I only go to Bloomington once a year, and I just found this place on my last trip. I will be returning every year from now on

This is my go to shop for any comics I need. When you start a pull list here, you automatically get 10% off everything in the store. The pulls are always timely and well placed. If you come here, you’ll never have to worry about getting ripped off, the staff is friendly and helpful. The biggest draw this store has for me is the constant price of $ 2 a back-issue, all back issues are bagged/boarded and organized properly. My coming to this store is my favorite event every week, when you stop in, ask for Bjorn, he’s a good friend.

I was in town on vacation and I came in for some recent back issues, they had a few of the books I was looking for, plus a gem that I wasn’t looking for. As I was checking out I asked if there was another shop around where I might be able to find all the books I was looking for, and the guy behind the counter recommended three other stores where I might have some luck. Very friendly staff and they helped me find what I was looking for. If I’m ever back in Bloomington, I will make sure to stop in here again!

Captian Jacks is amazing. My husband and I go here every week. We are treated fairly, and all of the staff knows our names. They’ve got a HUGE selection of back issues, and I can usually find what I’m looking for. I always look forward to going here, and usually we stay for a while talking to Bjorn about random stuff. GOHERE if you want great service & amazing comics!

Hands down the best comic shop in the area. Customer service is what sets these guys apart. I’ve been getting my books there for the past 7 months and my experience has been excellent. The staff is very knowledgable and always great to talk to. Nice selection of back issues and TPB’s. Fantastic promotions on select days through out the year.

Make no mistake, this is first and foremost a comic book shop. I was delighted in the extensive stock of back issues, most of them for $ 2 an issue(unless marked other wise) but limited quantity(one or two issues). Solid selection of Bronze Age comics with a larger selection of more recent issues. I was pleased that I picked up two 70s vintage Brave and the Bold comics and staff, Bjorn was knowledgeable enough to know the Whitman redistribution version in comparison to the original DC release. You don’t find that sort of knowledge in many places. Whether you’re looking to pick up the latest issue of your favorite title or fill in gaps in your collection from the 1970s or 80s, this is the place you want to go to. If you’re looking for fanboy t-shirts, action figures, collectible figures, comic props and movie tie in paraphernalia, look else where. What you will find is the original inspiration for the movies that are popular now– comics books when the stories were as excellent as the artwork. Support these independent comic books shops by buying the newly released comics and trade paperbacks from them instead of a chain bookstore or a big box retailer. Your dollar will go a lot further for these local stores which goes right back into the community versus it going to some corporate pocket who couldn’t tell the difference between a Quinjet and a Blackbird. Whether you’re a old time collector like myself or just getting started, you’ll find something at Captain Jack’s.

This is my second choice for comic book stores in the Twin Cities, restricted only by location for me. This place is great! They have a great selection on the floor but the real hidden gem is their collection of back issues you don’t see. The staff is very helpful and helped patch some holes in my collection from their off floor stock(which I’m told is used at their frequent visits to Cons.) If I need something from Jack’s and can’t make it over there myself I feel fine sending someone who doesn’t know much about comic book with some basic instructions and I can trust the staff there to be helpful and attentive enough to help get it done. A few times now I’ve used them to help get out of print items. Really I can’t say enough about the staff here. The store size is what I’d say is typical for a Twin Cities comic book store, the staff is great, the price is fair and they’re willing to work with you on bulk purchases. Their toy and figure collection carries quite a few unique items I’ve never seen in stores. Captain Jack’s is worth checking out.
