Service was slow, rude and horrible … wanted Jamaican food– got a Groupon and maybe that’s why they treat customers bad!!! Took forever and they act like they’re busy knowing damn well they’re slow because they’ve been on Groupon since they opened. Got some oxtails, cabbage, rice and peas … Oxtails were hard as a rock and had no flavor, The cabbage was oily, tasteless and had cheap frozen vegetables in it. rice and peas I don’t even know where to start! Hubby got jerk chicken which was just burnt and inedible, rice and peas… Both meals were just plain disgusting even the sweet plantains were bad — they were just hard! And not sweet like how do u mess up sweet plantains??? This restaurant almost made me cry because all of the food went straight to the garbage and not even a starved dog would eat the food they would just run away which– I should of done and(which should be the name of the restaurant) RUNAWAY instead of Tasting IT… Taste it again? No thanks!!! How about you try the food before SELLINGIT! No don’t do it please don’t do it!!! Don’t taste it not even once you will be extremely disappointed!!!

Very sad day in Jamaican food land. Rice was very dry, curry chicken was dry and more about the sauce but they were stingy on the sauce(never had that happen before at a Jamaican Resturant). Plantains were good. Rice and the beans needed salt. cabbage was a very small portion, greasy, not much flavor. I’m a huge of Mac and cheese and I couldnt even finish it. It was tasteless, greasy, lacked cheese(the main ingredient!!!). I was the only customer in the Resturant so it’s not like they were rushing and had to feed a lot of people at once. He had time to cook it right. But no bueno :-(And I wanted Jamaican food sooooo bad because I haven’t had it in a year. :-(Sigh… The search continues.

I found this restaurant through Groupon, and my overall experience was great! The Cod Fritter was good. Slightly oily, buy tasty with the hot sauce. For the entrée we had Jerked Chicken and Goat Roti. Jerked Chicken with the salad, brown rice, and beans was fantastic once mixed in the plate! Spicy and mouth watering! Highly recommended. Goat Roti was also good. Needed a little spice to it. Otherwise roti was great as well! Banana Delight desert was absolutely amazing! I could definitely have more than 1! Freshly cooked at the same time nice and cool with the ice cream.

I went for dinner the other night. Service was slow even though there was no one else there. They were out of several menu items and the jerk chicken was all bone!

I ordered the jerk chicken meal and the not a good representation of what that meal should be. The chicken and the rice and peas were at least a day old. The chicken was very salty from the single bite I was brave enough to take. For the prices being charged, at least provide consumers with quality product. The portions are small and the food is stale… perfect ingredients for a successful business. By the way after that one bite, I ate the plantains and the rest went in the garbage… disappointing.

The reason for the two stars is one the high price of food and secondly the slow service as only one person is there at certain times in the afternoon… i spent 31 dollars for two food and a veggie pattie utterly ridiculous even the cashier was shocked that she rang it up three times go figure… one highlight the food is tasty but way too much rice and too little meat and vegetable. … atmosphere well kept and clean if u have extra dollars to sparw definitely give it a try if not seek another caribbean food spot

3 strikes… you’re out. 1st strike– Middle of weekend. was completely empty which made me pause but we went in anyway. very nice customer service but I ordered a dish after being told it wasn’t spicy… only for it to be extremely spicy. I was annoyed but hey i got over it. 2nd strike– They pop up on grub hub. We figure great, lets try them again. 15 mins later we get a call saying they do not deliver to our address. Grub hub called them and took them off the site for our location. 3rd strike– They appear on grub hub again. We really wanted to give them a chance so we had grubhub confirm with them that they deliver to us. They said yes they do. We place our order and 20 minutes later they tell Grub they do not have any deliver guys. What?! So I’m done with this place.

How do you enter no stars? Ok, so I was a little annoyed when I walked into a empty restaurant and was told to move to a smaller table, after I had to seat myself, because no one greeted me(not a soul in this place) I wasn’t given a menu and was asked what I would like. Not a good start in my book! Finally, I odered and the chef basically told me nothing was ready and it would to a while(annoyed again, but hungry, I waited) so half hour later the food finally came(still not a soul in this place) it was the worst greasy food I have had in a while. Finally someone came in as I ate and again it took them over ten minutes to be greeted. This place need a big hand from restaurant take-over if they ever plan on being successful.

I went there the restaurant was empty… that was my first warning… The waitress came over and asked me if I had a reservation. …she said let me check if we can serve you we have a party of 8 coming in… she came back and stated that when the party of 8 came my service might be slow… I can see that the restaurant was very small… I can’t believe you can’t serve 10 people without giving bad service… really…and after the nasty food and getting no service from my waitress the had the nerve to add on their tip… for putting the food on the table… you couldn’t pay me to go back to that mess…

We DIDNOT enjoy the food!!! The service was good! The food was kinda warm when they brought it to us. 3 fork bites in, it was cold. Now I know why this place is always empty. It tasted like they heated up frozen food in the microwave. The restaurant DIDN’T smell like food was being prepared in the kitchen. I’m VERY happy I used a Groupon for the visit. The Jerk Chicken was mostly big bones. Save your money and go somewhere else… ANYWHEREELSE!!! Me and my honey have decided to not patronize this restaurant again. We saw them selling food at Harvest Fest, and kept walking. No one else was patronizing them either.

