Hot Dog Express

Fast and tasty hot dogs at convenient location. Good specials, Very tasty Gyro, really enjoyed it. Prices are high though

I truly enjoyed my experience at Hot Dog Express.
My husband had the Italian beef and I had the gyro. Each were delicious juicy (succulent to say the least) and I will most definitely be returning! The cost of the menu items were a little higher than I anticipated, but so worth it!

Hot Dog express is a hot dog joint located inside Stratford Square mall. I’ve passed it a few times but the Vienna Beef sign on the inside of their store front seemed like a positive enough sign, so I decided to give it a try.
I got a two hot dog, fries and soda special for 6.99. This is definitely higher priced than most hot dog stands,
The hot dog I received came on a plain non-​poppy seed bun, the bun wasn’t too soft or too hard. It didn’t appear to be steamed, it came with a very thick dill pickle on the hot dog. The pickle wasn’t too sour, but was quite literally a time and a half as thick as the hot dog itself. The hot dog itself was heated well and seemed to taste fine, the sport peppers included were hotter than I’d prefer and quite large.
On the plus side the fries faired quite a bit better, these are crinkle cut fries with a nice crispy outside. The paste on the inside isn’t as soft as other places, but overall these aren’t bad fries, they weren’t over-​salted or under-​salted either.
Considering it’s in a mall Hot Dog Express wasn’t as bad as one might expect. It’s certainly not a great hot dog. But it was made fairly properly, just using a cheap bun, hotter than normal peppers, non-​neon green relish, and a giant pickle slice. I’ve had worse hot dogs, and I’ve had better. The price here is obviously higher than most places, so I give it two stars.
