Cub Foods

Cub is affiliated with Niemann Foods and County Market. Lots of fresh produce, bag your own candy, meat selections, and deli choices. Their tapioca pudding and fumi-​fumi salads in the deli department are two of my favorites anywhere in town, but it’s necessary to ask for a sample of each before purchasing because Cub has a tendency to leave the salads on display for an entire week. So you get either crunchy tapioca or soggy fumi-​fumi. But if they’re fresh — mmmmm.
Prices are comparable to Jewel-​Osco — between the low of Kroger and to the high of Schnucks, but closer to Schnucks. Really nothing special about this place — I much prefer Kroger, personally. However, the 10% off on Wednesdays for students does take the bill down enough to go out of your way to shop here on that day of the week.
