Colonial Crest Apartments

I would like to start off by saying that, at $ 660/​month, I was not expecting much out of this apartment complex. I’m a pretty simple guy with simple expectations. I was merely looking for a cheap place to live during college. That being said, almost every single one of those expectations have not been met.
On top of the mold in both bathrooms, and excessive water damage throughout almost all of the walls, there has been an INSANE roach problem throughout the entirety of my stay. The old landlord at least pretended to care about it, even though very little was done about it. (They would send a guy in to casually spray in the kitchen, and it never helped the problem.) I would have to shake out my clothes when I did laundry, so I wouldn’t be washing my clothes with roaches, I couldn’t leave a drink out for over an hour without a roach crawling in and drowning in it, and I had to throw out 3 different coffee makers because they kept forming nests in them.
To make it all worse, the NEW landlord is immature and acts like a child. When I approached her about the roach problem, she laughed in my face and said that it wasn’t her problem. Then she tried to say the roaches were my fault, even though every neighbor I have talked to said they have roaches, too. Then, the day after Christmas, she sent out fines throughout the entire complex (broken blinds, illegal pets, etc), probably making $ 10,000 + overall. Almost every neighbor I saw had a fine notice attached to their front door.
So, to recap: excessive mold and water damage throughout, and an irreparable roach infestation. The landlord is nothing short of a greedy monster who refuses to help her tenants with their problems, and often tries to blame them for the problems in the first place. On top of all that, break-​ins are a very common occurrence (including my apartment), they tow your friends’ cars every single weekend (even though there are only 10 visitor spots in the whole complex), and the walls are so thin and damaged you can hear every sexual experience and domestic dispute on a nightly basis.
I never write reviews, and I’m certainly not a picky person bickering over nothing. I only wrote this review to help others not waste their time and money on this terrible excuse of an apartment complex. Take your money ANYWHERE else.
Oakdale and Wapahani are two complexes on the west side that are just as cheap and are MUCH more livable.

I lived at Colonial Crest for 3+ years. The value was unbeatable. It’s on the bus line, having multiple stops throughout the complex.
Direct tv and supposedly high-​speed internet are included in the rent. Throughout my time at Colonial Crest, the internet tended not to be high-​speed. At one point, several people (myself included) in the complex were beginning to pursue legal action due to a total lack of internet all together. Furthermore, when I looked into getting an outside service, we found out that for our apartment, the infrastructure made it impossible to get a different provider, so we were stuck with poor internet.
I don’t want to be all negative. The size of the townhomes were excellent value for the money. I lived in a two bedroom town house. I think there were larger townhouses available, too. They have garden apartments, and smaller two bedroom housing options as well. We paid around $ 650/​month originally for rent, sewage, and water, and it decreased to $ 600/​month for us by the time I moved away. They give rental discounts the longer you stay at Colonial Crest.
The managerial staff does not always respond quickly to requests made regarding most anything. They became more helpful to my roommate and myself the longer we were there. The management office is in the complex, which makes paying the rent a bit easier. There is not an option for paying online at this time.

Easy access to public transport
Quick ride or drive to campus
Parking for self and limited parking for guests
Very inexpensive (the longer we rented the more they discounted our rent).
Negatives:
–History of burglaries and theft (I had a $ 1000+ laptop stolen from my home, and my roomate’s car was broken into one or two times). They’ve tried to rectify this by having a security guard on weekends. My neighbors and I formed a sort of neighborhood watch for our block, and kept an eye out for suspicious characters. Renter’s insurance also would eliminate any worry.

I would still choose to live at Colonial Crest. The value it pretty much too hard to beat.

Horrible place wrong information about rent amount, pipes keep freezing, thin walls, bad landlord, friends cars got towed, inadequate guest parking. HORRIBLE. Cost my friends 200 dollars when there was tons of open space to park