Called today to make reservation as per rules on groupon. only to be told the don’t take reservations today.Wednesday. .only on Friday or Saturday(which was stated nowhere on the Groupon), so asked if I could use my Groupon still as a walk in and was told they dont seat for dinner after seven. .WTF.i ate here after 7 when they initially opened up using a groupon. obviously they don’t want groupon customers anymore, so they should have never put their business on there… will be calling groupon for a refund. too many Jamaican spots in bloomfield to put up with that kinda crap… anyone thinking going here try DEV’S around the corner instead Ps…the is a special menu for grouponers. Not all items are available

GREATDRINK! — HOMEMADESORREL! I never had Jamaican food before and after reading about some traditional dishes, we decided to order jerk chicken and jerk pork– doesn’t sound too adventurous, right? Anyways, we both enjoyed the dishes but my initial«jerk» reaction was, «where is the hardwood charcoal taste» ? I had the dark meat part of the chicken and the seasoning was good but there wasn’t a strong spicy kick with a hint of sweetness to it. The red beans and rice dish was ok– I would say it’s similar to the rest of the Caribbean countries surrounding Jamaica but not my personal favorite rice and beans. Coleslaw was also ok– I am not a big fan on coleslaw but I think it was reasonable enough to pair with this tradition dish. My favorite part of the experience was the drink we ordered to try, Homemade Sorrel. It is a refreshing drink and I would definitely want to try to replicate this at home for summer drinks. At the end of the night, I left satisfied. Service was friendly and charming. Place was small but clean and tidy. The Music was interesting but acceptable. =) I did leave thinking … «Perhaps a dry rub would have been better for a bit more extreme spicy experience and perhaps there are many versions of jerk chicken in Jamaica, Maybe I will be back…» =)

Tasted Taste It Again for the first time this past weekend. What’s with the name anyway? The sign at the restaurant reads«Tasteit,» not«Taste it.» So are we spelling it wrong or are they spelling it wrong? Pretty bad business for them if they are. Pretty dumb of us if we are. Anyway … We went here with a $ 21 Groupon for two drinks(non-alcoholic), an appetizer and two entrees. Silly Nathaly V. opted for a soda while I drank what she wished she had ordered: the homemade sorrel. If you’ve never had it, do yourself a favor and just go here and get one for the road. It’s made with hibiscus and ginger, and Nathaly V. doesn’t even like ginger. This concoction was by far the best part of the experience. Ya mon. As for the jerk chicken and jerk pork, I’m glad I went with the pork. It was just a little spicier than the chicken, but even though we both ordered our dishes spicy, neither was really spicy. The rice and beans were cooked just fine, but didn’t leave me with a ‘wow’ factor. The fried plantains made for a nice combo, but weren’t anything special. As for the cole slaw, it was interesting and rather distinct. We figure we saved about $ 13 on the total with the Groupon, but we were thrown for a loop when our server told us she included the gratuity for just the two of us. I can understand if she didn’t want to get hosed on the tip considering we went with a Groupon, but that left me with somewhat of a bad impression. Between that and the food not blowing me away, I probably won’t be tasting it again.

I went here with a Groupon. This place was very dissapointing. The food came out cold and the service was horrible. We were served appitizers and dessert without any plates or utensils, which is simply unacceptable. Once the our main entrees came out cold, that was it for me. Never again!

I came to this restaurant with a Groupon on a Friday night. I made my reservation the Monday before as required by the Groupon. The restaurant is not in the nicest area, but you would not know it once you walked in. The décor was simple and nicely done. The entire restaurant was empty. We were seated quickly once I mentioned my reservation. The Groupon comes with an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 beverages. We were handed menus immediately. We ordered the Cod fritters and a fruit punch. The cod fritters were delightful. There was just enough food for me and my boyfriend to work up an appetite for our entrees. You can tell that they were just made. The fruit punch was better than I expected and had a ginger taste to it. For entrees, I got the Salted Fish and my boyfriend got the Jerk Pork. The entrees come with rice and beans, veggies, and plantains. Both dishes were exquisite. Everything had a great spice to it. We would have ordered the fruit cake dessert, but the meal was very filling. I had very low expectations for this place after reading the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service and the great dishes. Maybe the owners read the poor reviews and turned this place around! I definitely recommend and would go back! Everything was reasonably priced if you go without a groupon.

This place sucks. I call to reserve a table and they said no tables available. They did not even ask what time. They just said«no tables available.» I did not even tell them that I have Groupon either. I would not recommend this place. Stay away.

After the positive reviews we were very disappointed with our experience. We were seated, and not given menus. A waitress came by and filled out water, still no menus. Finally another waitress came by and asked if we had ordered yet, and we told her we never got any menus. FInally we received menus. These menus were never taken back, by the way, after we ordered. They sat on the table for a bit until we moved them to the adjacent table. We ordered the jerk wings as appetizers, and while the food was tasty, it was almost all bones. It was difficult to find any meat. It was, without exaggeration, 80−90% bone. We ordered the jerk pork and the jerk chicken. Once again, the pork was a LOT of bone. The chicken was fine. While the sauce was tasty, it seemed like they were using cheap cuts of meat. We had ordered fruit punch with our meal which didn’t come on it’s own. We had to ask for it again. Overall, the service was bad, and the food was only ok. Don’t really want to pay for a pile of bones. We won’t be back.

Cute place. Friendly staff. Everything was fresh and the wait wasn’t very long. The jerk chicken was excellent. Rice and peas didn’t really have much flavor. The cabbage had a more modern twist? There were mixed vegetables in with the cabbage which was very lightly sauteed. It was seasoned better than the rice but wasn’t to my liking. I prefer the traditional way cabbage is prepared. This is a nice place but aside from the chicken and plantains, I left a lot of food on the plate.
