Eh… they’re alright. Classic Lanes has the only pro shop in town, so if you want to get a ball drilled this is pretty much your only option in Bloomington. Like many other alleys, Classic Lanes feels unstuck in time, and not really in a good way. There are plenty of lanes, but the décor is outdated and run down, and the lane computers are old and beat-up. Booze prices are fine, and the lanes are perfectly functional, but you’ll have a much better(and cheaper) time by going to the alley at the IU Memorial Union.

You cannot rely on this place to have open lanes… ever. The last four times we have tried to bring our family here we called ahead to see if there were any special events that might fill the lanes. Every time the employees failed to mention that there were«leagues«or huge parties there reserving every lane but two(which were occupied). I use«leagues«loosely, because apparently the kids of league bowlers are allowed to use lanes reserved for leagues because they won’t open up those lanes to other customers. Because of this persistent issue(all lanes being reserved for one reason or another) we haven’t actually gotten to bowl here in over a year.

For some odd reason I’d never been to Classic before a few weeks ago. Normally I bowled(if that’s what you want to call it) at Suburban. I don’t really bowl, despite taking it for credit in college, but I’ve seen the Big Lebowski enough to know that it should have plenty of lanes and cheap booze, and Classic definitely fits the bill. Everyone was very friendly and I didn’t feel like an outsider. The bar has a nice selection and local beer on tap to boot with lots of daily specials.

I haven’t been to alot of bowling alleys, but it seemed cool. A little out of the way, but decently priced.

Classic has great deals. Dollar Beer Dollar Bowl on Tuesdays and plenty of other deals throughout the week. I would definitely recommend it for something different and fun.
