Because I cook soul food regularly in my home and lived down the strewn from the infamous Sweetie Pies I have to rate this a 3. It’s great for the price but I wasn’t a fan of the greens and the rice isn’t white rice it’s brown bagged rice(which isn’t on her menu so I really appreciate her making that for me). My brother and mother said The BBQ Pulled Pork could use more sauce. For the price and the amount though… I will return.

We found this place on Unilocal and just had to try it! Your choice of meat with 2 sides and a drink for $ 6. That’s a deal that can’t be beat especially when you see the portions. I had the rib tip dinner with sweet potatoes and Mac ‘n cheese. My drink of choice was Tropical Punch Kool Aid. Any place that offers Kool aid as a beverage is A-ok in my book! The ribs were really good. Nicely smoked and loaded with sauce. The mac ‘n cheese was good but could’ve been a little cheesier. The sweet potatoes were delicious. My husband got the fried chicken with collard greens, mac ‘n cheese and corn bread. He loved what he had especially the fried chicken. I had a taste of it and it was extremely good. The service was great; extremely friendly and hospitable. We would definitely recommend coming here for some finger-licking good home cookin’.

This place is the essence of a hole in the wall soulfood shack, and i mean that in the best way possible. I ordered the pulled pork with mac n cheese and sweet potatoes my brother got catfish nuggets with chicken n dumplings and cole slaw. Eveything was amazing! The chicken and dumplings were especially good, i couldnt believe they were a «side dish», id happily eat a whole plate of them. Portions were pretty generous, especially considering its only 6 bucks and you get a drink too. Keep your eye out for this place its easy to miss, just a little white concrete box just before the train tracks, i definitely plan on coming back often.

Fantastic soul food! A guy I work with told me about this place. It is off the beaten track a little bit but worth it. I had the rib tips, greens, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. Including a drink it was only $ 6. The woman working was very friendly and obviously took pride in the food. I will be going back!

Just visited this place for the first time today. Don’t blink or you will drive right by it. Walked in and there was no one in the place. Just one lady behind the counter. Her name I found out later is Cathy. I asked what’s good, she said everything! I ordered the fried chicken, with mac & cheese and corn on the cob for my 2 sides. All this was $ 6.00 by the way! After I ordered, she asked«you guys want Kool Aid». My response. «You know I want some Kool Aid»… She brought out a fresh pitcher and filled up a stainless dispenser sitting on the counter. We sit down and wait for a few minutes and food came out fast. I was a bit caught off guard by this. The chicken came out too fast to be freshly cooked so i was a bit put off. Boy was I wrong! The chicken was hot, juicy and well seasoned. Mac and cheese was very good. As we were eating I chatted her up about the chicken recipe and she wasn’t really giving too much information. She was very friendly and said if she told me how to make it, then I would just make it at home and not come back. I’ll be back! Warning, this is not a suit and tie kinda place. But if your in for some good home style food with great service give it a try!
