This sub shop used to be a blimpie store. Note it’s unbranded but sells the same products as blimpie but at a higher price. Expect to pay nearly 10 dollars for a half sandwich drink and chips. If you like blimpie and don’t mind getting ripped off this place is for you.

Been going here for about 20 years since I was a kid even when they were a Blimpie’s.(The inside still looks like a Blimpie store which is really cool) I am very picky when it comes to subs and this is probably the only place that knows how to make a great sub and they have been consistent for as long as I can remember. The bread, the quality AND quantity of meat/cheeses, oil & vinegar, and the other toppings including the thin-cut fresh lettuce all add up to a sandwich that just looks and tastes amazing and really has no comparison to any store in the immediate area. Yeah, I’ve been to Lenny & John’s down Bloomfield Ave. but I didn’t get what all the hype was about. The key to a great sub is that everything that goes into the sub has to be perfect; Sub City gets this concept right. The weird thing is Sub City still tastes like an old-school Blimpie sub but the other Blimpie franchises do not. Beyond the amazing subs, the place itself is very clean and the owner and the cute girl(see pic) that work there are great. If you haven’t tried this place out yet, man, you are missing out on what a real sub should be!

Staff was nice, sandwich was good and I would recommend this place. Only catch is they charge(a lot!) extra for peppers to be added and the sign is small and inconspicuous. An $ 11 sub turned into a $ 14 sub for a small handful of banana peppers. I would go again, but skip the peppers.

I had a taste for tuna and read on Unilocal that there was some great tuna here. I’m a huge fan of Blimpies(booooo subway). I realized that this place closed at 8(it was 7:52) so I called and someone said they could make my sandwich and have it waiting for me. yay! Tuna here I come. Did I say this was my first time here since it became Sub City? Okay, anywho… I got there and the man was polite. «Your total is 7.41» HUH? For a 6 inch? I paid, got in the car, bit into my sandwich and it’s amazing. I just wish that for $ 7 there was about double the amount of tuna. I like for tuna to ooze out of the sandwich onto the paper so that I can scoop it up and bite into again. yum! I will be back and I will update my review then.

Only ate here once. Terrible sandwich. Stale bread. The service was apathetic. I live a very short walk away, so when I say it was so bad I won’t go back, it’s saying something. It seems like a place that once was a national franchise, but decided to stop paying the franchise fees. Perhaps the rules about when to throw out old stock were too restrictive.

This is the best place to get a great filling Sub sandwich. Food is always fresh and tasty The place is always clean and comfortable. There is no better place to get a tuna sub. I have been coming here for over 20 years. Truly this place is excellent

The subs here remind me of Blimpie’s! I think that the store before it was in fact a Blimpie’s, because there is remnants of an old Blimpie’s sign. The meats and veggies always look fresh! The best part is the shredded lettuce. I have to say that the whole wheat bread is always a bit too dry, but that doesn’t stop me from coming back. I usually get turkey, American, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, salt, pepper, oregano, on whole wheat. I always want to get the white bread, but I play it healthy and get the whole wheat. I have gotten a hot roast beef sub, but I didn’t like it as much. I think that the bread was a bit hard after bring toasted because, like I said before, it is usually a little dry. Great name, though. I find myself singing«sub city, chick, sub sub city, chick…» when on my way there. Lame, I Know.

Typical Blimpie-esque sub shop. It’s right across from where my wife and I are currently staying in Bloomfield, so we’ve come here a few times. My major issue is how dry the whole wheat bread is. Granted, it IS whole wheat bread, but it still shouldn’t be that dry. Subway has better bread than these guys… The meats aren’t bad — they load the sandwiches up, and they’re fresh. They also charge wild amounts. Two subs and a water came out to $ 20. Way too much for a product that frankly, can be easily SUBstituted.
