Mark and Bill helped put to rest any doubts we had about having bought a used car for our daughter. We purchased it at a reputable dealer out of the area through a close friend’s contact. We then took it to a local vw dealer for a small recall part to be changed. The vw dealer used shock and scare tactics. We were told the front brakes were so rusted they needed total replacement, all four tires were shot, air and and fuel filters needed to be replaced. In addition, was told, throw the car back into the dealer’s face you bought it from. After a conversation with the dealer we purchased the car from, we brought it the Mark’s shop. These guys came highly recommended. We explained safety was our primary concern for our daughter’s car. Mark found NOTHING wrong with the car. He did not even charge us for the inspection. Going forward they are the place we’re going for repairs and will recommend highly!

A recent horrible experience with a car dealership compelled me to search for Mark’s Auto, so I could write a review of the most honest mechanic I have ever taken my vehicles to.
I first found Mark’s auto about 6 years ago after failing inspection for emissions. I looked for a certified emissions repair shop and found Mark’s Auto in Bloomingdale.
I brought Mark my 2093 Toyota Camry to see what was wrong. Mark checked the car out and told me the catalytic converter needs to be replaced and that it would be $ 700. I thanked him for checking it and decided to think about purchasing a new car instead since the mileage was kind of high.
While trying to decide what to do I called Toyota to get a price on the part only to be told $ 1600.00 just for the part and no labor. Online you could buy an aftermarket unit for about $ 250 – 300 so I knew Mark’s price was more than fair.
I brought the car back to Mark and agreed to the $ 700 quote he had given me. The next day I went to pick the car up and the bill was $ 590. When I asked Mark what happened, he said he got the part cheaper than he was first quoted. That is the type of integrity this man has.
Then about 5 months later I went back to have a complete brake job done at my request. Mark quoted me the job and again the next day when I returned the bill was less. When I asked why, he said he checked the car and only the front brakes needed to be done. He said the rears had at least 15,000 miles left on them so he didn’t want to do the job when it wasn’t necessary.
Since then, I have referred a few other people and always received great feedback. I wish this shop great success. This man is a credit to his profession and to all of the honest mechanics out there.
