going to her for years, going with her when she moved to a new salon. She treats every haircut like a work of art. She is meticulous and attentive to requests; I never worry that I will end up with a style I didn’t ask for (everyone has a horror story like that). My hair is very fine and requires a skilled hand to give it shape. She keeps up to date with the latest funky styles and is eager to try bold looks, but gives equally beautiful classic cuts. I personally don’t have my hair colored, but I’ve chatted with her color clients at her last salon, and she is apparently legendary. ;-) Bottom Line: Go to her!

I have been going to Joelle (the owner) for years. I won’t trust anyone else with my hair. From cut to color, I am always 110% satisfied with her work. She treats her clients like family and is both professional and personable. I am constantly getting compliments on my hair after visiting the salon and happily refer friends and strangers to her.
