The owner of this restaurant is very nice, HOWEVER, when I have called to place an order from the menu, the owner has made up her own price despite the prices listed on the menu. Another issue I have is that they never have food ready, you have to wait about 30 Minutes or more. And one time my husband had called the restaurant to see if they were open so that he can stop by and check out their menus, upon going there the door was locked And the lights off even though the owner specifically said that she was already open. The food is good but i don’t think there’s much business at this restaurant and now I see why!

Excellent Pollo a la Brassa. Food is fresh and tasty. Small, but cozy, with a friendly staff. Worth another visit.

Ordered here for lunch one day to try something new in the area. I ordered chicken with rice and beans and also an empanada. The empanada was fine, the chicken with rice and beans was horrible. I bit into the chicken and spit it right out of my mouth. The food did not taste fresh at all as if it was a week old and re heated. I actually returned it and got my refund. I will not be coming here again.

This place is wonderful. They have the best friend rice I’ve ever had in my life. They call it pollo chaufa. The empanadas are wire good as well. The best part however is the daily who owns this restaurant. Wonderful people who care about their customers and are happy to share the story of their food.

I’m conflicted wether to waste my time on this review or waste your time reading it. Not sure how this place got any stars. It was a complete waste of my time, money, and angry stomach. We ordered homemade chicken soup and a side of sweet plantains after being informed they were out of most their menu items. No tostones, yucca, one chicken left… we were there at 5:30 on Wednesday evening. The soup should have been called microwaved can chicken broth with pasta and extra pasta. We also never received our sweet plantains. We are now headed to our go to place to have real dinner. So disappointed.

So, EXTREMELY disappointed with this place… When I saw a Peruvian restaurant opening literally BLOCKS from my house I was excited I drive all the way to Elizabeth or Orange to satisfy my Peruvian crave. Any way my husband went inside to place the order at 11:30am on a Friday … He met me at the stop and shop right across the street… We left 20 minutes after and I still had to run some more errands I looked at the time and freaked out it was 12:50, we placed the order 1 hr and 20 mins. ago, for a second I was like wow this place is not like the Chinese restaurants they call u every 10 minutes after your order is done. Anywho we went to the restaurant and can u believe the order wasn’t ready??? Im not a rude person so I was like ok how much longer would I have to wait… The lady said another hour and we’ll deliver the food for u. Ok no problem… We got home … An hr. and a half later had past no sign of the food… I was busy so I couldn’t call right that second so 15 minutes later(now 2 hrs. And 45 minutes after we placed the order) I decided to call … The lady who picked up the phone LIED to my face didn’t let me finish the sentence and said oh I’m outside open the door… So I was at this point starving and aggravated… Can you guys believe that my husband went outside and waited 10 additional minutes because no one was outside Grrrr… I called and the lady was like oh the girl is not there I was like no why would she if u said she was outside … Now I’m furious I don’t like getting lied too. After 3 hrs. And 15 minutes to receive the food… The chicken was bland and cold the french fries it seem the delivery girl(who let me tell u all… walked with $ 50 worth of food) ate them on the way to my house because there was barely any, the seafood ceviche looked like they took the cheapest pieces of tilapia cooked it mind u it’s supposed to be with raw fish. And they shredded the fish and it wasn’t in cubes Ohhh the disappointment… If I was able to rate this place 0 I would… Most places to make a customer happy after making wait so long they give them a free meal or at least reduce the bill… Never will go there again … I will continue to drive across town… This wasi food should be named. Walk-away food it left a bad taste in my mouth and I’ve been to other bad places but this place infuriated me to the point I just had to open up a Unilocal account.

My two experiences have resulted in luke warm entrees(to-go). I maybe caught a bad time periods but really wanted it to be great. Plantains are okay. I may try a different entrée if I’m at Stop & Shop but wouldn’t bring my friends there as superior meal.

Betty, the owner and mother provide wonderful food and service at this best kept secret spot in Bloomfield. No doubt in my mind that this place will grow and ultimately move to a bigger location but, hopefully, they stay right here in town where I live! The menu has a variety of foods with Latin sabor! Peruvian and some Cuban dishes too. I chose the Pollo Guisado and I came in feeling down but the food and smiles cheered me up. Now I’m stuffed! Give this place a try. Right across the street from Stop & Shop on Franklin Ave. Enjoy! JAG2

Peruvian food in Belleville/North Newark. It’s pretty hidden away across from the stop and shop on Franklin. But they serve some mighty fine mojo pork sandwiches. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Portions are pretty good, the pork was full of garlicky goodness. Good spot to go to if you’re in the area and looking for latin food. I must try the Lomo Saltado next time!
