Auto Heaven

My son goes to IU, had a moderately bad fender bender in his 98 camry; didn’t want to go to a fancy repair shop. I called Auto Heaven at 6pm on Saturday, knowing they were closed since noon to leave a message; Chuck answered the phone and was extremely helpful and understanding of our situation. was right on the mark about not needing to take a 17 year old car to a big repair shop– gave us the name and phone number of a local guy who does body shop work– exactly what we were looking for. It’s a mercurial boneyard for parts for autos and trucks and other stuff, linked with another junkyard on IND 37 not far from Oliver Winery. There is a wicked number of parts in the form of derelic cars and trucks here, and at the other location. The problem is motivation.
Twice I went with a list of stuff for a truck that I needed. Twice, no one called. Oh, they remembered most parts of the list, but I think that their business with local repair shops is probably more important than with local civilians or shade-​tree mechanics like myself. I pay cash, but apparently others pay more cash more frequently. Some yards are very interested in getting you what you need. Here, it’s a bit less diligent.
The upside is that parts I’ve purchased were good, and when they weren’t they were replaced immediately to my satisfaction. Prices are generally fair to a bit above what you’ll find in Indy. That said, the folks are still friendly and know their chops. They’re just in a different time zone.

Wow, where to begin … needed help finding an engine (price was hundreds less than comparable online), ended up buying a rebuild elsewhere with no hard feelings.
