Very welcoming and warm atmosphere, friendly staff and neighborhood feel… good craft beer selection(20 taps) with plenty of local beers, plus solid selection of regional & national crafts – but not the«usual» ones. Dave knows his beer and also his spirits and has some interesting craft whiskies and gin. Looking forward to the food, but for now, the shelled peanuts do the trick with the beer. This is a neighborhood winner.

An absolute gem and breath of fresh air in this area. Cozy, rustic, quaint bar with mostly microbrews on tap. Fresh beer and clean lines. Eclectic(and authentic) antique décor. Frank, the owner, is super friendly and enthused about his bar, and his son(Dave) bartends. Upstairs features a second(and larger) bar with additional taps. Plenty of tables, porch upstairs, fire pit in the backyard. Piles of board games upstairs to grab and enjoy. Local brews, local spirits(as well as the expected big names). Bar pies. Kitchen is in place, they are just working out the permits before they can serve food. This place is a labor of love and it will do very well. A much-needed game changer in the area. Stop by Ramstein Brewery(nearby) for a tour, then come to River of Beer to enjoy their offerings outside of the brewery’s limited hours… and plenty of other interesting brews. The first time I tried to visit River of Beer, my GPS sent me further up Main Street, near the train tracks. The bar is actually a few doors before King’s Corner, across from Rite Aid, and next door to The Little Antique Shop. Not the most prominent signage yet. But once you find it, you’ll enjoy this hidden jewel.

Loved the vibe here — very cozy and comfortable. Hung out upstairs for a friend’s birthday. Enjoyed their beer selection. Really friendly bartenders too! Not serving food yet but my understanding is that they will soon. They also had some table games available. I heard there’s a fire pit in the back outdoor area as well but it was too cold to check out. Would absolutely come back and recommend to everyone. If you are here later in the evening, there may be parking across the street, by the post office.

Stopped here after a game of paintball with some friends. Great beer list and knowledgeable bartender who took time to talk to us and was very friendly. Great décor and atmosphere. Looking forward to stopping by again to play Jenga, Battelship and drink!

Dave is a great guy and knows his beer. This place is a gem, truly — best beer selection, eclectic mix of local crafts that I couldn’t have picked better myself. Ambiance is cozy, makes you want to hang out for awhile, chat with the bartender and make new friends. Hope this place takes off, I’ve been telling everyone I can!

So far so good. River of Beer doesn’t serve food yet, so this may need to be updated once the food operation starts, but for craft brews this is an excellent place. Their goal is locally sourced craft beers, but at the moment«local» includes a fine selection from the Kona Brewery in Hawaii, as well as brews from DE(Dogfishead) and PA(Victory). They also feature several options from the nearby High Point Brewery(aka Ramstein). The son of the owner is currently running the bar and his knowledge of craft beers is extensive and he is friendly and eager to show off their selection of quality brews. For fans of the big brewery beers such as Bud, Coors and faux craft beers like Blue Moon, he will guide you to something on the menu that you might find appealing. The atmosphere is typical of many craft beer bars, a little dark with exposed beams overhead and a copper topped bar. There is a second, larger bar upstairs that should get more of a workout once they start serving food. There is also an outdoor fire pit and a gorgeous section along the Pequannock River where there are benches that provide a close up view of the river. You are free to grab your pint and sit on the river bank. The River of Beer is a welcome addition to the area, which has a been a craft beer wasteland until now. Plentiful parking in the rear, though the parking lot isn’t obvious from the road.

Had a great time here! They had such a great variety of beers and the staff was extremely friendly and inviting. I also got to try one of their craft cocktails– the perpetual left turn which was to die for! Can’t wait to go back when their kitchen opens!
